jessefs 0 #3 August 25, 2002 This is my first time posting numbers and am not quite sure exactly how this works....but here goes: 2:1:1 2 sprains in my girlfriends leg (knee and ankle) on her first AFP jump 1 awesome skydive which was also my first AFP course at SDC. My jm Rook let me go for most of the freefall which was sweet and flying that canopy rocks. I thought they were going for the record set last Sat when she sat in ER for 9 hours while I stood by. They don't what you in, but they don't want to let you go either! 0 jumps ...my girls are with their Dad, and Spence was cooking at Skydive Atl so I should have gotten a few jumps in. I can taste those ribs..... yum. Reason - see above. Honestly my parents need to stay home more. 1 case of beer purchased and consumed over the weekend while waiting. Upon arrival, my friend had left some stuff on teh table for me- $$, a binder of porno flicks, bottle of cuervo 1800, some nice smokes, and handcuffs. great friends! house is a huge meditteranean, had free reign of the jaccuzzi tub, etc etc... htey are both artists, so the place was immaculate. Scoby 0 #12 August 25, 2002 1:1:3 New dropzone for me, Perris First ZP canopy, Sabre 2 First skydiving injury...the canopy opened really, really hard, leaving me seeing stars and with fire in my ribs. Also have a nice burn from the riser on my neck. That's also why I only did one jump. Hopefully, I'll be alright for next weekend. I don't think my ribs are broken, but they're really bruised. It took a couple of hours to start thinking straight again, but at least I had the presence of mind to land alright. I'm wondering if it was bad position, bad packing, or just bad luck. I'll give the packer the benefit of the doubt and assume it was something I did. I really had no idea just how hard a "hard opening" really can be... I just got home now. Last night we went ff and saw some experimental theater "Too Much Light Makes the Baby go Blind" - which was actually 30 plays in 60 minutes. Highlights of the show were: The More Things Change, the More things stay the Same. OR bitter play by an author whose building is going condo. Several not so skilled by extremely masculine men vent their frutrstrations and anger on stage by safely operating various hand and elextric power tools on a piece of wood which, for the purposes of this very masculine play, could be seen to represent specific body parts of those greedy coroprate bitch-ass CEO's who are screwing innocent people like you and me out of our life savings. and my dates personal favorite: "SEND ME A VIRBRATOR". Good stuff. It was a reminder of how cool independent theater can be... wherever you live I'd remind you to check out whats available localy. This morning we toured an outdoor art exhibit called "Earth from above" - all pictures of the earth from airplanes... it was truely striking. Snowbird 0 #17 August 25, 2002 :3:2 This was the best birthday I've had in years! The first jump was a coach jump, and Barry shot video. First time I've had video done (one case), and it was great to see what I'm doing. Finally figured out what is messing up my door dive. Second jump was my attempt at front loops, which failed miserably, but my track was way better. Third jump was a cross-country! (second case) I've been wanting to do that since I started this spring. What a view! Clouds were building to the east, the sun was low behind me to the west, I could see four lakes, with the Lake Okanagan stretching south into the distance. What a great birthday. (sighing happily) Wanted to do more today, but wind and rain shut down the dz. Guess I'll just have to make them up next weekend.
