What famous band have you lived closest to ?

Recommended Posts

Let's see. hmmm. Colorado. hmmm.

hmmm.

mm.

Winger? :D:D:D

Seriously, there's like John Denver, even though he wasn't from Denver, I guess. Kitaro is one of the most recognized musicians in the world, and he lives in Boulder, but he's not into big record labels, so most Americans haven't heard of him. Wind Machine if you like ambient music - they're pretty strange guys though.
Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

A couple of the guys from GWAR went to my high school about 10 years before I got there.

Lead singer of GWAR went to a high school near me. In college some of my friends would go see Dave Matthews before he hit it big.

DC area?

Nope, outside of Richmond, VA.

No Doubt is from Orange County. My brother knows Gwen Stefani (just an acquaintance, not good friends. His best friend is a friend of Gwen's brother)

Orange County/Long Beach have tons of bands that started here.

Offspring, Sublime, No Doubt, Sugar Ray, Korn, Hed.

I've seen all but the Offspring at various keggers when I was younger...

Well, my husband was on the stage with the Temptations, and I got to wait on Doc Severinson in my music store once. And Stepan Grapelli and his whole orchestra came in to my music store once. And the guy from the Loving Spoonful, John Whatshisname that wrote Welcome back Cotter, I had him come into the store once and talk to me for hours about a Country Gentleman Guitar I was working on. Oh yea, and then there was the Father of BlueGrass music, who had me put a string on his mandolin. But the closest bands were all in Champaign, 3 hours away, unless you consider the Bellsons. But they had grown up and become famous before I ever got to meet them. Louie is a pretty cool guy, and comes home once a year to do a fund raiser for our jazz folk here. Everyone of these guys was REALLY nice, not a fat head in the group.
Oh yea, and Bix Beiderbeke, but he was dead a million years ago.
I'm right on the Mississippi River, LOTS of music here.

We live really close to Son Volt's leader... Jay Farrar. Jeff Tweedy is from right across the river from us. I used to live two blocks from Billy Corgan of the pumpkins when I lived in Chicago. I'd often run into him at the coffee shop. it was very bizarre wating in line with him in front or behind me.
