Is your rig worth more than your car?

Recommended Posts

Yes, for one of my cars. 10 years old with 184,000 miles with a broken air conditioner. I could get more if I sold my rig than this car.

It wouldnt have been but I decided to sell my car and buy a more modest model. Seems that driving fast and in comfort wasnt what I got my kicks from anymore :P Now got a smaller car that I put about 10 quids worth of a fuel in a week :)

I try not to think of it as selling my car as I lost alot of money. More of an investment in a new part of my life (difference paid for my AFF and rig) :D

my car is worth more, but my rig is better maintained and gets inspected way more often to ensure it's safe. For any rational person that wouldn't make sense, but then how many of us are rational??

my new rig... $5500.

WTF?!?!? Did I read that right??? Daaaaaamn... Care to break the cost of that down to the components?

Well, I've had my rig for 8 years now and it cost $3400 brand new, including the Cypres. I'm just astounded at how much higher things are now.

you said "ford escort wagon" ;)

It's a sad day when you see a daddy driving one of those around. :D:D:D

Heck, I ain't doing a whole lot better with my new Pontiac Vibe... but it does look a lot better than a escort.

yes, no doubt. i paid $500 for my car (92 Thunderbird), paid $2,050 for my rig plus $500 for a suitable sized reserve - it came with a PD160 so i upsized to a 193 (wasnt comfortable jumping a reserve loaded at 1.4:1). and when you count the money for reserve repacks, cypres maintenance, and other minor alterations, my rig is worth WAY more than my car.

i take better care of my rig too :P
