Bolas 5 #33 May 23, 2010 I don't think one can say never in this or any circumstance. No one knows what the future may hold. Situations change constantly. Even those at the end that are too injured or sick to still jump usually get once last one. PLFXpert 0 #37 May 23, 2010 I have a little more than 300 jumps and have not jumped in--four years?--I do not know how long. For me, I still consider myself "a skydiver". I still believe I will once again start jumping regularly. In fact, I think about wanting to jump often, just not enough I would want to be jumping often enough to stay current (i.e. safe). I voted "once a skydiver...", but I have to be clear: tandems do not a skydiver make, imo. I once heard a guy call himself a "skydiver" because he has made three tandems. Before I get flamed, I submit there are probably a couple exceptions to my rule. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

wmw999 2,122 #48 May 24, 2010 Well, speaking as a 4-digit D license holder who took more than 10 years off, I'd have to say that you're a skydiver as long as: 1. you've been a skydiver in the past 2. you still consider yourself to be a skydiver Jack Bergman was the treasurer of USPA for a long time after he had to quit jumping for health reasons. I think he was still a skydiver Wendy P. There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence.
