I have the 1st gen iPad. It does the job, but now that I have a MacBook Pro (that does the job even better), not sure if I will upgrade to the newest iPad.

i bought a 64 gb playbook, and from what i've seen on the ipad, it blows it away. the screen is a little smaller and there are fewer apps until you jailbreak it and have access to the android apps, but for the price and performance, i wouldn't even think of recommending an ipad to anyone.

They're useful if you're active online. I'd like one just so if I need to check e-mails, news updates, update my websites, something I can't do easily without having to drag my laptop when I'm somewhere else for a weekend.

They are limited, and no replacement for a laptop. But I'd use it solely for it's internet browser. Mobile devices are alright, but try updating content on a blog or website with a phone.

I've found it rather useless for even basic internet or email use. For what i paid for it i could have gotten a small laptop that would be way better.
Its not even that good for watching porn. Half the tucking media players won't work.

Ill be using it when i travel for a year again in 2014, it will be for web browsing and video/photo blogging and movie watching.
I wont get an ipad because they are no where near versatile enough, and they dont take enough peripherals

I'm middle of the road on them.

I really use it more for a glorified (and expensive) kindle reader. I browse a bit on it, but really, 90% of its use is for ebooks.

As such, I wouldn't buy one with my money (it was a work bonus a couple years ago).

The form factor is really what I don't really like about it: it's big enough that if I bring it with me, I'm also carrying my laptop.

I have an original iPad and ordered the new one as soon as the presentation was over. I think it is a huge upgrade over the original an look forward to getting it in 7-10 days from now.

Apple product make sense when you commit yourself to the brand. If you have an apple tv you can sit in your living room with your Ipad and search through your Cloud then play movies and songs on your TV/Stereo. If you use it just for that purpose you are basically using a home audio system that used to cost $10k plus.

And if using it for email is difficult you must be doing something wrong.

Try to edit the content of a forwarded email, watch videos on different media players, ,upload photos to certain website. There is all kinds of stuff it can't do that a similar priced nett book can do. Fucking thing needs an adapter to plug in a usb then it can't even read half the stuff.
As far as im concerned its just an i phone for people who can't see very well.

Consumer electronics technology has been ahead of the vast majority of people's ability to use it effectively or productively for quite a while now. You can buy a 3D, high-definition video camera for $200 and most people can't even compose a decent looking photograph to save their life.

It's not good to be automatically adverse to things that are new but, just the same, you can't engross yourself in every gizmo that comes along and lie to yourself that's it's completely changed the way you live and always for the better.

EXACTLY.
I want something i can plug into and use as a stand alone device, not something that is dependant on another device .
Im hoping (pretty must guaranteed) that by October 2013 there will be a decent Windows or Android tablet with loads of ports and shit for me to take away :)
