  1. I jump Voyger 260 and 280, I wave off at 3500 and pull about 3000, I look at my altimeter right when slider goes down and it's showing around 2000, So I voted 900+ I don't have a problem with that, I enjoy smooth slow openings.
  2. I'm not a big fan of Windows since 1995, but I will never install McAfee on my PC. make sure you disable McAfe firewall, I would suggest wiping it off your PC and get a NOD, Avast or AVG. Also Microsoft does have some free stuff for broke ass users such a skydivers :) http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials try this link it may help. https://community.mcafee.com/thread/28074 P.S. Did you get that "Masterpiece" for free from Comcast? :) If you just using your PC for www or some simple stuff try Ubuntu as your second OS - you don't have to kill Win in order to have it. http://www.ubuntu.com/
  3. Ask your doctor if you can do this. You are free of seizure for 6 month, but no one knows whats gonna happen once you up in the air. You may be ok jumping trough AFF - there is someone to pull for you, but what if its happen when you do solo and there is nobody to deploy for you? I don't remember the waiver that I signed, but I think it was some medical questions about Epilepsy or stuff like that. There are AFF, Tandem folks that would have no problem to jump with you, but I'm sure they will have to say no, just because if something happen they will have to deal with attorneys, lawsuits and other shit. If you say in your waiver that you don't take any medicine and you don't have any problems with your health - they will let you jump, but in this case you will be trying to foul yourself. I'm not an experience jumper nor a medic, but I will suggest you not to do it...yet.
  4. This poll is for the jumpers that never jumped tandem as a student. I never jumped tandem and I was just thinking if I will be asked to jump one for free - I will just laugh and tell them no freaking way and would not be ashamed to say I'm scared. Would you?
  5. flying Velo it's just like driving a STI/Evo/Z - all kids want to do that because it's cool. but cars does have an airbags - rigs don't. If someone is dumb enough not to learn from some one else mistakes - well he is the part of the natural selection....
  6. Davis has tickets for $18 right now. The extra 3 bucks is more than worth it for peace of mind. Just sayin. +1, but it's September special only.
  7. Davis has tickets for $18 right now. The extra 3 bucks is more than worth it for peace of mind. Just sayin. Except every time I've gone to Davis on a weekday your lucky to get on three loads with 2 hours in between. Lodi... Show up at 10am, easy to get in 5 or more with little waiting most days for 65 dollars. $7 less then 4 will cost you at Davis. it's 5 dollars to 3000 officially, occasionally you'll get 4000. I have never had a hard time finding someone to jump with there. But yeah, the culture is a little different then most if not all places. \ For some reason Davis have a hard time turning loads on the weekends even for $18. Looks like a lot of fun jumpers just left for some reason. Davis is still my favorite home DZ and I don't mind paying even $24, but its only because I do no more than 2 jumps a weekend and I do like Davis vibes. But I do understand folks that want to jump 10 times a day - jumping @ Byron or Lodi does make more sense. I'm aware of the "plane issue" of the Lodi, but when I cut away on the rental Bill didn't charge me a penny and told me to get another rig and jump again! Unfortunately Byron did not have a student gear that is ok to jump for someone who is 250lbs, but Davis did and I do appreciate it, that's why I still jump there.
  8. I had to take a "vacation" for a 6 month after my 1st jump (Static line from 1500 ft. with round D-5). I had 6 month to think about it. Don't push it, there is no reason to manifest next day after you ride the plane down. Wait a few month and think about it. Then download few videos: some pornography and skydiving clips - watch all of em. If you feel that skydiving videos turn you on more then porn - you are ready for a jump :) Don't try to foul yourself.
  9. Guys, I know someone who is really good with sewing machine and I was thinking to try to have my own home made tracking suite. Yes I will do some "copy cat" and no I will not sell anything to make a profit. What would be a proper fabric to start with? I'm not trying to make a bad ass tracking suit, just want to try something out. Thanks P.S. labour charge of "someone" is about $5/hr
  10. I did a few jumps back in 98 from AN-2... IDK what is all this shit about, but I'd rather spend 30 mins to get to Hop and Pop altitude instead of climbing out of 182 that get to the same altitude not so much faster with 4 jumpers then An :) and yeah.. I second that An-2 don't need a damn runaway! :)

    Lufthansa

Guys, i flew a lot for a past 10 years, most of my trans-Atlantic trips were done with Lufthansa. I flew to Hawaii couple of times with Delta. Lufthansa have an open bar and flight attendants looks like a German porn stars making some extra money. When I flew Delta last time to Maui I had to fill out some paper that I don't bring any animals, bugs and shit, flight attendant was so fat that she will bust any tandem rig TSO jumping that shit solo, when I asked for a pen to fill that damn paper she said that she got no pen.... so you charge $5 for a god damn beer and you got no pen? WTF? I'm drunk and have to vent this shit out...

  14. I'm a noob too, I bought Solo II reticently, now I don't use it, guess why? I lost my altitude awareness, I stopped looking on my wrist alti after 10 jumps with audible. There so many talks about gopro @ 200 jumps, but not so many about audible. Use that money to buy something else!
  15. Look at this another way. She will go out with you a few times then you guys do a few 2ways ect ect, but then shit didn't work out for some reason, hard feelings, ect. Will you go to your DZ after that? Do you have another DZ nearby? I do have a few good looking girls at work, but I will never ask them out because I know that there might be consequences. But also you may ended up just being friends. I think skydiving chicks are not drama queens, but a lot of guys are By the way, if you being shy and can't approach her, just buy her 10 jump tickets and most likely she will ask you out first
  16. Most likely it will be either PDR 281 or Smart 250 - both are up to 300 lbs MEW I believe.
  17. Please correct me If I'm wrong. Wings TSO C23 D MEW 254lbs up to 150knts Vortex II TSO C23 D MEW 300lbs up to 150knts 2 similar TSO but different numbers, why is that? I'm 280lbs out the door, and seems like "budget" container that will be ok for me is only Vortex II? Altico Dolphin is 254lbs MEW too :(
  18. That is some very nice info. Thanks
  19. So when it's time to reline - you may use Pilot's line set to make it aka Pilot? Reminds me an AMD Phenom that i bought. They locked 2 cores in quad core CPU - then re brand it to sell it as E-series Intel CPU competitor :)
  20. Just checked and it is ZP now http://flyaerodyne.com/solo.html Do you know why they changed that? May be its easier to make 1 canopy and use 2 different line sets?
  21. Hello, I've been told that Hybrid canopies is made mostly for students for ease of packing and that flying characteristics is not differ. I was jumping Voyager 280 since my aff 1, it was an old canopy with probably close to 1k jumps. Recently all our student/rental gear got updated and I jumped brand new Voyager 280 and it was absolutely different canopy I was used to! My question is why not to make all canopies hybrids to make it easy to pack not only for students then? I think Hybrids are even cheaper to make? I just compared Pilot vs Solo price and its ~$300.
  22. I had the same issue, I ended up throwing ~$400 for XXL G2.
