  1. are you asking this due to the question Mike Mullins posted on facebook to get a free jump? If so go look at his answer :)
  2. I jumped it last weekend, but didn't get enough jumps due to weather to really test the canopy. Loaded it right around 1.7. One thing I noticed was it had very light riser pressure and responsive on toggles when you told it to go. It was very stable and had on heading openings. They say it has a shorter recovery arc like a stiletto but I've never jumped one of those to compare it.
  3. There is usually a reasonable charge for it. . Every time I've demo'd canopies at boogies there is no charge for it. The only time I've been charged is when you demo canopies directly through the manufacture and it has to be shipped to you and you keep it for 2 weekends.
  4. We use sony vegas at our dropzone and have recently started using swoopware that is incorporated into vegas. After setting everything up you plug in your cameras and swoopware does the rest. It takes sometime to setup, but I'm glad we made the switch. Takes about 5-10 minutes to burn stills/videos. (using cx cameras) If interested you can pm me
  5. we pay 35 per video/stills. If you edit you make 6$ more. We charge 80 for the video/still package.
  6. I've won 2 things from raffles where I usually put in 100 bucks. 1st thing I won was a reserve handle and 2nd thing I won was a 15 or 25% off a tony suit coupon Had a buddy cutaway and she lost her handle. I gave her mine. I gave the coupon to another person who planned on ordering a suit. I thought about selling the coupon but it wasn't worth what I put in to get it. When I was buying new gear I saw a couple people post % discounts off rigs, but since it was off retail price it didn't make much sense to buy that to save only a minimal amount. The only way the are really good if you win them or receive them for free.
  7. For Mirage you have to be active to get their military discount according to their site. Aerodyne provides the best discount for military but I don't know if you need to be active for that as well
  8. Decided to make mine as well. Put this together yesterday https://vimeo.com/80542056
  9. I have a small insurance policy, 100k. They know I jump and it went from 9$ per month to 18$. Still cheap but I'm 26
  10. It happened to me a few months ago. I was filming a tandem and had a guy spec the tandem. Before going up we talked and I said don't get above or below me or the tandem. Well he obviously didn't listen and went below me and I had no idea. Filmed the tandem opening and turned back to my belly and looked down. I saw the canopy inflating, and I pulled. Everything worked out and I got lucky. I landed and the guy said, "Did you see me?" If i was in the situation again I would go with the other approach. I don't remember this situation coming up in any FJC or throughout my training. It could have been mentioned but I forgot it if I was.
  11. Here's another scenario...I've had this discussion with a few other people. You look below you and see a canopy inflating. Do you: 1). Try to avoid it by falling past it 2). Pull and hope to not have a canopy collision Granted you hope to never have to pick either one but which would you choose and why?
  12. what happens if you track up or down jump run and track into another group?
  13. the video doesn't show the whole dive, just the very end of it. I could tell you what they dive was suppose to be, but it isn't to important. Chuck pointed out the main point on how to handle the situation. If you go low on a formation don't track away early. The guy who did this had enough jumps to know this but I guess it slipped his mind. I'm glad nothing bad happened and it will serve yet another learning experience.
  14. mostly just the weekend, sometimes we do weekdays but not to often
  15. Yes 20 minutes North of Downtown Shreveport. We are a smaller DZ operating a 182 ATM, but have plans on getting a caravan for the winter months. Come check us out. As far as bigger dropzones, Dallas is your closest which is about 3 hours from shreveport. You can also go to spaceland or back to gold coast which are about 5 hours away.
  16. It took me 3 tries to pass the dummy pulls. I was on a static line and they wanted me to beat the static line. (I now disagree that you have to "beat" the static line in order to pass but I'm not a SL instructor) 1st time I went back to throw and I knocked out the handle- Failed. Next 2 times I got the handle but it was after the SL had pulled the parachute. My advice is just practice practice practice on the ground! Know that the rig could shift so ask your instructor to move the rig around on you and you are still able to find the handle

  18. I've only had good experiences from Aerodyne's customer service as well from demo's to canopy repair.
  19. If one is a TI and not a USPA TI, what does he have to do? I think I've heard just make 1 extra jump but I could be way off??
  20. I have HMA on both of my pilot 150s and have not noticed any difference. (Had spectra on my 168). Load them around 1.4
  21. I've had the problem of my riser cover coming undone. It ended up being the cover was cut too short and needed to be sent back to the manufacture. Hopefully it will fix the problem. Still waiting on getting it back. This wasn't on a wings or with magnetic riser covers but I could see how it could be the same problem. Like chuck said contact the manufacture and see what they say
  22. look at pictures of the curve from rigging innovations :)
  23. Tandem-AFF progression. Do a few tandems then move onto AFF with a single instructor

    Tipping

At my DZ's tips are very rare. We have a little jar in manifest that is to the side for tips. I can count on one hand how many times I have gotten tips as the videographer (I guess I'm doing something wrong) I am not sure how much our TI's are getting from tips but I don't think it is that often. I know when I did my 1st tandem I didn't tip my instructor.
