  1. Quade, Could you elaborate on this a little more. I've been to drop zones that come close to fitting the description the author gave (shack, lockers, duct tape plane, etc...) but in no way did I feel they were contributing to the "typical skydiver stereo-type'. Rather, the people at the DZ were all there to have fun and share in something special. Perhaps they don't have the resources of some of the larger DZs but I don't understand how they (this case) would contribute to a stereo-type that we're all "crazy nutzos or something". (present company excluded, of course, you all are freaks) Thanks.
  2. I can relate to that. I did my cert dive in the Puget Sound in February. The water was 52 degrees and it was snowing! J YSD#0009
  3. Oh yeah!! I have and he's floating around here somewhere J YSD#0009
  4. I'm a little confused. The tucktabs on my Reflex had the exact opposite effect precisely because they were curved by the previous owner. They would hardly ever stay closed. I say just let them wear in naturally. That way they will take a shape by themselves. J YSD#0009
  5. What's their reasoning for stalling/refusing to allow the new hanger? J YSD#0009
  6. I too have a G23 and love it!! My only complaint is the stock sights are just about worthless. After market nights are the best way to go. There is an after market mod that you can get on any Glock. It incorporates an external safety much like a 1911 thumbsafety. I can't remember exactly who does it but if my memory serves it was around $200. J YSD#0009
  7. Why not look East. Richland Skysports in Richland Washington usually doesn't get the rain and low cloud cover that places West of the Cascades do. Give them a call and find out. J YSD#0009
  8. Whoa!! That article is great!! Thanks. That answers a lot of questions that I had. J YSD#0009

    Freefly suits

Did you design that online? I can't seem to figure out the order form. Any help? Thanks. J YSD#0009
  10. Well the first dive was pretty big 10 or so people. The second one was smaller 4-way but the leader was in as steep dive rather than a back track. The big one was just a pain to get down to. It looked like everyone was a little floaty. J YSD#0009
  11. Whoa. Hold on there. I'm not saying we should/should not go in and oust Saddam. All I was doing is pointing out why Bush the 1st didn't.Remember 1991 was a totally different world than today. But I will try and address your question as it pertains to the situation today. First Afghanistan is not in their backyards. Secondly, the nations in the Middle East had no stake in Afghanistan nor did they have any economic incentive to worry about it. Plus if Afghanistan went crazy and had refugees all over the place because of some prolonged war (we know this didn't happen but what if it had) the middle eastern countries would not have had to deal with it. (except maybe Iran) Third, I don't think the people/populace of the Middle East had that much of a connection with the people of Afghanistan or the Taliban. Yes, there were/are connections between a selected few but as a populace I think there is quite a bit of separation. Fourth, the US had some legitimate (in the eyes of the world) reasons for going into Afghanistan. September 11, provided enough proof to the people of the Middle East that they could reason why the US went in. (This remains to be seen about Iraq today.)
  12. Get down to someone backtracking below you? I went on two this weekend and both times I was there horizontally but they were falling away from me like a rock. I tried everything I know. Arms way backup beside and behind me, arched like crazy, and spilling air just about everywhere I could. One person I talked to said to go into a dive to try and get down but I don't really know how to do that. Tried this once and felt like it worked only to flip right out of it. Any suggestions? J YSD#0009
  13. I will second that. I have been craving some good NW brew since I've been down here in California. Fortunately, I will moving back up there in a week. Just in time for the rain and snow. This weekend was sweet. I did 5 FF coach jumps, a fun jump, and a tracking dive on Saturday then partied way more than I should have. But still made it up for 4 more on Sunday. J YSD#0009
  14. Just a point of clarification. There are many reasons that President Bush the 1st didn't finish the job and go after Saddam. 1.) He didn't have congressional authority. The powers that were given to him by congress clearly framed it out that he was only supposed to liberate Kuwait and reduce the threat of Iraq's military might. 2.) The possiblity that the Middle East would become so unstable (not like it isn't now) after an ousting of Saddam scared our Middle Eastern allies *&#$less. Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and various others were all afraid of what might happen if the US took out Saddam and the political unstability that would ensue, not to mention the (albeit unlikely) threat of Iran running in and taking over Iraq after we left. Could you imagine if the US established permanent bases and residence in Iraq so that we could establish a democratic government in a region that doesn't look very highly upon the US and has only a handful of democracies to speak of? Bad news was all that could come of it. (not to say that it isn't worse now) 3 and finally.) We had no guarrantee that we could have even found Saddam or that any government we put in place would last once we left. We would have needed to establish a permanent residence in Iraq (much like Afganistan) which would not be tolerated by the populace of any of the countries in the region and could have quite possibly caused a global crisis because of all the oil in the region. I'm not arguing one way or the other on whether or not we should go in now. Just pointing out a few reasons why we didn't go after Saddam then. J YSD#0009
  15. D wha happen?? Is that even possible? It sort of sounds like an oxymoron to me? J YSD#0009
  16. Personally, I don't agree with this. I've been on a two way where I opened about 500ft lower than the other guy and we were way out there. I made it back comfortably under my Hornet and he landed way off. I load my 170 at 1.2 and he was loading his 210 and .9. It was easy to see him falling down and away from me. No radical turns or anything just straight flight. Just my $.02. J YSD#0009
  17. Yep I check out everyone as well as myself multiple times on the way up. In the last two weeks I've caught three RSL's not hooked up and a chest strap misrouted. Gear checks are always a good idea. J YSD#0009
  18. Whoa! That looks pretty cool. Has anyone ever heard of this falling off? J YSD#0009
  19. I checked mine this weekend. It has a little over 200 jumps and the label is about 75% there. Personally I wouldn't worry about it too much. Other than the label the canopy is bomb proof. It is built really tough. J YSD#0009
  20. Whoa! Baby! Check out this plane. http://www.boeing.com/news/releases/2002/q4/nr_021018m.html (someone want to help me out with the link? Thanks) I wonder what else the govt.'s got up their sleeves. J YSD#0009

    I'm a freak

    ROTFLMAO!!!! J YSD#0009
  22. Ok your logo is a lot different than the one I think she's refering to. I have a Hornet as well and it has a logo right up close to the nose on the center cell. This logo is showing signs of fading and what not but the canopy looks and feels like it has 20 jumps even though its more like 200. J YSD#0009
  23. Ok ok technicalities... J YSD#0009
  24. Look at Rigs-n-Things I think I saw yesterday they were selling one for $822. J YSD#0009
