  1. I Agree with the Kurupee recommendation. I have their skeleton suit and love it - I was very surprised how nice it was built after I had read some poor reviews. It's really nice for the money and everything fit awesome. Double velcro cuffs, lots of material and looks wicked. ... 2. Mudflap mount, period. It doesn't move, it's easy to see, and it's not in the way. I make my own and have used them for years. Cheers! ... On landing a wise man once said: "A long walk always beats a short ambulance ride."
  3. can someone suggest how to shorten my PC bridle about 1"? of course, i'll have my rigger do it, but i wanted to hear suggestions of any good or bad ideas to use or stay away from. i had a rigger i trust tell me that shortening the bridle will fix the way my PC spins up like a slinky on more than 1/2 my jumps. he said taking off no more than 1" would keep it from spinning so much. it's just an annoyance rather than a performance thing, but it'd still be nice to remedy. thanx! ... GATORZ

by far the best idea is to contact jason peters. he's known for camera flying but he is a very cool guy that sells gatorz for, i believe, $100 a pair. contact him in eloy. i think you can link thru the skydive arizona site; he's a coach for AZTC. you can email them at their generic address: [email protected] blue skies, bro!
  5. great thread ... i am thinking of having my cobalt 105 relined. but, my question for cobalt dan and skymoney is this: how do you know when you really need one? i bought mine from lyal who runs eden north DZ in canada. so, i'm not sure exactly how many jumps are on it. probably 500-600. it flies and opens very well, so i don't want to fix what's not broken, but i also don't want to wait too long what should indicate to me most strongly that i need to have it relined without delay? thanks, guys.
  6. be careful on the sizing. i bought a "custom" pair and they were not even close. the tag indicated that they were "s"mall. i gave them every measurement and they were WAY too small. they base (or at least they did) the waist on your height, like on the non-custom pantz. i paid extra for custom and expected as much and was very disappointed. my buddy at my home DZ had the exact same problem (both of us are about 5' 6" with sneakers on). i sold them to a guy that weighed about 140 and they fit him great, and he loves them. the quality is very good. just be sure to get them to built for your dimensions. then, i bought the phoenix-fly version (of tracking pants). they fit kick ass, totally custom, and work incredibly well. i also bought the phoenix-fly tracking jacket, and no one can stay with me that has an ordinary suit. they're very cool, but you gotta put your feet on your ass to deploy, or you'll still have significant forward push. peace. ... 7. the only thing that i believe might be acceptable would be listening to music in one ear on the way to altitude, so that you can still hear anything else that happens. the fellow who started the post said that he has a pilots' license ... then he knows how important sound is when it comes to flying safely. in my private pilot course, i've been taught to pay very close attention to the various noises outside and inside the plane. they tell you alot. music in freefall or under canopy seems very unsafe, and if you were only risking your own ass, i could not care less. but, you're endangering others if you do it. for instance, can you imagine the disorientation of a slammer opening? have you had one, yet? it's very difficult to quickly regain your bearings and having music blaring in your ears could make it much worse. i had a slammer opening that made me think my neck was broken, along with some other body parts, for several seconds. i landed way out and had blood all over from biting my tongue ... the guy i jumped with could not believe that i did NOT hear him yelling at me just after opening -- i was headed right for him and NEVER saw him and NEVER heard him yelling because of the extreme disorientation from the hard opening. and this all happened on a sabre2 190 loaded 1:1. just something else to consider, friend.
  8. i'm with johnrich. piss on the gov't pieces of shit that took this bro's property ... and why? cuz he had some pot? let me get this right: it's LEGAL to drink booze (all you want, BTW) while pregnant, and recklessly cause a closed-head brain injury that is the equivalent of dropping the little guy on his head from 5 feet once he's born, but it's ILLEGAL to hang out in your own home and smoke some pot and eat some haagen daz? i couldn't live with myself if i participated in that pathetic industry-driven farce. that rig will be in your closet weeping for its true owner, and you'll never get any good sleep again. just my 2 cents. ... 9. I just jumped my new phoenix-fly tracking pants. I also bought the jacket that goes with ... both are awesome. I mostly just jumped the pants, and i loved them. apparently, everyone in the jump plane thought it was funny how my pants "Popped" into action as soon as i hit the wind. the push from my track was incredible, but i had to put my feet on my ass to keep from tipping head-down on throw out. if you like the fun of tracking, these can make it that much more fun, particularly if you pay the extra money and get the jacket, too!!
  10. i'm the one that started the thread on pat works' mudflap altimeter mount. it took about an hour to make once i finally found the perfect piece of plastic in an old goalie glove (the blocker, of course ). the mudflap mount (just below three rings) is awesome. i never thought about the packing-abuse the altimeter might suffer, and i made my fit snugly inside the flap, so it is more difficult to remove. i may have to shave some of it it off to make it easier to extract. i highly recommend it and those that have seen what i built also want one, now (git yer dammed hands off mine) . ... 11. alex ... thanx a ton for the link!! that's exactly the page i was looking for on how to build-your-own.
  12. I am trying to find a mount for my altimeter that mounts to the mudflap. A commercial one sold called "The Wedge" but even Skykat can not get it any longer. I have tried to email the guy in the U.S. who is supposed to distribute them and he never responds. I also recall seeing a post somewhere here at Dropzone.com that linked to a page that showed how to build your own. Anyone remember that ... or does anyone know where I can get The Wedge? Thanx for your help!! ... On landing a wise man once said: "A long walk always beats a short ambulance ride."
