  1. Most college educated people are liberal. They are products of the school systems which taught them that way. Conservatives can also be college educated but there was generally a gap in our education where we had a chance to see the real world and how Liberals like to share our wealth.
  2. With the Holidays, you gotta really figure its still a bit early for their 4 to 6 week turnaround. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  3. High dollar would be like chestnut, black walnut, oak, ect. The stuff that costs an arm and a leg at the lumberyard. NOT the shitwood that they turn into paper pulp. The problem would be the initial investment, and the taxes each year. Do you have a buyer in mind already? A lot of lumber mills don't pay a whole lot even for good wood if it's just "off the street". I was really just making a statement and I hadn't planned to sell it. But I do know a guy who had orange groves in Florida years ago. He said they didn't yield for 8 years or something like that. Sounds like a hell of a long time for a return. 4. They tried that in Ft. Pierce Florida a few years ago, I could have told them it wouldn't work. Corporate Jets go where the industry is, and there ain't any in DeLand. They also go where the beaches are, ain't any of those either and I wouldn't consider it a vacation spot. Just useless spending by useless people. 5. What are high dollar trees? I heard there is a surplus of wood since the tree companies over the years rotate and have planted many times more than they harvest (that's why wood and paper is pretty cheap). I own 80 acres in Northern Wisconsin and I have a wood company that comes in every few years and takes some and plants more. It pays the property tax but that's about it. I don't even know what kind of trees they are. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  6. Another excuse for useless spending. I both fly and jump there and there is no way in hell that DeLand needs a control tower. http://www.news-journalonline.com/index.htm Being in the General Aviation business for many years, I've seen this kind of crap before: Local officials (generally dysfunctional Civil Servants that can't get a real job), in a ridiculous attempt to attract corporate jets (It never works). They also use the safety excuse but the bottom line is that they usually chase more business away than they create. Though I don't see a control tower disrupting the operation to any significance, what a waste of millions of dollars for an airport that truly doesn't need it. 7. Really hard to tell so far since I'm still getting use to the fact that the PC actually collapses. But I understand with a sniveling canopy like a Spectre it may be hard to tell. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  8. Happy belated birthday! Ya got me by 10 years, but like the song "I was only 16". Enjoy many more years and thanks for all ya done for us. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  9. He's the one who brought Carl and his brother out to Camp Lake Wisconsin for their first jump. Must have been tough to loose 2 boys. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  10. Welcome to the "D's" and get rid of that "C" on your profile.
  11. Yes, it makes a lot of difference. Made a few this weekend and seems to work fine. First one I didn't and couldn't know the difference since the turbulence was so bad I was just trying to survive the jump. But 3 more today with smooth air and had to adjust to the extra glide but I think I got the hang of it. Should have done this long ago. Thanks all for the advise You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  12. Very nice site and here is the link to make it easier http://www.supportskydivers.org/ You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  13. What side has the base ramp? You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  14. Don’t know why you even bother to respond to threads, based on your reputation you have no credibility anyway. You are simply a nuisance with some kind of kindergarten mentality making you seek out constant attention. So go away and do everyone a favor. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  15. We won't be diving rather we will be driving. Billy Weber and I are driving drunks home if needed. Then comes the weekend jumpin at DeLand. The weather is too shitty tonight anyway You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  16. Thats what Im doing from now on. FedEx or UPS rarely loose anything these days and you can add insurance for a little more. Its also not that expensive and the DZ's down here are great about receiving the gear. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  17. What do you expect from a criminal country like China? This dysfunctional excuse of a civilized society only exists though their never-ending theft of technology from the US and other countries. Thanks to sex selection, these idiots in their policies has caused 32 million more males than females. Their constant attempts to hack into US Pentagon computers should be considered an act of war. I would cut them off from the rest of civilized society until they earn their place. Fuck China You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  18. Welcome, I think I jumped there back in the early 80's. I lived in Proserpine for awhile and I think the DZ was in Surfers Paradise or close to there if i'm not mistaken. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  19. Ditto that. No rush for gear and you can rent it for awhile. Welcome You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  20. Glad you made it. I wear gloves but I know the felling as my face takes a terrible beating when its cold. Hurts for 2 days and itches for a week. Must be the onset of frostbite. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  21. Notice someone shoving a colorful pack of some kind in his pants while putting on his jumpsuit the other day. I asked what it was and he said it was one of those cheap portable hand warmers and used it to keep his dick warm. Not a bad idea
  22. This will probably get deleted, but it never ceases to amaze me that when a fellow skydive asks for advise that some bum always comes out of the garbage can to criticize and belittle. Without mentioning who, its usually those who hide here with no name in their profile since they either a skydiver wannabe or even if they are, some form of attention getting is necessary in their little minds. You asked for advise on a situation you were obviously upset over and wanted some additional input, which most here tried to give you. Good Luck You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  23. I just ordered one from Mike Furry and will have it tomorrow and give it a try this weekend. Since I have a pretty good feel for the canopy in that I can land it pretty much where I want to, I should be able to tell immediately if there is any performance improvement. Will respond on that Thanks You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  24. Lee, I was actually planning to do just that when I order a second rig in a couple of months. I will just have to remember for the first few jumps where the damn thing is. The leg strap restricts me from several things I like to do or try, like tracking, sit flying and possibly a bird suit try. Thanks You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  25. If you really like the guy, then it would seem advantageous to accept his issues. Sounds like only 2 obstacles and he certainly can't help if Mom is sick, and the pregnancy is just one of those things. Who knows, maybe the ex wanted things that way but it isn't the end of the world. Why not accept his situation(s) and see how things turn out. You are in the drivers seat here, He has to deal with this stuff and If they become a burden for you, just run. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
