Ditto here . . only downside to my Kindle is it can't handle the cold . . e-ink screen gets funky if it gets too close to freezing. So no Kindle on mountaineering trips or late season backpacking trips

Maybe more that it pays to have enough low people underneath you I'm top of our todem pole but pole is only 3 ppl high. I split about 60-40 between planning and doing but that 60/40 comes across a 10-12 hour day. I get to interface with upper management and users on daily basis. Course that's why I'm moving on to better things come end of July Twelve years of this (17 total in IT) is enough for me

To the OP, that's why you keep getting a new version of Flash, due to yet another remote code execution vulnerability in Flash. Your IT dept is between a rock and a hard place . . keep the existing version and open your office up to drive by malware due to the Flash security issues or update the software and subject the office to whatever Flash's latest bugs are . . What a 'POS' bit of software. And to the OP . . before you rant about your corporate IT, maybe you should try the job for a week or two since you seem to be implying you could do a better job . . I suspect you'd change your tune a bit once you see what it really entails . . ZMC

Interesting zipper system for quick access to the guts of the pack. Mine is for longer, weekend backcountry skiing, weekend backpacking/mountaineering, travel. Its not an ultralight pack and it was pricey but quality is top notch. I don't expect to be buying another pack for many, many years.

More than once when I've been stressed with work, kids or what ever, I've been pleasantly surprised to hear - "there's 10 jumps on your account, get outta here & go have some fun" It's not about the money, it's about the value of giving access to your passion. Not if he's fitting his reinforcing material to an existing CIRCULAR structure, as his post suggests. Except that many arches only appear to be circular or parabolic when in reality they're some form of inverted catenary. +1 My gf has a similar setup. She had a standard TV + DVD player. 5mb cable internet connection. We got her a wireless router and Roku box. Cable modem, wireless router and Roku box are all by the TV. Cable modem goes into wireless router. Roku plugs into wireless router and she has her PC hardwired in to the router. With a wireless card in the PC, this could have been wireless too. Both roku and DVD plug into her TV (probably 6-7yr old TV with decent input and output capabilities but nothing too fancy). Roku enables pandora or netflix via TV. We don't mess with Hulu or youtube so I can't vouch for them. Pretty sure Roku does Hulu but not sure about watching youtube. Wireless router was required so both computer and roku could access the cable modem but side benefit was the smartphones and other laptops can use the wifi now as well. DVD is still usable when we want. Once we set it up, haven't touched it since. Pretty simple so long as your TV has enough inputs to keep all your devices connected. I'm sure there is a way to redirect all the computer output to the TV, which would be more flexible than the roku, which only streams certain services, like Pandora/netflix. Roku's advantage though was that it was easy and simple and we don't have to touch it. ZMC

Know what you mean about the Halloween candy . . not many kids around here either (Lake Tahoe) . . lots of vacation houses. If I buy candy to hand out, we get 3 or 4 groups of kids I end up eating outta the candy dish till damn near barfing Halloween night Good luck with the moles . . after getting rid of them, a couple of cold ones and Caddyshack on the tube might be just the ticket!

Actually, I think it sounds like both. Tracking up jump run certainly made a mess of the situation but exit order could have as well. For argument sake, say the solo tracker did track perpendicular to jump run but was a poor tracker (sounds like he's a new jumper). In this case, he wouldn't gain much separation from the line of the jump run and his position in the sky wouldn't be much different than solo belly flyer. Then depending on the uppers, the 8 way could drift over top of him. Never seen trackers get out first except on a large tracking dive with most of the plane tracking . . anyone know the rational behind sending trackers out first? I'm curious . . Nigel, Dave, Good luck to you both and I'll be real interested in hearing your experiences. I'm considering going back for my Masters in Fall 2013 . . got most of the way through once before when the needs of my young family caused my to choose immediate full time work over school. It'll be about 18 years later for me too if I follow through on going back. All the nervous but excited comments really ring true for me and I haven't even committed yet. Going back at 45 seems pretty intimidating at times. Please keep us posted on the ups and downs . . I could really use the motivation to make the leap
