  2. great book "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  3. it feels good to get that monkey off your back! "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  4. the closest i have ever come to not jumping was my level 2 aff. my instructor that had already climbed out and asked me if i was ready. he was surprised when i said NO! my other instructor just started saying the exit procedures. it put me into the rhythm and i went for it. i dont think i would have gotten over not jumping, and i have never had a problem with exiting again. go for it!!! 6. You had me at food and beer. Just out of curiosity, Its been a while since I have been to the farm, bout how far is the nearest source of food? Trying to figure out if I should just pack a cooler full of sammiches. (hmm... better yet, who can I get to bring me said sammiches?) Depends on what you want. The "Snack Shack" is open on jump days and will make you hamburgers/sammiches/etc. If you want a sitdown restaurant, 10-20 minute drive. So they do have an on-site source of food?? Out freaking standing!Quote i would bring something just in case, but there should be food and it is pretty reasonable too. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  7. proves it's own point. i dont know if that some funny shit or scary. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  8. that was put really well. thank you. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  9. Never fear. We'll fix you right up! Boss just gave me the go-ahead now that I should be home by then. Anywhere to register online or do we have to call? i don't think there is any online registration. they have a facebook page and that is where all the info is. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=142360225802326 "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  10. i ended the weekend on jump number 69 "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  11. i'm not going to give you advice but i'll tell you what worked for me. i usually jump in a pair of jeans and a t shirt or long sleeve t shirt. when it is cold or i need to slow down i wear a jacket. i took a regular jacket (with a tight elastic waistband) that has velcro bands around the wrist, sewed the pockets shut, and put a patch on it. it was a really cheap way to make a good freefly-like jacket. a suit will give you more power in the air, it makes it easier for you to move around. no suit at first, for me, has made me more aware of my body position. you really have to work at it a little more without the extra drag. shorts suck if you need to slide in a landing, friction burn hurts like hell especially when it is full of grass/dirt. if everyone else on the jump is wearing a jumpsuit, you need to as well. if it is a casual jump in jeans and a t shirt then just go with it. 12. i would prefer which ever one you can reach. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  13. flare all the way. a high hop n' pop helped me out a lot. the flare isn't just a quick stab of the brakes. talk with an instructor about a 2 stage flare and about flying your flare instead of the student stab. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  14. heli jump from 5k (i think) is 65. it is the mad skillz boogie and the heli will be there from friday through sunday. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  15. wow... i really like mine! "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  16. I don't know why I am responding to you must be because I have nothing else to do besides work. Ever think that the so called soccer mom works from home and can work her own hours. Not every attractive, well dressed, SUV driving female has a husband making 200k a yr. please dont hold it against me, but i think shah might be right about this one. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  17. chutingstar.com has what you are looking for. mike g knows all about them and can answer any questions. depending on your jump numbers, it might not be right for you. i was looking into getting one, but after talking to mike g i decided against it. for experienced jumpers it is ok but not so good for low timers. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  18. i'm in the saddle no lower than 2500 (i pitch at 3 to 3.5). the lowest i have been opened is 2200 and that was a heli jump. if it needs to be chopped i am doing it by 2grand. i wish some more low jump # folks will chime in. rsl cypress 2 "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  19. it is mostly a mental thing and not physical. i have never had a problem with breathing in freefall, but you can put your hands in front of your face and take a couple deep breaths, that should take the rushing wind factor out of it. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  20. an add is short for automatic activation device. if everything goes to shit and you don't have a canopy out around a 1000 feet, the aad will cut a piece of string and allow your back up chute to open. it is just a back up device and should NOT be relied upon. some dz's require an aad but most do not. it is mostly a personal decision and for me its cheap life insurance. it might not work, but then again it might save my life. whuffo is a term skydivers use to talk about non-skydivers. so until you make a skydive, you are a whuffo. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  21. i guess thats going to go on my "bucket list." "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  22. talked to the guy at halojumper.com and if you take a full load of 7 people the organizer gets a free jump, or he can split the difference and everyone jump for 250 apiece. so if you can get 6 other people to go with you its the way to go. im going up there next summer once i get a little more experience. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  23. i checked into the whole getting clipped thing and was told no. if you dont have a medical condition or kids already they dont want to do it. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  24. dont use cigarettes, find out what the winds are, watch a load land, ask an instructor. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
