  1. fuckin' a "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  2. Considering your age, has it occurred to you to stop living under your parents' support and make your own way in life ? When do you think you will consider yourself "grown up" ? im not going to turn down almost free health insurance. i pay this difference that it costs to have me on the insurance. forking out 400+ plus a month for no reason just goes against common sense. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  3. demo both and decide for yourself "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  4. and don't forget your rigger's favorite bottle of liquor. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  5. i have recently had to make this decision for myself so ill tell you what i think. if the wind sock is moving more than 100 or so degrees and the winds are faster than 10 i will NOT even think about jumping. i don't feel comfortable enough with downwind landings to have more than 10 mph extra on landing. if the landing area has a lot of obstacles around it (lots of trees, buildings, big hills, etc), then the air will have more turbulence at lower wind speeds. if it is wide open and flat, i feel comfortable jumping in higher winds. other people have mentioned if the up jumpers aren't jumping, they wont be jumping. this is very good advice imo. sorry i cant give you a magic number, but with everything else in skydiving it is a personal choice that involves a lot of variables. good luck and blue skies "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  6. you left off the LSD choice. with it you don't need a tv. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."

  10. i have heard of it but that's all. i haven't gotten to jump outside of georgia YET! i will have my B license in a few weeks and i plan on doing some out of state jumping in florida this winter. good luck with your aff and blue skies! let us know how it's going from time to time. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  11. i've always been covered under my dad's company so it has never been as issue, and it will only be one for 3 months. i hadn't thought about getting something temporary to cover catastrophic accidents, and i can swing a 100 bucks extra a month, just means skip one weekend of jumping. thanks for all of the replies "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  12. i am about to be 23 at the end of the month and i am losing health insurance. my dad's company has always covered me, but stops at age 23. obama's new health care bill (i would rather just not have insurance), lets me remain on my parents insurance until i am 26. it doesnt go into effect until janurary 1st so i will not have insurance from october through december. what are your thoughts on this, should i not jump through this time??? i really cant see myself taking a 3 month break from jumping. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  13. 0:3:0 i took my b license test and got a 90. just need to knock out a few more accuracy jumps, then ill have my b. cant wait to owe beer!!! "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  14. where are you getting your training at? "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  15. a skydiving day doesnt end till the bonfire is out. hang out after the jump day and bring some beer, friend are easy to make if you make a little effort to get to know people. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  16. Yes, but that's not why. With a steeper glide angle you have more forward speed, and more energy. You convert that forward energy into lift during the flare. thanks for the clarification. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  17. this is a link to the skydivers information manual, pretty much everything you need to know. i read the sim before my aff classes and i believe it helped me out a lot. http://www.uspa.org/SIM.aspx "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  18. i should mention i didn't "talk" anyone into jumping. the people i have helped all wanted to jump. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  19. The way I understand it, correct me if I am wrong, the steeper the glide angle the more flare power. With steeper glide angles you get more of a pendulum effect with your flare. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  20. I've gotten at leat 30 people to come jump since I started aff in July of last year. I tell them they can come for the whole weekend or stay and party with us at night. Actually try to get your friends just to go to the dz, when they feel the vibe it might make them want to jump, if not it's just not for them. Help them out and give them a skydiving experience, not just a tandem jump. There is so much more to skydiving than just the jump, we all understand that. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  21. Welcome to the sport. I would stay away from malfunction videos and the incidents forum while doing your research. That stuff can seem really scary when you don't have the knowledge to place it into the right context. Good luck and blue skies
