  1. i guess i phrased that wrong. i meant doing a tandem hang glider and releasing from the hang glider as the passenger, with the pilot still flying it. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  2. or is it even possible? "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  3. go to the farm. there are plenty of fun jumpers to jump with and the vibe there is great. every load is a fun jumper load (the otter can handle 23ish passengers). it isn't hard to get onto a load or find people to jump with. we both use the same airport. you can land on a 55acre farm with plenty of outs (if you even need them), or you can support skyride and jump at asc. what time of year are you planning on coming? "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  4. i passed a kidney stone last year. i didnt know that my body was capable of feeling that much pain or that level of pain existed. it was humbling. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  5. it's a repost but worthy of reposting. i thought the first three arrests were funny but the scissor lift is getting a bit far fetched. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  6. i jump a new dolphin manufactured in 2010. if you buy a new dolphin it will have tuck tab risers and reserve pin cover, as well as complete bridal protection. this means you can freefly it if you want. my rig is comfortable, and for a first rig i only plan on putting 300 or so jumps on, it was a good investment. you buy a new dolphin for about the same price you can get a decent used rig. why not buy the dolphin, beat the shit out of it, then trade up in a couple years. some people think the reserves are shit for dolphins because the reserve pc has a weak spring. it is true that it has a weak spring, but it has less flaps to go through than say a mirage, so a strong spring isn't needed. the dolphin system was designed by the same guy who designed the javelin. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  7. i am glad i learned flat turns early on. it has saved my ass already. i turned onto final and the wind switched 180 degrees and was blowing me into the corner (trees right in front and a fence and road coming in diagonally, no outs). had the wind not changed i would have been fine, but it did and i was almost fucked. i was able to make a flat turn under 200feet (i was on final), i got about 3/4 of the flare because i didnt feel i had the time to get back under the canopy before i needed to flare, and i was at quarter brakes. i figured i could get most of the flare out of it, and that sounded better to me than pounding in while surging forward. so yeah, flat turns can and one day will save your ass! edited to add: a parachute and it's pilot is a great book to read. it taught me a lot of things i didnt know i didnt know. http://www.amazon.com/Parachute-Its-Pilot-Ultimate-Ram-Air/dp/0977627721/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1294175330&sr=8-1 "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  8. thats too much. i got my A license for 1800 USD. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  9. i felt a lot like that my last year of college. work, an internship, hard classes, building my portfolio, trying to stay sane and failing. i have a photography degree and it takes a lot of work and time. it all piles up on you at times. do you say fuck it and leave the pile alone or do you say i can handle this shit and get it done. for my graduation present to myself i bought an a license package and learned to skydive, so there is light at the end of the tunnel. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."

  11. that's kinda disappointing. sounds like somebody somewhere maybe coulda kinda possibly overreacted just a bit. props to skyrider- you are such a bad ass they have to kick you off the dropzone on the internet "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  12. so now word on wtf happened yet. come on somebody, throw us a freaking bone. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  13. i hear you, i prefer jumping with jeans and a jacket or t shirt. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  14. im glad you added the carefully "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  15. i dont think it is the rental gear. i jumped rental gear for at least 50 jumps and only got a few line twists, which happened to be my fault (first time i jumped in shorts and was turning a little while deployment). i haven't experienced a cutaway, but i trust the people who trained me, i trust my rigger who packed my reserve, and i trust myself to perform ep's correctly. if i have to go to reserve, well that's what it is made for. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  16. sounds like jesus is fixin to make a come back tour!!! i can see the headlines now "Jesus alive and kick'n ass coming to a city near you" "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  17. yeah no shit, that's what i was wondering. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  18. knowing the statement could help... "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  19. thanks for the heads up "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  20. i think they get crazy jumpsuits for students on purpose. the one i jumped through my aff made me look like a pumpkin. good luck with your training and blue skies "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  21. better to see a video and realize that she is chicken shit than while making a skydive, less painful results. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  22. google says 4 hours, its 225 miles from nashville. i've got a buddy that jumps at SET, and he came to the farm for his training and drops by now and them to jump, so it is manageable. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  23. if you are planning on traveling to do your aff, think about skydive the farm in georgia. hans has an a license package for $1800. everything included (even gear/packing and coach jumps). probably one of the best deals around. i think its about a 3.5 hour to 4 hour drive from nashville. during the summer you shouldn't have a problem getting in the 25 jumps in a week. there is a bunk house you can stay in or 55 acres with two ponds to camp on. and the best thing is the vibe. great people!!! "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  24. best stoner song ever, very insightful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyk2-ezzE4U "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  25. it is in the 60's here in georgia. i took the bike out for a little while in shorts and a t shirt. fuck, i miss summer! "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
