  1. Thanks! Is that a slow jumprun or do you keep a good margin from stall?
  2. What are the airspeed on different airplanes. As far as I know turbines generally fly at around 80-85 knots. But what about piston engine planes such as C 182/206?
  3. JumpTrack works on Win7. You need to update it and it should work.
  4. I agree. It's about a year ago there was threads all over internet about GoPro 3 freezing. And now they did it again! If they keep doing this I believe people won't buy their cameras until they have published a few updates
  5. Sounds interesting, but with all those gadgets and a screen what is the batterytime on it? Does it have any way of recording it's information or perhaps sent by bluetooth to the phone and recorded there?
  6. They have not. It's still every 5 seconds. Strange that they did not boost this option too. I have read rumors that the reason is 4k. Basicly, if you record in 4k you have 8 M pictures 30 times a second. So you could get a screengrab and get the 'perfect' picture. I do not agree with that. Rather pictures and video.
  7. I don't know how this mount or bracket looks but although the newer GoPros are thinner, they also have a wifi-button that the older did not have. Don't know if that makes any difference for this mount, but mounts like Square1 'antisnag' mount needed to be trimmed down to fit the GoPro 3.
  8. If you are going to buy a ski helmet, go to the store, look, feel, and test it. They are not designed the same way as skydive helmets and can be a problem. All skydive helmets have a cut out area at the back so that you can look up (or when n belly forward), it's not to often you need that abillity when skiing. So skiing helmets are usually not cut that way and can limit you and it's use. Look for a ski helmet with padding by the ears, some have a zipper. Inside this padding there is usually a foam insert that you can take out and cut to shape for your audible. You can get a nice ski helmet that works great for skydiving, but don't expect any ski helmet to work perfect. My girlfriend found one that has a audible pocket and with more shape at the neck making it work good. It also has a open/closable vent system at the top
  9. Could there not be lag using a wireless setup? The thing with the FlySight is to get feedback as you do changes. Having a smal lag in the feedback could be confusing. Or maybe they are lagfree? Don't know. But I don't mind the wires. I have my earphones taped to the helmet and never take them of. If I don't use the earphones I just hide them behind the foam inside the helmet
  10. I'm interested to know what happens if the (as the rumors say) stiffener catches the trap in a normal reserve deployment. Lets say the user goes low and chose to use the reserve only without cutaway. The bridle catches the trap and pulls the RSL, maybe peeling the velcro, but then gets stuck at the RSL shackle? This is wild speculations I know, but since there is no real documentations of how it works thats all we can do.
  11. I have an eye for gear I keept an eye on your friction adapter and the chest strap slack and all of the sudden it was on the other side. At first I thought it was a different jump and different rig, but then I thought I have never seen a rig that is mirrord like that. And then I noticed the handles and altimeter Not to hard to catch in my opinion.
  12. This made me think of something. Why is there no digital altimeter with colors? Imagine the background (around the numbers) beeing green, yellow and reddepending on the altitude. And you could change the altitude when it changes in the settings. I know it will use battery, but why not? It could be a setting if you wanted it on or off to save battery. I think that colour display technology is more power hungry than mono. But not really an area of electronics I've had much experience with. I bet it is, but is it that much more hungry that it becomes a problem? don't know... Maybe a LED next to the screen would do, they don't use much. But might also be a problem to see in bright sunlight? Anyways, just a thought...
  13. Nice! I'm curious about the wingsuit jump. Is it not very confusing to have a rig that change placement of cutaway-, reserve-handle, altimeter and frictionadapter for the cheststrap all the time? What's the reason you 'flipped' the video?
  14. ...................................................................................... That is the scariest parachute accessory I have seen in a long time!!!!! What prevents it from grabbing your pilot-chute????? It's a twist lock. It will probably make it harder to unintensionally catch something. Not saying I like the idea though.

  16. I just read the specs for the new GoPro and noticed how the name of videosizes has changed. 720 is video with 1280x720 pixels 1080 is 1920x1080 Then 2.7k is 2704x1520, why is it not called 1520? 4k is 3840x2160, why is it not called 2160? Is it just marketing, or is there a real reason why the industry all of the sudden changed to use the "large" number as the name of the videosize?
  17. Looks good! Would be nice to see the data from the FlySight
  18. I don't think scuba diving or paragliding will prepare you for a jump. But beeing able to control the tandem and/or not spiraling will help much more. Did you tell him about you motion sickness before the jump? And about not refunding, that is really shitty! I understand that you don't refund students normally when they quit because they got scared, but in this case it's the instructor that got scared. In m opinion, the one that breaks the agreedment should 'pay'. If a student quits, then it's his own fault. But in this case the instructor breaks the 'agreedment' and should refund the money.
  19. I believe the english name for it is daisy chain. And as you assumed, it's because you don't want to make a mess of the gear. If you don't daisy chain and just stuff everything in your gearbag you will probably get a few step troughs when you try to lift it out.
  20. Just curious, would riggers be interested in an online service that makes logging, billing/invoicing, and serial number lookups easy? Interested enough to pay a monthly or annual fee? This is an excellent idea! Especially for SBs. I might be ... but most of us don't have a lot of income for something like this. I track everything as I work in a paper notebook out of habit (I'm old,) but also put everything into a database (MS Access) and all contact info in Google. It's just easier, and more reliable/portable. I've even learned some SQL so I can do database queries. Excel would probably be easier, but I've always sucked at it. I have never used the commercial logbooks. The FAA has looked at my stuff and they've been fine with it. Give this a try. Keep in mind this is only a proof of concept. The button to send Email is not supposed to be there, this is just something for now to activate the code. When you open the file this warning will appear: [inline Capture.JPG] Macros needs to be enabled for this to work. The workbook has two sheets, one with the logbook and one with your information. You need to edit the information on the second sheet for it to work. The emailsettings listed is what I think will work for Hotmail (don't use it myself). If you don't have Hotmail you can find this information in you email application or "email supplier". If you wish to test the emailfunction: First change "John Does" email to yours. Change the emailsettings on "Your info". Currently the workbook can only send emails if it's less than 30 days to repack. Change the repack date to a earlier date to make "days left" less than 30, or change in "Your info"-sheet the threshold of when to send emails. Click on the button and a email will be sent to your email. KEEP IN MIND: the information you type in sheet 2 (Your info) is not crypted and if you upload this workbook on a website/host or email it to someone they will have access to your emails.
  21. I was talking about closing the bag then moving it to where the risers end. Then taking care of the lines
  22. True. That was what I should have written :-) But some softwares might be harder to control, but should be doable.
  23. Yes! I used an excel sheet to manage the school gear when I was the rigger at a couple different big DZ's works like a charm. I never got good enough with excel to have it send out emails, but that sounds really hot! I like the idea of switching over to a fully electronic format, especially since my workplace can then have those records on file as well.... It's not very hard to make Excel send out emails. Just a few lines of VBA code. The problem is that the workbook needs to be open for it to work, so if you don't open the workbook once a week or so it won't do anything. If you have template that works ok, I can probably add the feature to send emails. I'm not sure it will work with web based emails (hotmail).
  24. Why do you believe the likelyhood of tension knots is higher when moving the bag to the rig? Is there any evidence of it yet? Has anyone with a stowless bag had a tension knot yet? I believe tension knots is one of the rarest malfunctions, so it would be intereting if we have seen this malfunction becoming more 'trendy' with stowless bags.

The snipping tool does not have to be open next to any other window. If you open the PDF, and then open the snipping tool it will open on top of the PDF. But that only works if you open the snipping tool from the start menu. If you open it from the desktop shortcut, as you did, you need to resize it or cancel the first 'snipp' then open the PDF again and switch window to snipping tool again.
