  1. I did that at Dave DeWolf's rigger course a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, I don't have any place to put a "real" sewing machine, so I'm trying to find a good compromise for now. I know Brother has a electronic knee lift on some larger home machines. My mom has one of those, but she has never used the knee lift. When I asked he if that was a knee lift laying in the sewing box she replied she believes they are hard to use.
  2. Or decides to shift it out of the way using that convenient silver handle? Or tells you you need to check it as bagage. Then it will be in the hands of the people loading and unloading the plane and all the dirty conveyers of the two airports.
  3. Are you asking me why Jerry calls his bag "NoStoBag"? I can't answer that. But the only thing I can think of is that Jerry means no line stows (not locking stows). The name of a product may sometimes be missleading, keep that in mind. Walk in to any low cost store and you will find batteries called "Super extra heavy duty max 2000 exxxtreme". They are not as good as they sound. I'm not saying Jerry is missleading with the name of his bag, anyone can see that it has rubberbands. Stowless and semi-stowless are not names, it's categories of bags in my opinion. Just as sportscars, smartphones etc. As an example, a Renault clio sport is not really a sportscar is it?
  4. UPT makes stowless bags now too? I only knew of the semi-stowless Particular on words ! Yes, most are ''semi-stowless'' and also the one, from UPT ! However, I believe, a few manufacturers might still used an all magnet D-bag ! Please have a look at the VASST Training videos, a very nice collection of videos at the PIA 2013...showing various manufacturers and their products.... especially UPT and Gerry Baumchen ( No Sto Bag ) giving a useful description of their '' semi-stowless '' bag ..... I'm not nitpicking, but different things have different names. Some people choose semi stowless because they really want semi stowless. And some choose stowless because they don't like the rubberbands. I choosed a stowless with only magnets because I don't like rubberbands and I don't like the tuktabs some stowless bags have.
  5. Pack on a carpet and it will be easier. Except for air in canopy as mentioned above the pilotchute could also be different from jumped vs unjumped. If you have a kill-line PC the PC will be uncooked after a jump but not if you only unpack it. So uncook the PC when you unpack it and learn all the steps

  7. http://www.bandicam.com/ But then you would have to start each episode and record it manually. Unless you create some macro-thing to do it for you, but that's not going to be easy I think
  8. Can anyone post some pictures? It's been a long time since I saw a Mirage, and I never looked very closely on it
  9. If they're a secret agent planning some shit close to the ground, they just might. Eh? Are you serious? You know the gear is not meant to work if you deploy slider down/off at full speed?
  10. I'd like to add to the vocabular list. When you pull the paracute you actually throw a pilotchute. It's a smal round parachute placed in a pouch on the right side at waist height. Look at any picture of sky or BASE rig and you will see the handle. Also mentioned earlier was slider down. Don't use that term. It's not realsitic that a person jumping from an airplane/heli will pack a parachute slider down.
  11. Hint: it won't work if you put a stamp on the VHS tape and try to shove it in your computer. Do you have it digital? Then just upload it on youtube.
  12. I respectfully disagree. Guns, fast cars, small canopies....don't kill people. It takes a retard to look down the barrel to make sure the barrel's clean, a retard to see how fast his car can take the corner, and a retard so pull hard on a handle 30ft above a grass field. Save this post somehow, print it, create a link or anything and if you stay in the sport long enough read it again in 4-5 years.
  13. Maybe you can unhook the kill line from the canopy and you will have the same PC but without it collapsing. That will make a good comparison.
  14. I'll give this thread a rating of 5/5 If you could make the rating system. How much of a punch would a helmet need to withstand to satisfy you? I'm serious. Because I'm quite sure any number you say can be too little in a normal incident with some bad luck in the mix. Keep in mind you don't want a 20 lbs helmet on your head
  15. Looking at his previous posts, he has a thread in recycle bin with similar name. I remember it beeing about him creating a youtube with extreme sports.
  16. Why do you want a higher speed when you are unzippin, stowing slider, adjusting cheststrap etc.? Learn to make harness turns instead while the brakes are set.
  17. I think I saw one of those for sale not long ago, it was cleaned up and nicely running according to the seller (a guy who fixes sewing machines). I was too slow, but I think the ad said about $700. My research came to the conclusion that it an sew #6. But I'll let the experts answer as I'm not sure.
  18. What is good about 'Brians' method is that you can't pack a uncoocked PC with that method. Can you be more specific about what an how it caused a problem with this packing?
  19. This thread got me thinking. How about attaching magnets to the tail/brakeline attachments to keep the lines in the center? It shouldn't be needed but will fix the problem
  20. Tailgate? Never seen anyone or heard anyone use them on sport canopies though. But keep the lines in the center and fabric out. Remember that the lines are in the middle and don't push fabric in there as you make the canopy narrower
  21. I bought a Espruino a few weeks ago and it's a very nice micro controller. It has loads of input/outputs. But for this use it might be larger than needed. So either wait for the Espruino Pico or get a unofficial Espruino board. The Espruino runs Javascript, and even if it's not my native language it's still quite simple. And all code runs instantly as you send it to the unit. You don't need to compile the code. I recently finnished my first project with the Espruino, a GoPro SD card cleaner. It removes the THM and LRV files and free up space on your card giving you enough to squeeze in the sunsetload too :-)
  22. Which direction did the canopy dive? Left or right?
  23. Ok. You say you had a left off heading and pulled the right riser to correct it. Then the canopy started to spin and dive, in which direction? Left or right? And regarding the toggles, they can look like they are set but still be unset. Especially if you stow the excess behind the riser, then it will look pretty much exactly the same. (don't take this as it's a bad thing to stow the excess brakeline) Sorry, reread the first post and see you had a 180. But that does not change my question
  24. Canopies respond different when brakes are set. You should practice using risers when brakes are set. I usually just make a harness turn, but then again my canopy rarely opens off heading, Did you perhaps by mistake free one of the brakes?
  25. Hadn't thought about taking an old camera apart. The double activation switches I've found are only a couple of quid so not that expensive. And Yeah the focus thing may be an issue, but I just wanted to make one to know that I can! Well if it's mostly as a fun thing, why not make it better than the normal doubleswitch? You could use a microcontroller that is connected to a normal switch. When you push it the microcontroller will first send a 'focus signal' to the camera and then one second ( or half a second) later it will send the 'take picture'. And since you use a microcontroller you can also connect two LEDs that will indicate focus and take picture. The microcontroller can also be programmed to have other settings if needed (no focus, or longer focus-time) depending on weather. Just my thoughts on it...
