  1. Well gosh darn it, I LOVE YOU MAN!!! Seriously though, we are blessed, between the "three squares" Sq1, Sq2 ans Sq3 to have the absolutely BEST employees in the world. If you haven't had the opportunity to wander into one of the stores, or chat via phone or e-mail, you should do so just so you can find out for yourself. I love this shit so much that I think that I'm going to keep on skydiving for a while more. Oh, and by the way, it's kate cooper and tony domenico (alphabetical, don't you know :-)) blue skies from a rainy So Cal morning. kate
  2. Yes, i was very pleased the Chris allowed me to come up front. I know that not all of the Otters did that. What a view! I got to wear a headset also so I hear the communications all the way to the 2 minute call (when I moved back). This really helped make the jump even more special (if possible) for me. For the record, I wore my freefly helmet (nvertigo) and goggles and only had icing on one of the jumps, the same one most people had problems on. The rest of the jumps were just fine. I brought my full face, but was happy to jump my "regular" helmet instead. kate
  3. Hey Chris thanks for being the bestest pilot! I was proud to sit right seat on Jump 2 and look forward to more in the future. I'm back in CA now and it's PISSING down rain. I miss the icy cold but BLUE skies of Eloy. kate
  4. okay, I take it back. :-) oh, and that wasn't an "article" that I wrote, those are real e-mails that I sent out during the tunnel camp. Arlo, I LOVE YOU MAN!! kate
  5. Aw, shucks guys and gals, Thanks! I'm in Eloy now, eating Advil and working on building the 300 way (and still having fun). You know, I like this shit! blue skies kate
  6. Hey now, y'all be nice. we sucked so bad on round 2 (speed round) that there was only one team that DIDN'T beat us! It was, however, a fine interpretation of a hybrid dive. We just sucked less over the other three rounds (but we did have tons of fun). thanks to Scott and Perris Skydiving for letting us play (and for paying the weather bill). When it looked like Scott's team might be a couple of people short of 16 for the first round, he was even going to let some of us do double duty, jumping on both teams. Viva Good Times! Next stop on the 2002 good times tour--ELOY!!! kate
  7. Congratulations to ALL the lovely women on the skydive, and all the wonderful people, both on the ground and in the air who helped make this dream come true. Almost $400,000 has already been raised, with more coming in each day. It's NOT TOO LATE to send in a donation! I am so proud of the DZ.Com family for supporting, in words thought and deed, the lovely ladies of JFTC, including our very own Skybytch (who owes LOTS of beer). A photo of the completion is up on the JFTC website and links to other photos will be added as they arrive. Blue skies, pink suits, safe landings and peace. kate www.jumpforthecause.com www.square1.com (unabashed plug)
  8. Hello, Dropzone.commers. I thought that you might be intrested in taking a peek at what 140+ lovely ladies are going to be doing high over Perris in less than a month. go to http://www.jumpforthecause.com/form.htm and you can view the formation, the exit orders, and where each and every participant will be docking. See the plane captains! Know who is in pink, and who isn't! Know who is diving and who is floating! It's an open book, and you can learn from it. Over the next days we will also be adding more information, including break off plans to the site. So check back for more information. If you like what you see, you can join us! You can jump at Perris during the event, you can join the companion event organized by Roger Ponce, or you can simply take the time to wish a participant on the event GOOD LUCK, and then be prepared to congratulate her afterwards! We are also looking for volunteers to help during the event. This can range from helping to pick jumpers up at local airports and bring them to Perris, to working with Richard, our event ground organizers, to ??? Any help will be appreciated. Any donations for our "goodie bags" will also be appreciated, this is a chance to help out in many ways. Lastly, you can look at the participants money page and see who is still working on raising her donations for the event. If you are planning on making a monetary donation, you can put it towards any of the participants simply by listing her name on the check. Thanks for your time, I hope you all enjoy looking at the site and the information on it. It's been a lot of work, and we at JFTC are pleased to be able to share it with the skydiving community. 9. Greetings, gentle readers I just wanted to add something else about Molly's decision to participate in JFTC. She is scheduled for another operation that was supposed to happen just prior to the event. She's now pushed back the date on this, hopefully her last, procedure in order to join us in building a new Women's World Record. That's how serious she is about this! Molly, I can't tell you how wonderful it was to see your smiling faced in freefall again. The last time we jumped together was in May of '01, just days before your accident. You are walking, talking success story, and you make me proud! Can't wait to see you, "pretty in pink!". Also, congratulations to all the other dz.commers who are participating in JFTC, both the women's event and the compation event being organized by Roger Ponce at Perris (slots are still available!). Thanks for all your past and continuing support, and we'll make you proud! blue skies (pink suits) kate www.jumpforthecause.com www.square1.com
  10. Hi Betsy Fair 'nuff. I certainly didn't ever intend to get this conversation going in the direction it did. I just perked up to a quote of mine being used to describe the definition of skydivers. I certainly do not think time in sport, number of jumps, or even success in various disciplines defines a skydiver. I was a skydiver after my first static line (I started in the bad old days), and, upon reflection of my life prior to that event, I have been a "jumper" all my life. I just needed to find like minded souls, and I did at the local dropzone. Blue skies to all the skydivers in the forum, and the offer of a skydive is open to all comers, space and time available. Now, since I notice that 100% of the Square One (oops, blatant plug again) sales staff are all monitoring this thread, I respectively request that they GET BACK TO WORK! :-) blues kate
  11. Hi! Actually Betsy, I bet, if you asked them, most would agree with that statement.
  12. Hi Michele I actually have non-dz plans tomorrow (horrors!), but might be by Perris in the later afternoon. If I'm up to it (read if I haven't had a drink yet) then I'm all for it. I'd love to make a jump with you, I've enjoyed reading your postings and musings immensely. This posting makes me a dz.commer, :-) so I'd be elegible for any records, right? Oh, and (flagrant plug coming) don't forget to check out www.jumpforthecause.com and help support your favorite sky diva on the upcoming Women's World Record dives! (flagrant plug off). blue skies (pink suits) kate
  13. Hi Jraf. I'm kate cooper. Does reading this letter from me make you more of a skydiver? Hell no. Were you less of a skydiver before you read this? Hell no again. I'm just a jumper, albeit an older, wiser one than the average bear. I'll be happy to make a jump with you anytime our paths cross though and you can make up your own mind about me. By the way, you do get the award for the best (and most consistent) useage of the name kate cooper in one posting. (polite applause from the crowd). Oh, and let's have a discussion about that tourist thing in, say, about 9 years or so. I'll be here. The first drink will be on me. blue skies kate
  14. Greetings! kate from JFTC here. I just wanted you all to know that Jump for the Cause has a great store on line at their website. The URL for the site is www.jumpforthecause.com and the direct link to the store is http://www.jumpforthecause.com/store.htm We have all kinds of items that the different ladies have been working on to help raise money for the event. Check them out! You can also go to the "in memoriam" site located at www.jumpforthecause.com/memoriam.htm where you can view and list fallen friends or family. Not a girl? Still want to participate in JFTC and help the Cause? Well, never fear, the boyz ways are here! We are bringing in a top level organizer to help put together some great skydives with guys who want to be involved with JFTC, but who don't want to wear pink! Here's the information: http://www.jumpforthecause.com/boyzways.htm Want to "Drink for the Cause" or, more aptly, join the JFTC team on a "Crawl for the Cause?" Contact Kelley Frederickson as she organizes a coast to coast pub crawl to raise money for the event. There might be a crawl in a city near you! If not, organize one and join in on the fun. So, lots of JFTC goings on to enjoy! Please contact me at [email protected] if you have any questions or comments. blue skies (pink suits) kate
  15. Greetings Another update from Jump for the Cause. Our goal to build a new Women's World Record in skydiving while raising money for breast cancer research is well on it's way. We have posted the current list of participants on our website located at www.jumpforthecause.com and are still actively recruiting for additions to this fine list. We also have a JFTC store on the site, which showcases items that many of the participants have created to help them in their fund raising goals. Check it out, help them out, and drop an e-mail to your favorite lady in pink! This year, our charity is the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center, information can be found both on our site, or at www.cityofhope.org Concurrent to the Women's World Record, we are also holding a mirror event. This will also be a JFTC event and will be geared towards people who are not participating on the World Record skydives. If you are interested in joining JFTC for some organized skydives during the week of October 14-19th at Perris Skydiving, please contact Jason Russel at [email protected]. Thank you for your support of JFTC in the past, and I look forward to another excellent event this October. blue skies (pink suits) kate [email protected] www.jumpforthecause.com www.cityofhope.org
  16. You go Kelley! I've already heard from ladies in San Diego and Atlanta who want to host a "Crawl for the Cause" in their cities. Anyone else? This is for a good "cause", and lordy, it should be fun! Thanks for being so creative, what a great idea to raise money for the Cause! We should be able to get one of these going in the UK too, right? You don't have to be a JFTC participant to host one of these, just choose a worthy participant(s) to shower the proceeds onto, and she/they will be pleased! blue skies kate

Hi! I have the following signed up: Cornelia Waymouth (who was on the '99 event), Tracey Echersly (who was on the '99 event--I know she lives in the US, but she's still a Brit), Sarah Withers, and Audrey Rowe. That's all for now, but I'm looking for more! At last count we had ladies participating from 16 different countries, and the list is still growing! We're working (slowly but surely) on our website www.jumpforthecause.com and we even have our own little forum up, although it isn't seeing much traffic yet. Maybe some of the DZ.commers can liven it up? :-) Let me know if you have any other questions. blue skies (pink suits) kate
  18. Greetings! This is just a reminder that Jump for the Cause is hosting a Women's World Record in October of this year. Our goal is to surpass the 118 way Women's World Record we built in 1999 by building a 141 way (or larger) high over the Perris skies. We have a website located at www.jumpforthecause.com with quite a bit of new information on it. Any woman interested in participating should send an e-mail to me, kate cooper, at [email protected] with your current skydiving resume. I'll contact you back. Any person interested in supporting "the cause" can find information on how to do so via our website, or by contacting me directly. Our beneficiary this year is City of Hope www.cityofhope.org Thanks for your time. blue skies (pink suits) kate [email protected] [email protected]
  19. Hi Remi (that is Remi, isn't it?) I got back from Malaysia last night and am on a plane to San Carlos (mexico) tomorrow morning. Can you say "jet lagged?". To back up what the Remster had to say, Borneo was a BLAST! I had a great time, 41 jumps from the C-130 and one from an Antonov 38 (pretty darn cool), many were beach landings and the rest were on the airport located about a mile from the hotel. The mountain climb was great too, not often you get to go hiking with three Dutch jumpers, two Canadian brits (you know who you are!), a German and a fellow yank. Two much fun. The ESA folk put on a pretty mean boogie and I look forward to attending more in the future. Rumor has it that the next one will be in Costa Rica, making it very "user friendly" for the US based folk. Gotta run now, have a month worth of e-mails to catch up in just one day! blue skies kate
  20. And a big THANK YOU to Sangiro and all the dropzone.com'ers for the support (past, present and future) that you are showing to Jump for the Cause. YOU ROCK!! Blue skies, Pink Jumpsuits kate
  21. Thanks Chris. We are really looking forward to breaking our own record, and raising lots of moola while doing it. There are some dropzone.com regulars who will be participating, so be sure to send them your good vibes (and pocket change) to urge them on. blue skies, pink ribbons kate
  22. Greetings! Jump for the Cause, a non-profit organization dedicated towards improving the sport of skydiving, is pleased to announce it's next project, the 2002 Women's World Record. The dates are October 13-19th, 2002, and the location is Perris Skydiving, in Perris, California, USA. This year our beneficiary is City of Hope www.cityofhope.org and the proceeds of the event will go towards finding a cure for breast cancer. Information on this event can be found at: http://www.square1.com/jftc/jftc2000.htm If you are interested in participating in this event, please contact me directly at [email protected] with a brief description of your formation skydiving experience. The formation is planned to be a 141-way, so please keep this in mind when applying! :-) Even if you are not going to participate in the event, you can help participants by making a tax deductible donation to the cause. Please help us set a new Women's World Record, and raise money for breast cancer research while doing it. Thank you for your time, and please let me know if you have any questions. 23. Hi, me again. sorry, I didn't know this wasn't allowed. I have been reading the forum and saw things for sale (necklaces, etc) and thought that canopies would be fine also. Apologies to all. retiring now back to anonymity... blues kate
