  6. Greetings: I am posting this with permission of BJ Worth who is spearheading a Thai relief disaster fund in the US. Please follow the links if you have any questions. blues kate Happy New Year! We have sent you this message because we believe that you may wish to join the other skydivers and friends who are supporting the disaster relief efforts currently taking place in Thailand - the Land of Smiles. Please accept our apologies if you receive more than one message. As you know, on 26 December a powerful earthquake and the resulting tsunamis caused widespread destruction to regions of South Asia, including Thailand. The people of Thailand and the Royal Thai Armed Forces have long supported the international skydiving community. Now, many skydivers around the world want to show their support for Thailand in its hour of need. The World Team Organizing Committee is working with the Royal Thai Air Force to make this possible. When we asked how we could best help in a tangible way, the answer was to send financial contributions that will be used directly to improve the lives of the survivors and rebuild the infrastructure and homes of the communities which have been devastated by this surreal natural disaster. A non-profit charitable fund has been established in the United States to receive contributions from skydivers who wish to support the disaster relief for Thailand. The name of this fund is “Skydivers Supporting Thailand.” 100% of the funds received into this “SST” fund will be sent to a disaster relief fund maintained and coordinated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force in Thailand. For those who want to help the Thai people suffering from this disaster, we encourage you to follow one of the following links: World Team or Thai Sky Festival which provide details on how contributions can be made. Any amount of contribution will be greatly appreciated by the gracious people of Thailand. Trying to do what we can to help... bj & bobbie worth
  7. Hey Lisa I have all the HP books--in hardback. I can bring them with me to work tomorrow if you want.. k
  8. Thanks Mar Another cool thing is that the missionary in Thailand, Loren Hollingsworth, is an active skydiver who participated in the mass jump over Bangkok last January! Even closer to our hearts and homes... Thank you to PhillyKev for starting this great thread and for matching the contributions. The more that is given the better--no matter who the organization is. blues kate
  9. Greetings I have an alternative option for those who would like to donate to an organization where 100% of the donations will go directly to help victims in Thailand. Here is an excerpt from an email I received from them: Thanks for your heart!! We will be glad to see that your donation gets to Thailand and 100% of it will go to those who are in need. We have a missionary there in Phuket (Loren Hollingsworth) who will be charged with directing the funds sent by good people like you. Our mailing address is: Court Drive Church of Christ PO Box 372 Palestine, TX 75802 Please mark your check with "Thailand Relief" The International Red Cross is a wonderful organization, but if you want more "bang for your buck" this (and other smaller organizations) have less overhead. Anything we can do to help is greatly appreciated. Please note this organization is for Thai relief only. blue skies kate
  10. HI all thanks for the greetings (and yes, Jason got the right age, sadly enough). I do like thinking of it in terms of 18th birthdays though :-) I'm in Vero Beach at my mother's apartment celebrating the first Cooper family Thanksgiving in many many years--much to be thankful for this and every year. Square1 employees are off the hook until I return! Stay safe and blue skies kate

  12. greetings we still have about 15 open slots for the big way camp 28-31 October in Perris CA. Coaches are Dan BC, Larry Henderson, Tony Domenico and myself (kate cooper). Come join us for some fun! blue skies kate
  13. Greetings: Jump for the Cause, skydivings premier fund raising and record breaking organization has set dates for its next event. JFTC '05 is scheduled from 26 September through 01 October, 2005 and the location is Skydive Perris, in California, USA. As in past years the goal of this event is two fold. First, to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research through our beneficiary City of Hope www.cityofhope.org. Second to set a new FAI Sanctioned World Record in formation skydiving for women. The goal for JFTC '05 is a 150 way. Jump for the Cause has set two prior World Records for women, in 1999 (118) and in 2002 (131). Information on both the current event and prior events can be found on the website located at www.jumpforthecause.com. Persons wishing to participate in the event may either try out with one of the many regional recruiters located world wide, or send a Skydiving CV directly to co-organizer Kate Cooper at [email protected] Donations are being accepted and can be made in the name of a participating jumper. The organizing committee for JFTC '05 consists of: Kate Cooper Mallory Lewis Tony Domenico Richard Seymour Please let me know if you have any questions. Why don't we attempt to place the usual flames, commentary, and/or misperceptions on how I demean women, men and small animals by donating my time to organizing this event onto a different thread for once. (run on sentence commentary also optional) blue skies, pink suits kate

Hi sorry 'bout that. As JP said we keep pretty good hours so this really surprises me. We do have all these items in stock. Question--you mention Square1 rigging. We aren't a rigging loft. Would you in fact be trying to reach Adventure Sports Loft, the rigging company that is on the Perris dropzone? They do rigging for us but are a stand alone company. If you are trying to contact them directly that might be the problem. Drop an e-mail or call and we will get your situation fixed straight away. The numbers are below for your convenience Again, sorry for the delays but thanks for reaching out to get in touch with us. blue skies kate Square1 800.877.7191 [email protected]
  15. Thank you SO much Kim for what you are doing for Paul and his extended "sky" family. His piercing blue eyes and million watt smile are firmly affixed in my brain as I summon energy to help him, his immediate family, you and the rest of his extended family through this. As Betsy said "hey handsome" is right on the money! Running over burning cars. Fuck. hugs kate
  16. STOP PICKING ON JAN. She is entitled to her opinions and she is my friend. jan taught me the inappropriatness of misusing term "girl" in public. I'm not 100% fixed on it, but I do understand now that this is an offensive description to many women. I am not one of those people who finds the term offensive, and I personally don't mind being referred to as a "girl" but I've had the luxury of being in an environment where it is not used as a derogatory word. Jan rocks. So do the rest of you. Now step away from the thread. Nothing to see here. Oh, and yes, I'm taking part in the calendar shoot. I think it's going to be fun, and that's what it's all about. That and raising money for a good cause. kate cooper jftc 2005

  18. BIG WAY CAMP, Perris, CA 13-16 May, 2004 Come join Dan Brodsky-Chenfeld, Kate Cooper and Tony Domenico as they lead you through a four day camp structured to enhance and improve on big way skills. You will learn and apply the techniques of diving, floating and base work in this 4 day 20 jump camp. You will receive training on exits techniques from both right and left trail aircraft, tracking tips, canopy control in large groups, and just about anything else you might have questions on when it comes to 100+ formations. The proven model that the organizers use allows smaller formations, 20 - 40 ways, to duplicate all the jobs, visuals, and responsibilities of a 100+ way formation. This is a “no fault” approach to teaching where you are encouraged to push your limits while learning. Any person hoping to hold a world record in large formation skydiving, who would like to be on their first 100 way, or who already has experience but wants to brush up on their skills should attend this camp. Quite a few camp participants are repeat attendees, as they find new ways to challenge themselves and learn each time they join the camp. This camp will also be used as a try out for the Jump for the Cause Women’s World Record being planned for ’05 as well as other large formation events to be held. Your leaders include Dan Brodsky-Chenfeld , General manager of Skydive Perris, founder of Airspeed and organizer of the GO FAST 300 way World Record. Joining Dan are Kate Cooper and Tony Domenico, who have both have been involved with most World Record large formation skydives. This includes organizing the last two Women's World Records and being implemental on the current word record of 357 set in Thailand during World Team ‘04 as well as the GO FAST 300 way. References from past attendees are available upon request. Dates: 8:00 am May 13th through 6:00 pm May 16th. Please be fully waivered and ready to jump by starting time. This year, as an added bonus there will be an optional tunnel block available the day before the camp, May 12th. This block is priced at $135 for 10 minutes of coached tunnel time and will reinforce many skills that will be emphasized during the camp. Tunnel time will also be available in the evenings of the camp by prior reservation, either coached or not, Location: Perris Valley Skydiving. www.skydiveperris.com has information about local camping, bunkhouses, and nearby hotels. Cost: $500 for 20 jumps, 16 from normal altitude, 4 from 16,000 feet with oxygen, many of which will be formation loads. $50 will be a non refundable deposit. $135 for 10 minutes coached tunnel time on 12 May (prior to camp). $250 deposit made out to Tony Domenico and mailed to the address below with completed registration form (attached) is required to reserve your slot (camp is limited to 80 participants), with the balance due prior to 8:00 am on the 13th. If you wish to attend the coached tunnel session on the 12th please send an additional $50 deposit and clearly state that you are attending the tunnel training seminar on the 12th. Credit cards can be accepted, but the above price references a cash discount of 5%. Minimum experience required: 250 jumps, 50 jumps in the last 12 months, have been on at least a 16 way and have the ability to close 12th or later on a consistent basis.
