  7. They aren't important--they're fun :-) The official name of this event is the Taurus World Stunt Awards. Taurus is a thinly veiled cover for Red Bull. It's in Red Bull's best interest to get extreme stuff on TV. It's all good, it's all fun. There was a LOT of red bull available at the awards. Who needs to sleep? :-) k8
  8. less is more, But you'll most likely not see me on tv unless there are shots of the red carpet demo performed (excellently, I might add) by Felix Baumgartner. Again, good show, worth seeing. k8
  9. USA network, Monday, 9 June (don't know what time in your area). It's supposedly being shown in 65 countries, so check your local networks. It's a good show. A great show. I know, because I've seen it. Twice. I was lucky enough to work crew for a skydiving demo into the event, and was on site at the Paramount Studios all weekend while they were filming it. Two skydivers get awards. I will not tell more (unless you really want me to spoil the show) but that alone should make you want to watch or tape it. You might see me in the background--I'm the one dressed in black. blue skies k8
  10. mmmm mmmaybeeee too early to commit. (honest) k8
  11. How 'bout How to get on and STAY on big ways aka--don't piss off the organizers... mandatory for all big way hopefuls I would think.... k8
  12. Actually, you'll be out there jumping with Roger Ponce and Larry Henderson. I got a last minute gig working in LA for the weekend. I'll be at Perris o dark thirty Saturday morning finishing up the bond gig, then driving to LA as soon as we're done. Trust me, you'll have fun without me. k
  13. Do I take this to mean that you'll be late for work tomorrow? Today it was the dog puking, tomorrow, lt'll be because you got laid. What will the Thursday excuse be? oh, BBarnhouse made me do it..... kate (who is off to eloy so she'll have to miss the festivities at Perris this weekend)
  14. Lisa, you've been famous for quite some time, just in a different way. I coulda done it different..... Jump with DA RACK!! (and some other people) at Perris, June 26-29th. Come and play with us! kate
  15. Greetings just a quick note to let you know that we still have some limited slots available in the big way camp to be held at Skydive Perris June 26-29th. Join Dan BC, Kate Cooper, Tony Domenico and your very own Skybytch in the air over Perris. Details and registration form can be found on the home page of Dropzone.com. I anticipate this camp filling to the maximum of 80 participants, so if you've been wanting to learn the ins and outs of large formation flying, and have considered attending one of these camps, this will be a great one! Questions? katejumpsATsquare1DOTcom Come have fun in the sun with us. blue skies kate
  16. Somthing tells me I might legally have to give a shit. not that i do. k
  17. Cool, like it. I have the DWB, you have a tent. We're both happy. Think anyone would notice? k
  18. I was jumping (doing 20 way competition) just under 12 weeks after a full shoulder reconstruction (left). This was due to a dislocation on exit from a DC3 on a big way. I got my main out and landed uneventfully despite the injury (it does hurt like hell though). The shoulder was weakened to the point that it dislocated several times over the next 3-4 months and I finally decided on surgical reconstruction. best move I could have made. It's 100% now, full range, belly fly, sit fly etc no problem (I do watch out for pulling chunks out of C-130's still though). If your serious about skydiving, and you have insurance, get it fixed, right, the first time. The procedure I had was called a "bankart lesion" and I guess is common among baseball players. blues kate
  19. Hey, I'm older than you and I haven't had the chance to have a proper mid life crisis yes. Wait for me to finish, then it's your turn. Deal? k
  20. Greetings we received word from Airtec this morning that the new Cypres2 will start shipping next week. It's cool. *water resistant to 15 feet for 15 minutes in fresh OR salt water (listen, oh swoopers) *Batteries do NOT HAVE TO BE CHANGED prior to 4 year check up. *will remind you when maintenance due date comes near *Smaller and Lighter (note, they did not go into detail) and much much more. It WILL cost more, approximately 12-15% more than the existing Cypres (depending on model). They did NOT give us the actual price in Euros, for some reason the announcement was e-mailed, and price lists were snail mailed. Go figure. Anyway. ANY CUSTOMER who has a Cypres unit on order from Square1, Square2 or Square3 that has not already shipped will have the option to upgrade (That means pay more, gentle reader) to get the new Cypres2. That's right, we're not going to hold you to the old Cypres you ordered. But please let us know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so we can get orders finalized. Anyone who wants to get a new Cypres2 on order give us a shout, we'll be happy to add you to the list! If for some reason you want an "old" Cypres (lower price, proven technology, etc) they will be available only as (Airtec words) current supplies last. That means you need to hop on that as well. I don't have much more information, this is hot off the press and I thought that you would be interested in knowing about it. Sorry if this is the incorrect forum, but i wanted maximum coverage for this breaking news. Blue skies kate
  21. A glass of wine to honor: the 16 (of 22) who perished in the Otter crash at Perris 11 years ago today. the 6 who perished in skydiving (CANOPY) accidents in the last 10 days my cat Nick, 18 years old, who passed on to fields of catnip one week ago today. sorry to bring it down, but, as TS Eliot says, April is the cruelest month.... Looking forward to May. blue skies kate
  22. What's more. It's little known that Saddam lost one of his legs in the bombing that reputedly killed him. Boy, were his body doubles bummed.....
  23. And, gentle readers, all (except for one as yet unconfirmed in the UK) under FULLY OPENED CANOPIES. We CAN control this. We HAVE the power. We HAVE the knowledge (in theory). We just need to WANT to control it before skydiving is controled "for" us. Be careful out there. Try not to run before you can walk, okay? death, lurk me not. kate
