  1. I'm sure it is just a coincidence because I know people can't just shit suits (i.e. it takes some time to develop these things) but it is almost like a competition between BM and PF to see who can put out more suits during this summer..
  2. Just got an email from Jari about their new wingsuit dubbed the "Firebird" which the newsletter states is the "best all around wingsuit in the world". Has anyone received their Phi yet?
  3. Last time I checked there were none, but that has been over 2 years.. i think the logic back then was to promote wingsuit development.. (or lack of $ ?)
  4. I guess i'm glad we're not reading about this in incidents.
  5. I've seen the video of a guy back in the 19xx's jumping off a bridge with some wing contraption on thinking he could fly. I would call it a jump of ignorance.. I think he actually thought he'd be able to fly with these wings. So I wouldn't call him a hero, unless you give him credit for trying something no one else had ever tried. I guess it was educational because we found out that design wasn't very good :)
  6. Yeah I'd have to say that was a here hold my beer stunt.. I'd like to hear what 'planning' actually went into it and the experience of everyone within 2 miles of that jump...
  7. I think you meant to post this in Bonfire.
  8. here Only 8 hours left, 50K.. can these even fly legally in US?
  9. Well it sucks I couldn't make it to skyfest, so let me live vicariously through you guys.. how were the flocks? Any pics?
  10. So is it a broken ankle or a tib/fib (as indicated in another post), or both? Either way it sucks.. vibes to you Amy.
  11. Wow 2 new suits.. delivery in 4 - 6 weeks.. anyone got their PHI yet?
  12. GS1 is already a step in this direction. Well there are at least 2 people interested, you and Yuri
  13. I was actually talking with someone (i think Yuri?) about seamless integration into a rig.. the consensus is there isn't a market for a "sewn" rig/wingsuit combo but if they could come up with a detachable system that more closely integrates the wingsuit / rig it would probably work. My idea was a zipper system where you can zip the wingsuit directly to the rig. Those zippers that Matter is so proud of may actually be good for this. What do I want? Hmm.. i'd like for the growing animosity between wingsuit manufacturers to disappear.. as far as wingsuit design - i think more experimentation with multi stage flight - i.e. being able to signficantly change the flight characteristics of the wingsuit while in flight will be pretty slick. I'd like to see development of something that allows you to maintain a desired body position with little strenuous activity (some type of brace system or something)
  14. You could always use flybirdman.com in the learning center for fly your body the PDF for the flight manual is there.
  15. For those who haven't seen the video, here ya go
  16. According to the poll we've had running for a while at flybirdman.com found here it is pretty obvious birdman is #1 with phoenix fly trailing behind....
  17. Less Action too. "The new Phi will be out this summer!" Posted by Kevin on Friday March 26, 2004 t Uh, are you talking about the news? I think you're seeing some type of cached entry.. we have news all the way up to 06/22/05. Let me know.. Try hitting "shift-reload" Kevin :)
  18. Less politics at flybirdman.com! See you there :)
  19. A large airbag the size of a runway would probably set back at least 1 million if not more. I'm not sure one that size has ever been made, so I guess it could be considered a "prototype"
  20. There is a good possibility. If they finish with them in Thailand Jari will send them back as soon as possible I am sure. Scott, do you know how long it actually takes (once someone is making one) to make a PHI? I was told by someone who was in the know back before PF existed that it took about 8 to 10 hours to make an S3
  21. If there wasn't a video of this i would have said it was photoshopped :)
  22. I've toyed with the idea of attaching a jet engine to a skysurf board to see if to would increase your airtime. Anyone care to calculate the speed at which enough lift would be generated for level flight? Those hobby engines for model aircraft can generate a lot of thrust. I guess it would have to be a BASE launch as noone will want turbines running in an aircraft. Someone has already used jet engines on a rigid wing flight, can't remember who or where but it has been done.. didn't provide much lift if any if i remember correctly
  23. God this thread is cracking me up
