  1. Ok VA birds.. this is my last weekend in VA and the weather is supposed to be spectacular.. who's gonna be at orange this weekend ?
  2. Wingsuits at orange? That's funny :-) I jumped there the past 5 years and have been pretty much the only wingsuit at orange. Very little interest by the normal jumpers at orange for wingsuits. Anyway I've moved west, but it just so happens i'm in the area this month and have a bunch of suits with me so if anyone wants to "flock" lemmeknow. This weekend was too chilly for me, but hopefully will be out at least one day next weekend and a few days the weekend after that. Kevin

    4000ft Glass B

Episode 22: WING SUIT BASE JUMP In this never-before-attempted stunt, Luigi Cani will BASE jump off a cliff with a speed bike; however, instead of going down with the bike, with the help of a specially designed wing suit, he will fly up and away from the bike. Luigi is the only athlete known to date that has worked with the specially designed wing suit, which enables him to fly up and away from an object rather than down. Another twist? Luigi has never BASE jumped before! So, he'll need to start with a basic BASE jump course to prepare for the stunt. From there he will do several high-speed skydives wearing the special wing suit in order to train his body for flight position with great horizontal projection. Then, he will do test rides with the motorcycle wearing the special suit and the BASE harness to make sure that he will not be lifted up and off the motorcycle while riding at high speeds. Premiere: Feb. 19, 2007 The cliff they speak of is the grand canyon. And prior to doing the stunt he jumps a base rig out of a helicopter

    4000ft Glass B

Not a chance. The landing area is what counts for aerial delivery. Okay so then going back to the stunt junkies episode with the base rig out of the heli and the motorcycle off the grand canyon.. i thought i read somewhere they got away with that because it was indian territory.. so where he landed was not indian territory?
  5. Happy bday.. btw, what ever happened to Kim?
  6. Uh, me ? Or some other Kevin?
  7. Hey, I'll be down in SAT for memorial day, any yearly boogies at San Marcos or surrounding DZs? Kevin
  8. As corny as the show is and how some of the stunts aren't technically that difficult, you have to admit it does give some good publicity to the sport. I just hope they realize they need to make sure to do everything "right" (legal) as anything on TV is going to be scrutinized
  9. So does the base rig from a helicopter not a no no over indian land too?
  10. well the stunt was cool, i'd love to have done it.. i don't think the wingsuit added much other than the oh neat and advertising aspects of it considering the leg wing didn't exist. i think he could have some how layed down on the bike with the leg wing still attached. that would have been cooler. Start the bike off with some type of training wheel setup or even have people holding the bike to get it started and having handlebar shifter.. he could have had a full wingsuit on. THAT would have been slick.
  11. I'm watching it right now and some toughts come to mind: 1) Was that a base rig he took out of the heli? (update: looks like it was.. isn't that a no-no?) 2) How in the world did you get approval to jump into the grand canyon? 3) Once you cut the leg out of the wingsuit, what's the point? It is almost like putting a wingsuit in a wind tunnel.. what's the point?

    rino gps?

does anyone have any in depth experience with the rino gps? This is the garmin doo daddy that will use the FRS to report locations of other Rino GPSes on your screen. I'm curious about tying this in with a computer so that you can overlay on google earth or delorme maps.
  13. Anyone heard of the new Canon HV20? picture for around 1K you can do HD If you're good with your japaneese, check out this page.
  14. Hey Medusa, How is your new internet invention coming along? Still have investors knocking at your door? solved that one problem that was holding you up? :) Kevin
  15. That plane to plane transfer is amazing, anyone know if that was Troy Hartman flying the "catch" plane? Kinda looked like him.
  16. Uh, Did anyone see the two page ad for BlueSky Tactics in Feb's parachutist? I'm a little speechless myself. here is the website clicky I'm not so sure about the "we train us air marshals" statement they make on the print ad.
  17. You may or may not have seen some of my postings reguarding my newest purchase, a LC-42D62u LCD. It is sweet.. viewing angles are not an issue. Picture quality is superb. I bought mine from abtelectronics, 1975.00 shipped. Kevin
  18. Oh it works, it just looks horrible.. and my def of horrible may be different than others.. things are readable, the screen is "stable" (not jittery) it just looks like an old VGA resolution.. looking over some of the other postings on avsforum it appears this software wildblue recommended might help so when I get back home i'll try that.
  19. Yeah when I uncheck it, the LCD turns black. also i tried the 1920 x 1080 with no success. still looks horrible. almost 16-bitish (though it is set to 32)
  20. OKay, So I'm almost there - i bought the sharp 42d62u LCD tv, bought the HDMI cable, Bought the DVI to HDMI adapter.. yada yada. Plugging into a ati radeon 9700. 2 Issues Big #1 - quality on the LCD looks like crap. i've played around with different resolution settings, different hertz rates, etc.. no success. Any tips? #2 - How can I NOT extend my desktop? The TV and computer are in different rooms.. so i'd like for the same desktop to appear on both screens. Right now it is "extending" my desktop so on the tv I don't see any icons, don't see a task bar, etc. Thanks !!
  21. Okay. I'll do that, yes it does have 2 HDMI. HDMI can carry audio, but there is no way to interface HDMI into a PC right? You have to do the HDMI to DVI conversion so I'll have to run a 1.5 plug as well - correct? Thanks!
  22. Okay, another question for you Technobuffs.. I am planning on getting an LCD TV, I had my heart set on the Sharp Aquos 37D90u, which was a 37 inch with DVI input. Turns out sharp has decided to discontinue this TV for unknown reasons... I can get the Sharp Aquos 42 inch for cheaper than the 37D90u was going for, but it doesn't have a DVI port. I'm pretty sure I can interface my computer with the 42 via the S-Video port but wanted to get those in the know's opinion of such a setup. Basically my computer is in the "office" (a different room from where the tv is going). I'd like to put a wireless keyboard and mouse in the living room with the tv so that I can flip over and be able to get on the internet or whatever from the living room. Do you think it will be hard to read text, etc via svideo over DVI? Should I find a different tv which has DVI? Svideo has its advantages when it comes to cost -- much cheaper to do a svideo run than a dvi. Kevin
  23. Now that i'm living in the land of nothing and nothing, (Oklahoma) i'm a little closer to the country of Texas, so I hopefully will be able to make it. I'm due for a good wingsuit event!
