  1. Storm Lorenzo is off the west coast of Ireland at the moment and will be hitting Ireland and UK probably tonight. Some wag posted this https://twitter.com/wayne_dunne/status/1179327198693597184/photo/1 Hope the link works .
  2. He should be taken into the House Of Commons toilet and be given a swirly at the very least.
  3. Why is it you make a post for the bombing of 25 ISIS terrorist but no post when you bomb 30 pine nut farmers. US drone strike intended for Isis hideout kills 30 pine nut workers in Afghanistan https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/sep/19/us-drone-strike-deaths-afghanistan-pine-nut-workers?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Copy_to_clipboard
  4. The raindeer dies. It snows and covers the raindeer. Years and years of snow cover the raindeer traping the carcass in the permafrost until the Earth warms up enough to melt years of permafrost. It's not hard to understand unless you try and spin it to fit your idea of how the climate works
  5. It's worth remembering that Tesla sell cars all over the world and not just in the USA. Tesla Model 3 was UK's third bestselling car in August https://www.theguardian.com6/technology/2019/sep/05/tesla-model-3-was-uk-third-best-selling-car-in-august?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Copy_to_clipboard
  6. He could have had such an easier week if he had just retweeted that he got it wrong and Alabama was going to be spared. Instead he has decided to double down on his mistake by altering the proposed path of the hurricane on an official plot / diagram, then he has had to rope in someone from Homeland security to to back him up that Alabama was going to be hit. If he had spent less time on the golf course and more time monitoring what was going on he would have had the most upto date information and it would have been fresh in his mind. He has decided to spend the best part of this week trying to vindicate himself while reports are now coming in that thousands of people are still missing.
  7. Trump surprised Pakistan and India when he said that he would like to mediate between the 2 countries and that his offer was based on a request from prime minister Modi. Trump’s comments came in the presence of Pakistan’s prime minister Khan who was on a visit to Washington New Delhi insisted President Modi had made no such request President Trump said Monday that he wasn't surprised when French President Emmanuel Macron invited Iran's Foreign Minister Javad Zarif to visit the G-7 summit in Biarritz, France. Macron invited Zarif, who was recently sanctioned by the Trump administration, in a bid to open talks aimed at lowering tensions between the West and the Islamic Republic.Mr. Trump said he did not want to get into when Macron talked to him about Zarif. He said: "He asked me. I don't consider that disrespectful at all, especially when he asked me for approval." French President Emmanuel Macron said he didn't ask for Donald Trump's permission before inviting the Iranian foreign minister to the G7 summit Trump insists China made calls at the 'highest levels' to the U.S. in response to crippling new sanctions and that Beijing is begging to make a deal China's foreign ministry spokesman said he wasn't aware of such a conversation Looks like people are now starting to call him out on his lies.
  8. The Danes have now stopped preparations for Trumps visit. Instead they are concentrating on the preparations for Obama's visit at the end of September.
  9. Trump calls off meeting with Denmark's prime minister because ‘she would have no interest in discussing purchase of Greenland’ I saw this headline this morning and thought it was just some journalist making up a headline to explain why Trump had cancelled his trip to Denmark. But its acctualy from his own twitter feed. Trump has tweeted that “based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s comments, that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland, I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time”. Just when you think he can you have seen it all he manages to surpass his previous petulant childish behaviour.
  10. Don't worry , he's going to get Mexico to pay for it.
  11. You really have no idea about this subject. NOAA does not use use models to fill in "the blanks" NOAA and every other Met organisation around the world use observations from satellites in data sparce areas. These observations added to all the other methods of taking weather observations (Amdars, Aireps, dirfting bouys, AWS, Human observations, sondes, etc) are used as model input data. Stating that there is no African human weather observations (with no evidence) is just plain lazy or lying. See the list below from a simple google search. I don't know if you are just clutching at any straw to try and back up your claims or that you are just in this for the argument but some the stuff you are posting is just nonsense. I haven't read through all your posts because I don't have the time or the will power but I can tell you that the scientists who work in this field are doing it for the science and not for some political end game. If there was overwhelming verifiable proof that pumping more CO2 / methane ,etc into the atmosphere was not causing the atmosphere to warm up and that warming the atmosphere did not have an impact on global weather then these scientists would be the first to shout about it (they do like the sound of their own voice) For example WMO reporting station from Uganda with 6 digit WMO Identifier. 12. Words are cheap. "This American carnage stops right here and stops right now" Donald Trump 20 Jan 2017
  13. Im surprised that so many of you still give this sad troll the online attention that he really craves in real life.
  14. What the fuck is a low drought ? I doubt this is WMO term. Are you talking about below average rainfall , average rainfall or above average rainfall.
  15. For every 1°F increase in temperature, the atmosphere can hold around 4 percent more water vapor, which leads to heavier rain and increases the risk of flooding of rivers and streams. There are lots of stuff on google about this topic. No doubt left' about scientific consensus on global warming, say experts https://www.theguardian.com/science/2019/jul/24/scientific-consensus-on-humans-causing-global-warming-passes-99
  16. Some good news. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/jul/25/uk-solar-power-pioneer-solarcentury-profit-grows-860-in-a-year UK solar power pioneer Solarcentury profit grows 860% in a year Profits from subsidy-free solar farms have helped to connect millions in Africa to cheap lighting
  17. John Mc Cain wss baited by members of the public at a rally when they said that Obama was an Arab. John Mc Cain didnt start chanting 'Send him home' he stood up for Obama and explained that he was a decent man who had different political ideas. People bending over backwards to defend Trump are tarring themselves with the same brush that Trump has used to tar himself.
  18. I lurk here now and again but I don't think I have seen any of your posts that would reflect badly on Canada. I am glad you offered him some "robust advice" and that you still fly your flag. Regards John
  19. In Bihar (India) , however, one of the poorest areas of the country, 49 people died on Saturday in just 24 hours France's 2018 scorching summer heatwave claimed 1,500 lives Australia heatwave Extreme temperatures hot or cold kills lots of people every year.
  20. At a time when America is trying to secure a trade deal with China they have just shown China that any trade deal made with the Trump Administration is not worth the paper it is printed on as America will move the goal posts at the whim of its petulent leader . John
  21. I'm not really replying to anyone in particular but I have been monitoring the following article for the pat 2 weeks britains-record-coal-free-run Nearly 2 weeks without using any coal powered energy. I found the graphs in the article very interesting that almost all the countries in the article have been increasing the amount of renewable they have been using at the same time reducing the use of coal over the past 18 years. I know that many of the countries are reliant on gas which is a hydrocarbon but every jouney starts with small steps and if the renewable technology gets cheaper and improves efficiency over time then the reliance on gas could go down as well. I would like to see greater use of Hydro powered energy production than wind or solar as it can be more reliable especially in Northern Europe where winters can be very cold and the days very short but even these methods of energy production can have an environmental impact. And it's not only Europe. From this site America has almost doubled it's electrical energy production from renewables in the past 10 years. I am aware that there is no "one size that fits all" but it is encouraging that there are a lot of people out there who are working to providing the option of using affordable and clean power rather than the dirty old technology. John
  22. I think they will have to do their sums again as Trump has now declared that he is imposing 5% Tariff on all Mexican imports unless the Mexicans halt illeagle imigration. However, if Trump is not satisfied, the 5% figure will increase to 10% on 1 July, to 15% on 1 August, to 20% on 1 September and to 25% on 1 October. Does this blow the USMCA out of the water or is the USMCA still waiting to be ratified. Link from The Guardian -
  23. I think David Viner was talking about the UK and not Global snow fall ALSO there is a difference to what was reported to what he said. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/steve-connor-dont-believe-the-hype-over-climate-headlines-2180195.html Quite often media headlines do not always accurately report the facts but are written to sensatianalise and draw the reader in and if these false headline are repeated often enough then people accept it as truth.
