  1. Tell her that is normal for skydivers. Out of focus is pretty normal for skydivers too. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  2. $9,500,004 Anybody know why the odd $4? It's out of the "profits" section of the judgement ($2,500,004). "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  3. From Urban Dictionary: Keagels - Sexual exercise wherein you penetrate yourself with a doggie toy, then make it go squeak-squeak all day for practice. Variant of kegels. Duuuude. Some stuff just can't be unlearned.... Now I need mental bleach.. Why? I kinda like that visual "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 4. No one in this thread has mentioned any pending lawsuits. The closest so far has been the comment "So who would they sue?". There have been rumors in the news of possible suits because of business losses, but that's all. The airlines are asking for "compensation". That would come from the governments that shut down the airspace. Presumably because of the arbitrary way huge areas were shut down with little or no actual measurements of the ash levels in the air. Of course, how big would the complaints and requests for "compensation" be if they hadn't shut down the airspace and planes had been damaged (or crashed and people killed) "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 5. Right (I think, anyway - I'm not an astro-phyicist). The gas giants that are close in would either destroy the earthlike planets or prevent them from forming in the first place. And the systems they are finding most are the ones that would not have earthlike planets. They aren't finding many (only one system so far according to the report I heard) where the gas giants are in the outer orbits that would allow the life-supporting planets to exist. 6. There was a story on NPR in the past couple weeks (I searched a bit on their site, but couldn't find it) that talked about how our Solar System seems unique. That the other systems they have found have the gas giants in close to the star, which would prevent any "earth-like" planets from forming. Admittedly, there are probably many we can't see due to inadequate sensory ability, but the astronomer that was interviewed was making the point that a system with habitable planets seems to be fairly unusual in the known universe. Which is causing them to rethink how prevalent life may be. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 7. Given that a lot of the religious types deny solid science that disagrees with their beliefs (evolution being the most obvious) I can see a lot of them refusing to believe that NASA had found life elsewhere. They would claim that the evidence was faked, or some similar drivel. I believe in God, and personally find it pretty arrogant to believe that we are His only creation in the universe. He gave us free will, and we are choosing to fuck things up pretty badly here. Why assume that He didn't expect that possibility and create other bioshperes elsewhere in the universe? Maybe another one ended up with Canine-based primary life-forms instead. Or Feline. Or Rodent. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 8. Another interesting article is on the Discovery Channel website. A DC-8 that accidentaly flew through an ash cloud. The pics of the damage are pretty disturbing. It's interesting how all the airlines are screaming to reopen the sky, talking about how much money they are losing. I wonder how loud they'd scream if they had to replace engines on a couple planes after flying through an ash cloud? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 9. Sam Kinison's Wild Thing "Why didn't you tell me you were a demon from hell?" It's been taken off YouTube, so you have to sit through the 30 second commercial if you want to see the video. 10. 0,2,1 Woo Hoo!!! Finally got my ass in the sky this year! Got on the first load of the season too. One high H&P to remember how the canopy handles. One 3way that didn't go quite as planned. But I was able to get down to another guy who sank out better than I usually do
  11. I didn't have to pack a round for my test, although the DPRE could have given me one. I know how to pack rounds because the pilot rigs at my DZ are round. 12. Stylistic criticism: Look at how the others post. It doesn't have to be "one line attempts to quickly insult", but it helps a lot if you double space your paragraphs. Unlike a lot of forums out there, this place uses a fairly old format, and can be difficult to read if there are a lot of lines of text with little or no space. Capitalization and punctuation also help (if for no other reason than to demonstrate your intelligence/knowledge) You have said some interesting things in this (and other) threads, but your style of long paragraphs with few breaks is a bit hard to read. Make it easier for the rest of us to understand your point of view and your points are more likely to be considered. Make it harder and you are more likely to be ignored. Or misunderstood by the idiots (and there are a lot of those in here) It's not a "rule", but more of an "etiquette" issue. And those aren't published anywhere. 13. Sure. PM a mod and ask to be kept out of it. (Aren't you a mod too??) The problem is that I can't see it staying anonymous. Too small of a community, too many people who are going to jump in and say "It was XXX, it happened at YYY and he was an idiot". Then the hatefest starts. 14. Thank God for skydiver humor, even with stuff like this.
  15. Mostly but not always. I drive truck and cross between Canada and the US on a semi-regular basis. I don't know how differently commercial drivers are treated, as opposed to "regular" civilians, but I rarely have any problems. I'm polite and answer all questions with a "sir" or "ma'am". I also answer quickly and clearly. Most of the customs folks are decent, some are quite funny, and a few are dicks. Maybe they are having a bad day, maybe the guy before me was a jerk, maybe they are just jerks. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 16. One thing - It's not necessarily an "or" situation. It's quite possible to be between 2 cloud layers (if they are layers of scattered clouds then there is nothing wrong with being there VFR). Then you can be both above and below at the same time. Then the reqirements of 500 below and 1000 above make a bit more sense. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 17. Why are you limiting yourself to just one breed? There's lots of dogs that have all the qualities you want, except the appearance. I'm not a "Little Dog" person at all. I used to believe that the best use for the yappy little things was to hit them over the head, tie them to a stick and use them as a mop (Yes, I'm joking). That changed after Skyler came into my life, via my now ex-wife. Dogs are dogs (mostly - there are some breed/class traits you may want or want to avoid). My best suggestion would be to go to the local shelter and walk through the dog section. I'll bet fairly heavily there will be at least one you can fall in love with. 18. sure there is. failing to blow usually results in the suspension of your drivers license though as that was the agreement you entered into with your state when you got a license to drive on public roads. This of course differs state-to-state. In TX, there is an administrative hearing scheduled within 90 days where it is determined what happens to your drivers license. That, however, does not constitute a lack of self-incrimination privilege. Correct. Failing to blow means you lose your driving priviliges. You can't claim "self-incrimination" for OWI and continue to drive (the driving part is seperate from the criminal aspect of the OWI). The courts have held that driving isn't a right. 19. Indeed. Which is why we have laws requiring driving tests before a driver's license is issued, rules of the road, restrictions on alcohol sales, alcohol prohibited rules in many public areas, registration of cars and trucks, mandatory insurance, vehicle inspections, vehicle-free zones etc. Nice of you to point out that there's NO DIFFERENCE between the two activities, one of which is heavily regulated for the public good, and one of which is not but obviously should be. Thanks
  20. Good luck finding any comparable sigline material. And it would be a long hard search through those marathon posts. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  21. Can you explain what is so wow about the tern negro?... ...I prefer not to use them, but you are free to do as you please, but is suggest don't do it in a pub with Maori and Islanders in New Zealand, It could be hazardous to your health. They are not Negro they are mongoloids but they hate the term none the less and I respect that... Well I would suggest you don't use the term "Negro" in a pub in America. It could be hazardous to your health. Black or African-American is what is used here. Negro or Colored is usually considered offensive. Yes, there is the United Negro College Fund and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, but those organizations were founded in a time when those terms were acceptable. Times have changed. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  22. Which one was that? I never got anything like that at all. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  23. And your point IS? That there's to be more fun for the Senate. Duh. Well, I think the folks having the real fun are going to be the ones spinning why Candidate X is (or isn't) qualified, liberal enough, conservative enough, the right race/gender, old enough, idealogically "pure" enough and on and on. On the positive side, the Senate is going to be busy enough with this that they won't have time to do anything else that's controversial. Anybody want to place bets on which minority (or combination of) this candidate is going to be? Has there been an Asian on the SC yet?? 24. How about a closing pin on the fuel petcock? Cut the "real" lever off and put on a closing pin. Small, fairly subtle, but any skydiver who looks closely at the motor is probably going to notice it. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 25. In a perfect world, sure. But remember that back in the 90s the Clinton administration dramatically increased the fees to renew FFLs in a deliberate (and successful) effort to reduce them. And although the government is supposed to destroy the records created by the background checks, they have consistently failed to do so (in clear violation of the law). So fewer dealers to go through and de facto registration by background check info. Sorry, but I don't trust the government that much. And I wouldn't be happy being forced to pay for a transfer if I was giving the weapon away (say to my nephew when he gets old enough). Most of my guns were purchased through FFLs, and several of them surrendered their FFL when the price got outrageous. Those records went to the BATF, so all those transactions are now in government hands. I have friends who have never purchased a gun through a licensed dealer. Never had a background check run, no record of a purchase that could end up in the hands of the government (and none of the purchases were at gun shows either). A little paranoid? Perhaps, but certainly understandable. In theory I could see a "Firearms Owner" card (somewhat similar to Illinois) where a person has to demonstrate a knowledge of safety and laws and perhaps demonstrate a certain level of skill. But that would be similar to intelligence/knowledge tests for voters. It's too easy for unscupulous government regulators to use it to deny certain people (or groups of people) their rights. Research a little history on gun laws. The first one was in Maryland - restricting gun ownership by Catholics. Later, in the south after the Civil War, many gun laws were designed to disarm freed slaves. And there were voter "tests" and poll taxes intended to deny them that right too.
