It is disgusting to me, to see that at this point in the poll, 50% think this behavior is ok ... :( ... I would think that regardless of party affiliation, people could see how bad this is. I'm in that same boat ... 6'2" and 145 .... I got a VooDoo made for me and it fits really nicely. I would expect that any of the companies can make one to fit you properly if ordered, but finding a used one that fits really well might be difficult and could take quite a while. I'm out cold, I agree with "either" that someone can reach for me. Given a choice though, I think I'd prefer the main. There is always a chance of circumstances being a mal and me waking up in the meanwhile, so keeping that reserve option available seems best to me. Definitely would not want someone to assume I have an AAD, and have it turned on, AND that if it did fire, the reserve would deploy successfully! Waaayyyy beyond my level, but do know a few folks who do these. To me, it really stinks that they expect people who have proven track records on multiple prior world and Texas state records to fork out money to do a P3 camp in order to get a slot in a TSR now. Aside from the insult that is to their skills, not everyone has an unlimited time and financial budget to work with. From my viewpoint, someone's got part of their anatomy lodged in another section, where it definitely doesn't belong. I do believe that in the context of this thread, "young jumpers" doesn't necessarily mean age ... it also means in terms of time in the sport. I didn't start until I was 45. btw ... nice show of maturity there!! People are trying to discuss ways to get through to those who are hard to reach (a group you certainly appear to be part of), and you come back with that? Disagree with someone ... great!! Seven jumps to get through AFF, assuming you pass them all on the first attempt. Then you still have 18 more minimum, to get your A license (total of 25). There is a proficiency card that you must complete containing tasks related to freefall skills, canopy control, etc. ... once all items on it are signed off on and you have the minimum of 25 jumps, you can send in for your A license. You can view the card here: http://www.uspa.org/USPAMembers/Downloads/tabid/84/Default.aspx and if you look at the Skydiver's Info. Manual (same page of the website) you can get a good feel for what most dropzones use as a basis for their training. You would want to look at section 4 ... the Integrated Student Program. ... and a higher activation altitude is also that much more likely to result in a two out situation! If you really want to stick with a higher activation, I suppose you could put a student Cypres into a sport rig, but I don't think many (if any) very experienced people would recommend it. Not determining your pattern until 1000 ft. doesn't make sense to me. Most people look at 1000 as being the entry point TO their pattern. If you don't decide on a pattern until then, you aren't likely to be at a good point to enter a standard, predictable pattern. One thing I don't usually see addressed in these discussions is canopy speed (other than HP, that is). I fly a triathlon, which is a slow canopy at right around 1:1, so am constantly overtaken by danged near anyone else ... LOL! I try to fit into as large a gap as I can in the overall scheme of the pattern on a given jump where I THINK I can best fit in with the least disruption. In spite of that, there are times when I know people can't help but overtake me. What's a slowpoke to do in situations when we can't either dive and get down ahead of most, or float and come down behind most ... ?? (yes, I know part of the answer here is to try to fly a predictable pattern, which I attempt to do). I have to admit, with all the canopy collisions in pattern lately, I DO think a lot more about being overtaken!! The ones I'm aware of require membership, I believe primarily due to the fact that a USPA member is covered by the insurance, and a nonmember is not? As long as you are happy with yourself ... who cares what the rest of the world thinks?

Thanks for the info folks. This brings up another aspect to this that I had not thought about. Where I did my AFF, a given student's instructor handled him/her on radio, so if there was more than one student in the air, each had their own radio person. It appears that it's fairly common practice for one person to handle multiple students on radio simultaneously??
