  1. I agree ... is why I figured at least 3 ways, with 2 rookies like me (or whatever you more experienced folks think would be reasonable ... and however ya'll define "rookie") ... what do I know ... 32 jumps!).
  2. If you're going to start "categories" .... how about creating one for us lowtimers who can't safely go on bigways? ... maybe like one I read about where a couple of lowtimers are coached by/jump with someone much more experienced .... number of points? ... I'm working on learning to use weights so I can keep up ... LOL !!!

"How about the accident at Spaceland? Anyone heard anything?" I was at Waller today ... one of the packers there has a sister who packs at Spaceland ... last I heard right before I left the dz ... guy was still in the O.R. ... only detail I got was that he had a problem with the aorta ... so it can't be good ... We're all hoping for the best possible outcome from the surgery.
  4. Borrowed a vest from one of the JM's today and made a jump with it weighted with about 6 lbs. It didn't help my average fall rate that much (ProTrack) ... only gained 1 mph. on the average, but at some point I did hit 120 (solo ... no tracking or anything). The fastest I'd ever gotten before without tucking in so much that I had no control was about 112-113 ... average today was 114. The weight was all in the back ... and the way the vest fit me ... put it just about in the middle. I sure noticed the difference in center of gravity when I flipped the exit!! I couldn't really notice any difference in how my canopy flew with that little weight (thankfully!). Next time I need to do a 2 way with it on and see how it works for me ... maybe with a couple of more lbs. Anyway ... thanks to all for the input ... will see if I can get my hands on the old Parachutist ... is before I started. Oh ... that website ... doesn't have anything on it now ... being revamped.
  5. AggieDave ... I know I SHOULD be able to figure this out, being part Aggie myself .... but I can't make up my mind on this one ... What is it that will improve ... morale ... or morals? ... lol ...
  6. hmmmm .... what happened to 1st load at Spaceland sunday? ... (btw ... supposed to get windy as heck sometime saturday on thru sunday) ... I'm gonna shoot for tomorrow if enough folks show up to send up load or 2
  7. Thanks! I'm 6'2" ... but only 145 lbs. (yes ... I DO eat!) .. bought a fast/tight suit, but can still only get up to about 112 - 113 with control. I have gotten up to 119, but was so tucked in that I was wobbling all over. I haven't taken a poll, but I'd guess that most folks where I jump are more in the 118 - 125 range. So ... I should try a vest with 6 - 8 lbs. first and see how much that helps my fall rate? I really need to up it, so I can jump with other people ... as it stands, there are few that I can stay with, so have been doing too many solos to learn much. One of my JM's (jokingly of course) claims I could burn in and not hurt myself ... lol. Also ... have heard varying opinions of using a vest vs. a weight belt ... any input appreciated!
  8. I have a few good reasons for drinking ... and one has just entered my head ... If a man can't drink when he's living ... how the hell can he drink when he's dead?
  9. It IS for fall rate .... I'm just concerned about the change in loading of the canopy, since I'm not really totally used to it yet.
  10. I'm not much past student status (32 jumps) ... am too light for my frame and am going to have to wear weights. The smallest student rig at our dz was a 215 ... I now have 10 jumps on my Triathlon 160 (puts me right about at 1:1). Question is, how many jumps should I get on my canopy before attempting to add weight (and how much weight to start off with)?
