  1. Thanks, all, for the opinions.
  2. to explain why I'm asking - I've only carried (never used) PD reserves in current and previous rigs. Now getting a new rig, and can get a better deal on Icarus reserve. Also, container may hold a slightly larger Icarus than PD. Any reason not to go with Icarus reserve? note: nothing against PD - I'll keep the PD reserve in my other rig.
  3. I am considering an Icarus reserve, but am unable to find much (one opinion in these forums) about quality. Anything I should know about flight/opening/packing/durability? Thanks.
  4. +1 I can't imagine service being any better. Ask them directly about discounts, specials, etc.
  5. Looks like it happened last year. Look around for a fresh one.
  6. Spectre 170 & Safire2 169 (one at a time!) fit my V348 w/ PD160. Pilot 168 zpx fit even more easily.
  7. Other than distance (Gladewater vs Dallas), differences include planes, people to jump with, and possibly days/hours of operation. Call ahead.
  8. Because every case is different, the easy answer is yes. Some are mild or asymptomatic, others with symptoms/signs that won't seriously interfere with jumping, and others that require assistance and special precautions. Do check with other MS jumpers or athletes for general precautions - eg. avoiding overheating, esp in a small plane during summer - and those that may only apply to cases similar to yours. (Many don't apply in every case - eg. spasticity, myoclonus, visual impairment, etc.) Good luck!
  9. That's a picture of my neck, after wearing a Guner 1/2 hour or so in the tunnel. Never had that trouble with it in the sky. I've only worn a Factory Diver (no chin strap) in the tunnel since then. I also fixed the Guner strap, but now only wear it in the sky.

    Rig Condom

I saw a team wearing what appeared to be dummie rigs, or real ones with condoms, several days ago at Paracletexp. I was told by a local coach (not with that team) that they were their regular rigs, with covers, but I don't know if that's true. (Saying anything else about it is speculation on my part. Don't know if Paracletexp makes some exceptions, if they were not really working rigs, or what. Kirk is probably the one with an answer.)
  11. I bought mine as a carry on, but haven't used it yet. Looks like it should work well, but I'm wondering if the metallic / foil looking liner will cause problems in x-ray. It's not rigid as it looks in photos, so should squeeze into tight spaces.
  12. Wrong and wrong. Pulled up last night and no subsidy from anyone. Because most people are unwilling to pay the 200/mth and would rather make 200 dollars worth of skydives than pay for medical care... Or drive a 200/mth nicer car, or live in a 200/mth nicer place.... Or drink 200/mth in beer... Or a combination of all of the above. Well, that's an example of why I try to stay out of such heated discussions, with participants (not just you) distorting or exaggerating the "facts" to better make their points. My comments were merely observation and admitted speculation, and not intended to attack you or your story. But they concerned the $100/mo policy you described, not the ones you're now describing that cost twice as much. I would have been happy to be wrong, and have you tell us all where we could get such a policy today. But being involved in the health care industry in several ways, and dealing with it at several levels, I know that it's unrealistic for most of us. I really wish I was wrong. BTW, regarding the original topic, Tim D'A may need to run on the platform he does in order to win in his conservative district, if that's what the majority of voters support. And his personality may irritate some, but might be popular there. But he'll have to find the right balance to be successful in pulling in donations from elsewhere. And I'm interested in hearing what he plans to do for skydivers, once in office. (I do appreciate his building Paraclete.)
  13. A decent poilcy with that sort of premium, and covering a significant pre-existing condition, sounds like something from the past. If recent, I'd guess that it's subsidized by her school, employer, or the government. And if it were available to most people, why would anyone be asking for help getting insurance? Please share with us where such a policy is available. Health insurance is the major expense for my business, so I've shopped. Just keeps getting worse.
  14. Wow! The good old days! And being young & healthy didn't hurt, I'll bet.
  15. Some of the language is similar to that used in previous scams. Maybe the OP knows more than that. I'd rather not be more specific, to avoid giving helpful tips to the scammer. (Fortunately, they haven't changed style much during recent years.)
  16. Hello Mark: I don't know you, but i think you could have been a bit more diplomatic about what you've said here, and to whom it was addressed. I'm pretty sure you're aware of the PM function on this web site? Later. I'm just guessing that he meant to make his point publicly. I'm still getting the full ad every time I log in. That's an improvement over every new page, but still makes me think less of Subaru every time I'm forced to deal with it. I am allowing cookies, FWIW.
  17. Thanks. It helps to know that someone is working on it.
  18. I'm getting really pissed at it. dz is not worth visiting at the moment. Is anyone familiar with Adblock IE (for Explorer)? I'm going to have to try it or the Mozilla version. I don't mind the dz site being ad supported, but not at the expense of my sanity.
  19. ***At first I thought it was shit. I did after the 3rd or 4th time. Even worse after the 10th time. Will check out adblock if it continues. I hate ads that move, and despise those that block the page. And I've never had one come up with EVERY damned page like this one.
  20. tetra316 - I would check your insurance, nearly all health insurance (employer provided or not) does not include skydiving or any other extreme sports type of activity. Any injuries related to that will most likely be denied. That's not true in my state. Just curious - how many states are affected, and where did you get that info? Thanks.
  21. Just stopped by the nearby Saratoga site. I'm not taking any business there.
  22. Go ahead and be a smart arse. Just don't blame us when you die.
