  1. Cheapest place to jump in America? Or the cheapest place to jump in California? Onward and Upward!
  2. Um, did you try calling them? Onward and Upward!
  3. I think we know what happened, we just can't figure out why? Onward and Upward!
  4. This is a link to a very touching tribute video to The student Fonz was jumping with. It is also a tribute to James as well and contains actual footage of his last jump. Be forewarned it is a real tear jerker and hard to watch for friends that knew the Fonz. As a video guy who jumped with James for an entire season it is exactly as I remember him. He totally nailed the exit out of the 206 Fly free my friend, we will never forget you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8HnjODfSR8 Onward and Upward!
  5. Time to call it quits and find something that makes me want to get up and go for it? Yes, please do us all a favor and go do something else, we have enough dorks already. Onward and Upward!
  6. I have heard that Steve did a perfect stand up landing and then collapsed walking back from the landing area. When people ask me my favorite part of the skydive I always say walking back after landing. Because that means I am still alive and my legs are not broken. Blue skies Steve, you made it to the best part of the jump! Onward and Upward!
  7. On the ground after the jump or what? Steve was a buddy of mine, jumped with him many times. Very sad to hear this. Edit to ad, I have been told he collapsed after landing. His last skydive was a success. Onward and Upward!
  8. I started back in the early 1980's But, back then swooping was something you did before the parachute opened. Onward and Upward!
  9. You know, Jim was here just a month or so ago and I COULD have jumped with him but I was busy, blah blah blah. I would really like to have that day back, Onward and Upward!
  10. I work from home and I love it! But in my case it is mostly my rigging business and used skydiving gear sales. When I am not working at home I am working at the drop zone. I have a nice set up so I can pack reserves, do sewing and repairs. My downstairs man cave is perfect for sport rigs but I can do tandems upstairs when needed. (it has a longer hallway) I have my computers and printers available to print shipping labels, etc. Very good gig if you can get it. Onward and Upward!
  11. According to Don Kellner's page http://www.dkellner.info/DonKellner.html, he has "well over" 10,000 tandems. I'd be surprised if Phil Onis in Sydney doesn't have more than 10000 tandems. He's got somewhere over 26,000 jumps, runs a DZ, and does tandems every day. You are right Bob, Phil must easily have that many. And of course Don Kellner and a few other people I have jumped with. But still, anyone with over 10K is quite amazing. Just the amount of hard physical work that takes is truly remarkable. To the OP, Good for you sir, I am also very impressed! Onward and Upward!
  12. It was one year ago today and we all still think about you my friend. Blue skies Arlyn! Onward and Upward!
  13. I would give up the war on terror, the war on drugs, and the Bush tax cuts. Oh, and the TSA. I can't believe we still pay people to steal my kids toothpaste. Onward and Upward!
  14. That dude is even dumber than dubya Onward and Upward!
  15. Maybe you should start jumping again, the sport needs your expertise and mentorship. It is too easy to stand on the sidelines and yell at the players. I know where you are coming from but I don't know where you are going to. The Genie is out of the bottle and we have to deal with it. What is your answer? I would really like to know. When I give the safety day presentation I always say that people used to die because the parachute did not open. But, nowadays they die because it did. Onward and Upward!
  16. Most of those clowns are not qualified to vote on anything but that does not stop them. I thought it was nice to see her recover and get back to work. Her single vote did not change the outcome. It seems kinda petty to begrudge her return after being shot in the head. Onward and Upward!
  17. Jamie Sides on the left? Onward and Upward!
  18. Last month I did 30, 28 hop and pops, a demo, and a ten way for the last load. The hop and pops were all from 2000-2500 ft. The demo was from 5000 and the 10 way from 12,000 Onward and Upward!
  19. Jauque is there, he is a stinky french canadian that works for Bill Tell him I sent you Onward and Upward!

I refunded your money Doug, since your donation already went to charity I will cover it. I certainly don't want you to feel put out. Good luck with that bio-mechanical thing. Onward and Upward!
  21. Me too, but I am just a kid, only 30 years Onward and Upward!
  22. Both have well maintained turbine aircraft, quality instructors, and good equipment. From a safety standpoint you can't go wrong either way. I have jumped at both and prefer Ogden for many reasons. #1 it is closer to my house. I like the Caravan better, the King air is faster but the Caravan is plenty fast enough. The King air is cramped with a full load and it has a tiny door that is too close to the tail for my comfort. It is fast but so what? the Caravan is fast enough and roomy with a huge door, long floater bar and camera step. If I had the choice I would go with the Caravan every time. I have other issues with a King air for a jump plane but that is another thread, do a search. Facillities Ogden wins hands down, Modern clean bathrooms instead of port-a potties, hot showers, and the new kitchen with granite counter tops. Ogden has a huge indoor padded packing area with clean carpets. The "Dirt dive diner" will be open this summer with a huge outdoor grill and there is talk of breakfast being served. Ogden also has one of the best indoor wind tunnels in the world and many of the instructors also work at the DZ. The tunnel is 5 minutes from the dropzone. We get $10 minutes for our students. The landing area at Ogden is enormous, it is the second largest airport in the state next to Salt Lake international. With the new "green grass project" there will be the largest grass landing area in the west with a huge pea pit for the tandems. The irrigation is almost done. I like the scenery better up north, we climb over the spine of the northern Wasatch and have incredible views of Snowbasin, Powder mountain, Pine view, and of course the Great Salt Lake. Onward and Upward!

Actually Scott, we do discuss my incident (although it wasn't a "cranked toggle"), and how it has had a challenging effect on my life and changed up my views on safety/training. I'm not ashamed of my injury, if that's what you're poking after. I probably should add some dialog that even folkswith 30 years and 3000 jumps can't successfully complete an AFFI course. Remind me to not donate again to your personal charity next time you ask skydivers for money, m'kay? Wow, Kinda sensitive aren't you Princess? I appreciate the cash donation you made and I said so in my private message to you. As far as the VASST software package you pledged to donate it was never received. You are the only sponsor that did not follow through with your promise. No big deal I kinda expected that. We did the jumps and raised a nice chunk of change for charity. And yes I did not finish the AFFI course, Tough to do with a dislocated shoulder. I was in surgery the same week you were. Your injuries were much more severe. I watched you bounce, I am amazed you survived. Back to the thread, Skydiving was going on before the coach rating was invented. Onward and Upward!

You mean like if you crank a toggle close to the ground you will hit the dirt and break your pelvis? That sort of thing? Onward and Upward!
