  5. That's a fantastic idea but I can't even imagine how much that would cost! I'm afraid to even look. It's cheaper for you to fly here than me to fly there that's for shizzle Oh AND you get a seniors discount too dont you Quick check $1350.00 return including Tax, LAX to Perth Sheesh! I haven't been a senior long enough to remember to ask for discounts, but then I don't fell very seniorish either! Since I live in Boise, that probably means another $300 or more to get to and from LAX. There are no cheap routes to anywhere from here! But, it's not as bad as I figures it might be. Since the airfare to get there would break me, who'd pay for my jumps? "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490

  7. And You still have not met me yet Pat,, just think how much richer your life will be when that happens If you think the best in your life has already happened, kill yourself now, because it's all down hill from there. So when are you coming to this part of the world again?

  10. Elsinore is such an awesome place to jump. why does this have to be during the school year when I can't get away? "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  11. Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great day!
  12. Your persistence and determination are great. You're working with some great people, too. I hope I get to meet you next month when I'm at Elsinore. Pat
  13. I'm 60 and just started skydiving 3 years ago. I have managed to be on two state record jumps and made friends in the skydiving community all over the country. You don't have to be young and cute to have fun skydiving!
  14. It was a pretty nice weekend for this time of year... 4 skydives! "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  15. Here's a link to the video on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLblHi2IUs4&feature=player_embedded#! It was sure awesome to share the sky with so many talented women. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  16. So send up a 182! The A license requires 3500 feet. I hate to see it being ignored. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  17. With planes dropping loads every few minutes, that's not a great idea! There's a canopy safety seminar Saturday evening. You should try to make it to that. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  18. Maybe for your water training they'll just throw a wet towel in your face. They should have you do the hop and pop from 3500' to get your license. I don't want to be the guy shoving you out of the plane on an emergency exit 'cause you balk in the door. I'm with you, John. And only waiting 3 seconds sure doesn't put you at 3500 feet! 19. Does Thursday count? I managed to get one jump and landed in the mud! Yuck! It was still fun though. I'll take what I can get in the winter. I should have some nice numbers soon, though. I'm heading to Eloy the day after Christmas "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  20. WEll, I've been thinking about trying a wingsuit for quite a while. If Spot has something that will work for me, I'll give it a try.
  21. Two rather chilly hop n'pops. The pilot said it was about 15 degrees at 5k. Not too bad at all. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  22. Correct. I got the same result. It's a pretty straight forward long division problem. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
  23. or 42 See post #27 Also the rules are, to paraphrase, describe or refer to a number and then respond with the number itself ...not the other way around.
  24. How do you get so many jumps in living in Idaho? Doesn't it get cold there in the winter? I'd also love to hear more about your journey. What sort of jumps are you mostly doing now? RW, FF, CReW? And what was your progression like? Any bumps along the way? Most memorable jumps? Do tell please! :) Oh, yes, it does get cold in Idaho in winter. In fact, I even started AFF Thanksgiving weekend. It made the first 10 or so jumps really difficult to get between cold, clouds, snow, wind.. but I was a bit stubborn and stayed with it. It took until the end of April to get those first 10 jumps. My progression was really pretty uneventful, except for landing. I had a knack for not getting to where I was supposed to. I learned how to pick a nice field to land in quite early. I did do a bit of tunnel time during a period when it was too cold for my AFF instructor. Getting the number of jumps I have has been challenging. I do a lot of hop n'pops. I love all parts of a skydive, so a nice canopy ride is perfectly acceptable. I'm also able to do a fair amount of travelling. I've jumped in 11 states so far and hope to get to a few more next year. I mostly do RW, but occasionally try to freefly. I think it is more like freeflailing, but it's sure fun to try. I'll get the hang of it one of these days. I've tried a bit of CReW and hope to do more next spring. I started doing a bit of camera flying this summer and that's definitelty something I want to continue doing. I think my most memorable jump was a balloon jump where I exited from 2000 feet. The balloon pilot didn't have his instructions right and kept going down and telling us to get out every 500 feet. I figured since a pilot could tell me to get out of the plane at that level in an emergency and since I'd done previous balloon and heli jumps and had no stability issues and since my Pilot has such sweet openings that I'd go for it. I actually had about 5 seconds of freefall before I pulled and had about a minute and a half to pick the field I wanted to land in. It's made me think that next summer, for my 1000th jump, I may just have to go try a BASE jump off the bridge in Twin Falls. I'm having a great time and sure hope I've got another 10 years to go... I've been on an SOS (Skydivers over Sixty) record jump. I'd like to try for one for the over 70 group, too. "safety first... and What the hell..... safety second, Too!!! " ~~jmy POPS #10490
