:4:0 Went waterskiing at skydive the Farm on Sunday. It rained so much Saturday that the ponds oveflowed and the entire field was 2 inches deep in water. I managed to stay pretty dry but saw some pretty spectacular "water" landings. Never thought I'd see water spray up 6 feet in the air when people slid in a landing in a field. I've got a pocket slider mod and it usually opens fine. I've been whacked twice in 125 jumps, but both times it's because I packed quickly and didn't control the slider. I think if the slider is seated well, you should be fine. That being said, when you do get popped, ouch! I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. I think we've all busted bullshitters before. There's some decent older threads that discuss that very topic. Sometimes I let it slide and act all amazed at their exploits, other times I bust their balls in front of everyone. It just depends. I hate it when people don't understand why you would do it more than once a weekend. They say something like "isn't that rush enough to last you?" From what I've seen, some DZ's requie a non-refundable deposit, say $50. If they can't jump due to bad weather and can't reschedule, they get their money back, minus the non-refundable deposit to cover the costs of time/training they recieved, etc. I will be kissing hands and shaking babies all afternoon. All it took for me was someone crushing my fingers in the plane while getting up. That, and raking my hand between the door of an otter and the inside bar. Gloves every time now.
