  1. So I guess you've tried the search option before asking?
  2. ethnography of skydiving?? Yeah right and we are supposed to believe that...the fact that most of the responses you got makes a joke of you tells it all, especially when you choose not to respond and defend yourself. This smells like some advertising company trying to get some info off of people.
  3. I'm spoiled, I live very closeby my DZ, about 8 miles, which takes me aprox 10 minutes.
  4. I'f you know it sounds silly why then ask to begin with cause the things you're asking realy do sound very silly and I'f I knew any better I would consider you a troll. Also why would you want to tell your skydive instructor you wanna go base-jumping, it's not like he can give you good advice on that, no skydiver can for that matter. Except for the canopy part skydiving and base-jumping have very little in common. Btw jumping base gear for skydiving is as I understand it not allowed.
  5. That's pretty much a general habit where I jump, the only ones who don't do it are AFF students.
  6. Strange, it says "record high definition AVCHD video from Sony HDD or Memory Stick® Handycam® camcorders to DVD, playable in Blu-ray Disc™ compatible devices." So I would seem to think it's not only for photos
  7. The pc-1000 is getting old and it's sd. You should look into the sony cx7, I bought one recently, it's hd and uses solid state memory to record on.
  8. I would think that's physically and technically impossible without any means of propulsion.
  9. I agree, lastly I looked at those new deepseed suits, the price their asking is rediculous, even for the base model.
  10. I have flown matter and currently use a tony-suits but I'll probably go back to matter or sonic (both empuria brava based) because of the fabric they us.
  11. In Belgium we jump through clouds, the cloud base needs to be at a minimum altitude of 3000ft, doesn't matter if the sky is closed up or not. I once jumped through a cloud layer around 6000ft thick, very strange experience.
  12. Oh, you mean this hand signal: http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=6496&string=schaffen
  13. Here in Belgium last year whe had a 15 year old girl with around 50 jumps. In Belgium you can jump in the year you turn 16.
  14. markovwgti, any particular reason why you removed your jump numbers from your profile?
  15. I don't understand why some people have difficulty standing up their landings even after 80 jumps. My first stand up landing was jump n° 2 and appart from the occasional exception I stand up my landings on almost all my jumps, perhaps me being a former gymnast makes a difference.
  16. The charges on him were dropped: source: http://gothamist.com/2007/01/18/jumping_off_the.php Remember that zany "daredevil" who tried to jump off the Empire State Building last April, after sneaking in a special outfit with camera under a fatsuit (which was chucked in the men's bathroom at the observation level)? Well, Jeb Corliss got lucky, as a judge dismissed the charges against him, noting that his act was not "depraved" enough! Justice Michael Ambrect found that since Corliss, who has jumped from Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, the Eiffel Tower, and Golden Gate Bridge, is an experienced, uh, daredevil and had considered things like wind patterns and was going to use a parachute, clearly Corliss didn't want to hurt anyone. Ambrecht wrote, "The circumstances surrounding this admittedly dangerous stunt suggest that rather than indifference to the risk of harm to others, [Corliss] took affirmative steps to ensure the safety of others." Hmm, we guess Ambrecht found Corliss's actions analogous to the judge who tried to commit suicide by gassing himself, even though the gassing caused an explosion in his whole building. The police are upset, saying that others might try to jump off buildings with parachutes. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said, "Does the court really want the Empire State and other city landmarks to become magnets for BASE [Bridge, Antenna, Span, Earth] jumpers?" Even legal pundits are shocked. NYU law professor Stephen Gillers told the NY Times, "Well, as a New Yorker, I think I won't walk near the Empire State Building for a while." The Times also has an interesting debate about laws and jumping off buildings - Gillers takes Corliss's lawyer to task for saying that it's "shocking" there's no law to prohibit jumping off buildings. The district attorney's office is considering an appeal or re-prosecution, saying, "We believe that jumping from the Empire State Building remains a reckless act." No word on whether Corliss will try to get his job hosting Discovery's Stunt Junkies back. And here's one of his jumps on iFilm.
  17. Africankid, you should check out the date the OP started the thread, that was 6 months ago.
  18. So you're trying to tell us you're doing hd with only 70 jumps and a sitfly avatar like that while the poster before you with 500+ jumps says he's still trying to perfect it. Forgive me if I chuckle...
  19. Nice, don't forget to update your profile once in a while anthony.
  20. Why is that such a bad idea? I consider it a good idea, the knot in the bridle gets untied anyway and there's no chance of the pc getting uncocked by a bit.
  21. You sound like you wished you had done more jumps.
  22. Did 5 jumps on saturday but had other obligations on sunday, on a normal "decent weather" weekend I usually get about 10 to 13 jumps.
  23. shouldn't matter, people don't seem to care either way. With a reply like that you probably don't have alot of jumps. Filling in your profile can give people a chance to give more appropriate advice fitting your experience.
