I love my Altitrack; it is nice to hear that if it ever has problems they have such great customer service. Both my Alti and my Audible are going strong though, so I am just going to have to take your word for it. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

I didn't like the openings at first, but now that is my favorite part of the canopy. Don't get me wrong I also really really love the way my pilot flies, but I love the extra 600 feet the hornet gives me when compared to the 900+ foot openings of my pilot. I have done a handful of hop and pops without my goggles or full face, but I would rather fly with them. I don't fly a hot rod, a 170 at about 1.2, but after hard dives and turns the built up speed starts to bother my lenses. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

The common points that SL proponents make on here are the SL students: -Learn to pack sooner. -Learn to spot better. -Are more comfortable getting out low in an emergency. -Focus and as a result are more proficient under canopy. Even though I was an AFF student I learned to pack, spot, and do lots of low exits very early. I think the quality of your instructors makes more of a difference then the method. Suprisngly I also ended every AFF jump with a canopy opening, had to focus on canopy manuevers, and land. I do agree with the logic that there are more SL jumps so you have more instructed canopy flights, but at my DZ they didn't ignore you once you were self supervising. From your profile it looks like you are flying the hornet now. I am a little curious about why you are looking for a replacement. The reason why I ask is because if your profile is correct you are starting to get a relatively high loading for some one with 60 jumps. I was just wondering if you were thinking about downsizing from the hornet. I load my hornet 170 at a little less than 1.2. The openings on the older years with smaller sliders are night and day compared to a pilot opening!!! Much much faster, also more likely to whack you. I found my hornet to dive more in all manuevers when compared to the pilot. Overall I am very happy with it, but I think it is approaching the point where it needs a reline. I will feel much better flying it when it is back in trim. It is an awesome canopy, especially for what I paid for it. You can loses glasses too. I lost a pair of over the glasses goggles and a set of persciption lenses $$$ at around 30 jumps when I went to turn and track. Luckily I have ok vision without them. I don't think you are any more likely to lose contacts with a good set of goggles, or a fullface then you are glasses or perscription goggles. Why do you think your contacts are poping out? I guess he is talking about the aerodyne slinks. They use a metal ring instead of a fabric tag like some other slinks. Yes mine are tacked inside the riser to keep them in place. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

No, I'm talking about low reserve pulls, below a survivable altitude. (Hence reference to the fatality report in the thread title.) The main may or may not have been deployed, or may have been cut away at sufficient altitude, but the reserve had been pulled/deployed by the AAD too low to allow full deployment. In SkyMall (yes, I look at those when I am flying), they have a litter box that looks like a plant. I thought it was a novel idea. I LOVE the skymall mag.
