  1. I had something simular when I was on my AFF course. I routed the chest strap through the bottom part of the gater but then routed it over the top gater and not through it!!! So you couldnt see the buckle/gater at all... Totally obvious to look at but I managed to trick 3 eperienced skydivers who were stood there looking at it. If it wasnt for my AFF instructor noticing it I would have jumped it!! Things happen for the best I feel and this is a good example. I'll never ever do that again and i'll also double check everyone elses. Ive heard stories of people tracking out of there rig becuase of this. scary.. Take care people. 2. thanks dude.. You looked bored so I thought id give you something to do.. lol Sorry dude. Thanks for the pack. S Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
  3. Hey all. So after a struggle with missing DRP's on my static line course I made the switch to AFF... And im very happy to announce I passed the course with no retakes!! WooHoo!! Looking forward to a good summer of jumping. Sharky Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
  4. Hey all, Im a static line student in the UK and after all the frustration of sitting around the DZ watching the windsock, missing 2 dummy pulls and any other weather/problem there has been. Ive decided to go for the AFF course which im starting next Monday. I cant wait to do this as ive been watching loads of videos and getting well excited about it. So hopefully by Saturday next week i'll be qaulified!! Cant wait to join you all in the Blue skies!! WooHoo!! Sharky Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
  5. Like I said. Surgery was the best thing I ever did for my Left shoulder. Wish I had it done when I first did it. I could never put my shoulder back in myself as it would roll behind my shoulder blade!!! ouch!! What did it for me was the last time it happend. In Greece 5 hours away from a hospital and 5 greek doctors pulling my arm until it relocated! I couldnt understand a word they were saying to me either.. was a disturbing experience. Good luck if you do have opp dude. You wont regret it im sure of it. Sharky Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
  6. Im only a student but i'll add my experience with Shoulders. I dislocated my shoulder originally ice skating then I did it twice more playing Ice hockey. Then ive dislocated it stretching when I woke up in the morning and finally dislocated it last september whilst diving into a swimming pool!!! So as you can see skydiving is not the best thing to be doing!. So before I started the S/L course I went into hospital and had corrective surgery. Im pleased to say now that all the pain and discomfort of surgery has paid off. I now have 6 jumps under my belt and no shoulder problems at all. I have full range of movement back thanks to my Physio and no pain when im cold like before i had it done. So in my experience. Surgery was deffo the best thing ever for my shoulder and has completely taken away the worry away from it ever dislocating again. Good luck dude Sharky Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
  7. Some good advice here guys. Thanks. Good to see im not the only one thats done this. Dont feel so bad now. lol. Didnt get to jump at the weekend.. High winds and rain!! Good old England!! Regards Sharky Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
  8. Yeah I mean its not in the same place. It all happens very fast and I cant find it. I think I'll try coming in lower this weekend and going for the grab that way. Thanks Sharky Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
  9. Hi all, Can anyone tell me if they went through a stage of missing there Dummy Pull handle's on S/L course. And how they got over it. Ive missed my last two becuase the handle doesnt feel like it does on the ground. silly I know!!! Thanks in advance Sharky Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
  10. I just hate all the windsock watching. The ammount of weeks ive spent at the DZ now just drinking coffee and getting excited when the windsock doesnt move and then goes crazy 5 minutes later! Drives me nuts!!! Gonna try to get it 4 or 5 jumps tomorrow and I have Monday off to try and get some more on so hopefully if I nail the DRP's i'll be on freefall.. Have a good weekend flying guys Sharky Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
  11. Thanks guys. I understand. I like the close supervision. Although they tend to leave me to it now. Last jump I had no radio assistance at all which was nice to know that I was doing things right... Even my Flare!! Cant wait for freefall! Sharky Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
  12. Hello all. Its getting hard to come up with a question that hasnt been answered on here but I guess I want something confirmed that some experienced guys have told me. Im on my 4th S/L jump and doing DRP's. Everyone at my club tells me that doing S/L over AFF will make me a "better" skydiver in the end. But I cant really understand why. Is it because S/L students get used to exiting low? How will S/L make me a better skydiver? P.S this is not meant to be another S/L or AFF rant!! lol Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
  13. Hi skydivers of the world. Im a 28 year old noob in the UK on the static line course. Ive done 4 jumps and now im cleared to move onto DRP's. cant wait to start freefall. I get goosebumps just watching videos of freefall and can only imagine what its like to fly!! I am absolutely loving just jumping from 3500 with no freefall and flying my canopy is an awesome feeling. Im in awe of the Cat 8 guys and i cant wait to join you all.
