I find mine to be useful, but I often jump without it (and deliberately turn it off at times so I don't get dependent). Maybe my eyes suck, I know when it is time to pull without any gadgets but I don't think I could see the difference between reaching for that extra point at 5500, or break off at 4500. Either way I am glad a didn't start using one at 20 jumps!!! It is way easy to get used to just waiting for the beeps which is a dangerous habit. Not yet, but I had a landing or two when I first starting jumping that should have hurt me. Downwinder, panic stab, going back up, damn this is going to hurt, SLAM TUMBLE TUMBLE TUMBLE. And the other day I caught a real bad down draft from a rotor and dropped from about 20 feet, my ankle was sore but it would have been way way worse if the ground wasn't so soft! I just graduated school so I have been on my parents plan until now because it was cheaper and easier for me so some of the terminology is lost on me. Do most health insurance plans cover acidents that occur doing "high risk" activities like skydiving? I am sure each plan is different but I wondered if there was an industry trend. I was just thinking back to a conversation I had with some one from the DZ. The person had as much medical industry experince as I have, nada, but they thought that almost every medical insurance company out there is going to deny the claim if you screw up jumping?
