  1. It doesn't work like that... But I can make you an adapter... If you're interested please send me a PM. -Laszlo-
  2. Canon. Back then when I started digital photography Canon was a significantly better option. Canon used CMOS sensors already vs. Nikon’s CCD, Canon had ISO 100 vs. Nikon’s ISO200, and of course the remote shutter issue as well. Now days Nikon just as good, but not better, plus I have the line of Canon lenses and other accessories already. -Laszlo-
  3. Congratulations for your A license! ...but this thread is for YOUR best shot (photo you took) not your best shot you're in.
  4. "With only four that came in" ??? Spot, sent 3 ground shots. Did you receive them?
  5. "So what setting do you shoot your stills at ?" What gear are you using when you drive a car? ...all of them. It would be pretty hard to start moving forward after a STOP sign in 5th gear (most likely burning the clutch). Or it would be pretty silly to drive in 1st gear on the interstate. Same with photography you change your settings accordingly with the light, the intention, and nature of the subject.
  6. Whatever the broadcasters/TV stations paying for... Seriously, my experince is they really not set up for AVCHD (yet). I would convert the video into HDV (MPEG2) and put it onto a disc as a data file.
  7. How about for a big-way for a billboard ad? That would be a cool assigment to use a large still camera like that. I would also use "big equipment" for a photo exhibit if the prints were made of a "real life" size. ...as I said it's only a matter of budget for me. Something to work on in the future...
  8. Wow! Good for him. That's an expensive "toy" just to own it. I'm sure he can untilize it... Hopefully I will be able to do that too soonner or later.
  9. I really want to shoot some photos in freefall with this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/671884-REG/Hasselblad_70480542_H4D_50_Digital_SLR_Camera.html (I know its only medium format) ...and I have some aristic ideas too (I'm seriuos not trying to be sarcastic!) I just need the budget. I'm sure I can rent this camera, but I would still need a decent "fund" to make my ideas to happen.
  10. Ron, As far as I understand from another ongoing thread you’re true Christian believer. So can you please explain how Jesus wants to win a war??? Isn’t problem solving suppose to happen through “diplomacy”? How Jesus wants to interrogate people (even if they’re very evil) using fear (according with you water boarding is nothing else but fear) to get information out of people to win a fight? Where is the love of God, forgiveness, and the other tenderness taught by the Holy Bible???
  11. Will they also teach the Koran, Torah rolls, Kelevala, and etc. equally from literary aspect? If not then it’s bullshit. Why only the Bible and nothing else will be taught as part of literature??? Will KY public school’s literature classes ignore other than Christian citizen’s belief?
  12. Very nice post! I’m not saying it because “I’m on your side” but because it’s based on pure data from other countries around the world. So there’s lot of cross reference to make compression. The whole point is religious people always go back to the “my faith” point of view, They ignore or deny important information as soon as it questions their established belief "Because it can't be true". I never experienced a religious person seriously examing or considering information from other cultures as soon as it doesn’t fit into their dogma. Religion makes judgment looking at only one side of the coin. But a simple coin has two sides, and it also has an edge what nobody ever mentions… Reality has many dimensions. …maybe I’m getting to metaphoric here.
  13. This Panasonic FP8 has a 28mm wide view if you use a 35mm film camera as a reference. It's wider than a XTi with the 18-55mm lens. Lot of camera people prefers wider view but the 28mm is still good enough. ...it's a 4oz ONLY neck saver for 10 tandem videos a day type of work
  14. I’m getting back to the original topic here… “Freedom of religion means freedom from religion”. Why is that so important to keep religion out of politics? And why is important to keep religion out of public schools as well? Because they can be very dangerous for a free society (relatively free) like the American one. Here I have to tell a little about my personal experience which happened a few years back here in FL. It was the “big time” for the Intelligent Design people. They tried to sell their idea every where including FL (easy target very Bible belt). So they came to the near town Dade city and gave a week long “scientific” seminar about ID. This is nothing else but creationism falsely wrapped in science. Skydive City’s manager TK and I went to attend the first seminar and ask very tough questions. (I also video taped the whole thing…) The man who spoke Donald (I forgot his last name but I can dig it up…) claimed to be a PhD of paleontology, and he claimed to obtain his degree in an Australian university which of course doesn’t exist. (we checked on it of course) He started his speech of this seminar “it has nothing to do with religion, it only tries to give an alternative option to those who don’t believe in evolution”. The next statement was this 5 evening event is sponsored by “the Church of Jesus Christ” (nothing to do with religion… right???). The story starts getting scary here. The whole evening (for about 2-2.5 hours) he was displaying dinosaur’s fossils, DNA, bacteria, and etc. on the projector and explaining how things were created more than evolved. Beside that for more scientific details (and this is the fucked up part of this long story) he referred to this web site: http://bible.ca/ …Bible.ca as a scientific reference? A bit scary. The link for the actual ID theory (which by itself is nonsense) on the referred site: http://www.bible.ca/tracks/ The real FUCKED UP part of it is coming now. I checked the rest of Bible.ca and found very BAD things on it. For example stating such a thing if you are a Muslim you can’t be a patriot and a loyal citizen of the U.S.!!! Here’s the link, because it’s still on the web: http://www.bible.ca/islam/islam-kills-oxymoron.htm Also this site a pro war site which politically endorses the Iraq invasion (what country Jesus would bomb?) I thought Christianity is all about peace (that’s what they say right???) …sorry I couldn’t find that exact page now (as I type this post). But here’s another stupid link about homosexuality: http://www.bible.ca/s-Homo-Genetic.htm Homosexuality isn’t a lifestyle and isn’t a choice either!!! It exists among animals too. I’m a straight man though… The really scary and fucked up part of all this is these people almost managed to have ID theory to be taught in the FL public school system! The state Supreme Court voted 3-2 against it! ONLY one vote and FL would teach Christian creationism in its public schools!!! At the mean time these ID people also make very sharp statements against non Christians (like Muslims shouldn’t be good US citizens!!!) and giving total nonsense misleading picture just about all aspect of the world. Just check out the rest of Bible.ca! THAT’S WHY RELIGIOUS FREEKS SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM POLITICS, PUBLIC EDUCATION, AND LEGISLATION!!! THEY ARE VERY DANGEROUS!!! …in addition another example. Sara Palin said something like that “Obama should listening to God” (not the exact words, but the exact meaning) when he makes a political decision. She made this statement recently in TN during the “Tee Party Meeting”. I know this from NPR news (…I know I should listening something more reliable like FOX) Which God the U.S. president should listen to? Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, or some pagan? Palin’s Evangelical views imposed in her political views can be very dangerous for the rest of the non Evangelical part of the world. She should stay away from politics too, but at least she SHOULDN’T push her own any religious agenda while ignoring others!
  15. Can a pagan Goddess be a truth equally as much as God (the Christian version)??? Please a simple YES/NO answer.
  16. So when you get sick why do you go to the doctor and try to extend your life with human invetions? Why religios people don't accept their illness as God's will and let themselves die? They have eternal life waiting for them anyway right? Are you serious??? What is the solid evidence for eternal life if you accept Jesus? The Egyptians thought the mummification is the way, the Muslims think if you accept Allah (same God as yours though…) and follow the teachings of Mohamed. The Bible is NOT evidence! The Bible is written by humans. Its current content was manipulated by political interest and a lot lost in transition. Furthermore most of the Biblical events were misunderstood the described “Godly Miracles” are nothing else but the lack real understanding of nature and science. But you can also google the “Cargo Gods” when a tribe in the Pacific started to worship for “Cargo”. U.S. troops stationed on their island during WWII and received supplies from the sky (parachute drops). War ended, troops left, indigenous people wanted more beneficial cargo. So they built mock radios with bamboo antennas to simulate the same circumstances before a cargo plane showed up over head delivering goodies. They had some lack of true understanding too… You can test out “the lack of understanding” on your own DZ when spectators making statements about skydiving without knowing or understanding anything about it. People debate stupid things whether the camera guy fell away or they “went back up” when the parachute opened. …and those people experienced a skydive at least once already but they have no clue what so ever anyway. Is there any other evidence than the Bible for eternal life if someone accepts Jesus? Can it be really checked and confirmed from multiple angles? Is there any feed-back? I tell you now science is actually lot closer to eternal life (more like a very long life) than any religious idea. Our Solar system isn’t eternal neither the Universe. Of course religion is against everything which can challenge its authority. A few centuries ago autopsy was a crime punished by death (burning of course). Now stem cell and other genetic researches are the big “NO-NOs”. The out coming results of these can make simple humans a powerful “Creator just like “God” Back to the very beginning of this thread…. If we don’t separate politics from religion can we include every existing belief system in our legislation system? How a new bill would be fair if that would only satisfy Christians and Jews but not the Devil worshippers? The “In God We Trust” on the Dollar bills is quiet insulting and discriminating for Atheist (since they don’t),Native Americans (they were here first, they’re pagans, most of them killed by Christians), and for other countless non “single god” believer citizens. Did theocracy (when it was really a law) really work in Europe in the past? Does theocracy work in the Middle-East countries? People WAKE UP! Keep your non-sense believes at home or in your church! Do NOT to try to impose them on others and definitely DO NOT to try control politics and science with religion!
  17. I had some long discussions on this forum previously. I just like to make a very simple statement why we shouldn’t mix religion with politics. LOST TIME WE MIXED POLITICS WITH RELIGION PEOPLE GOT BURNED AT THE STAKE!!! If anyone says that never happened in “name of God” that’s an ignorant lie.
  18. …just an interesting “reminder”. I know it’s only a Hollywood movie called “The Day After Tomorrow” which was released in 2004. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_After_Tomorrow But isn’t that interesting how that movie described what could happen if the average temperature of the globe raises? It predicted a major freeze over. As I said it’s only a Hollywood movie, but it was based on some realistic scientific data. The consequences are maybe not a catastrophic as they are in the stupid movie but we definitely had a “taste” of the global climate change. NO, G.W. Bush did not cause it! Neither Al Gore invented it! We’re all part of it. Remember, in the last 100 years we burned millions of years worth of fossil fuel deposits and sent it back to the air as C02. It doesn’t require too much brain power to do the math how that last 100 years made some change in the CO2 level in the Earth’s atmosphere. G.W. just tried to ignore it as much as it was possible, which was totally understandable if you were in the oil business. We have seen extreme weather every year in every corner of the planet. The problem is it will become more and more extreme more and more frequently. Please remind me whether I was right or wrong about two years from now. Thank you!
  19. "turning us more towards socialism." I don't think the Obama administration is heading towards socialism at all. Just because he has social programs doesn't mean he's going to create a socialist regime. This administration just trying to catch up with time.... like providing affordable healthcare. I don't think any of the Western European countries or Canada can be called socialist. Providing healh care to every US citizen isn't a bad thing. ...not even if it cost some money (and still lot cheaper than Bush's wars!!!). If you think about it education (free all tha way through high school) on tax payers money is a very expensive socialist program as well. Should we stop that too? Trust me I know what socialist/communist regime is. I grew up on the eastern side of the wall...
  20. "that a little humble man, 2000 yrs ago, made such an uproar in the established world " In this case the winner is Buddha. He has just as many followers as Jesus except for 400-600years longer! Mohamed is the 3rd because he's around for a bit over 1,300 years only. The 4th is Judaism. It's around the longer than the othe mentioned 3 but they don't have the amount of people. What made you to turn into an Evangelical Christian? How come you’re NOT Catholic, Greek Orthodox, or Gnostic Christian? Did you ever study the Koran or all the Buddhist text written on Sanskrit as much as you did the Bible (and most likely the King James Version only)? Everybody should study all existing religious text equally before they start preaching about the “truth”. How a rabbi can be sure about the truth of the Torahs without ever reading the theories of Confucius? How an Evangelical pastor can be 100% sure about his teaching when he only reads the King James Version of the Bible but never a page from the Koran? Why Iranians are Shiite Muslims and not Sunnis like the Saudis? The answer is very simple: Everybody pretty much “born into” the society with an existing religion. They learn it from their surroundings. The other option is when an existing religion gets reformed by a new leader who’s charismatic enough to effect on large masses. For example: Jesus reformed Judaism (he still talked about the same God and the Old Testament is still about Jewish history). Martin Luther reformed Christianity because he didn’t agree with the Catholic Church just like many others, so a new branch of the religion was born. But ultimately all “believers” are getting the basics from the environment they were born into. Jesus was a Jew until he wasn’t satisfied with Judaism (which was very corrupted by his time), Martin Luther was a Catholic until he bumped into some issues. But the reformers new ideas still grew from the old one. The whole point of mine is no religious person ever believes in a certain faith because they are voluntarily select one from the many existing after studying them all. They become “true believers” because mostly everybody else is in their society. And even the few who start a new direction in faith roots back to the original what the person first was introduced. Humans just like animals. We’re learning from our parents and others who surrounding us (which is most of the time right). Of course we’re capable to learn and understand lot more complex things than any other creature on Earth. Except we inherited some limitations through the evolutionary process; we tend to accept information just because it was said so. We’re going to accept anything from anyone who we trust. We don’t have the skepticism (the healthy amount) right away, we have to learn it! Not everybody starts “cross referencing”. I should be a good Catholic because I was born into a Catholic family. But my father gave me an option (which raised some eye bras), he let me decide what faith I pick when I grew up. So I’ve never been baptized because in my early adult age I had my “doubts” already because I was “exposed” to other ideas than Catholicism. But most people don’t have this type of “free choice”, they have to go with the tradition they were born into, and buy the time when they’re old enough to make choices their own they don’t know anything else but what they’ve been told. A Muslim kid will never study the Bible, and vice versa a Christian kid won’t study the Koran. But as they grew they will be more and more solid on their faith. Of course there’s in conversion of faith too. Most of those are happening because of financial, political, social, or some other interest forcing it. Those conversions also often form a new regional version of the original religion. For example Latin America is dominantly Catholic (because of the Spanish and Portuguese). But people still mix in some Pagan elements from the far past, so they practice Voodoo, Santeria, and etc. (mostly African origin Paganism because of the slaves...) Lenin (Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov) made just as big inpact on the world when he created the Soviet Union. That empire is gone (luckily) but there's still many to beleive in his ideas. This it for now....
  21. "Science has proven there is an eternal structure to the universe" Science has discovered a lot about the 3D space and time what we can currently observe with our current technology. But there’s a whole lot more to explain. We’re also limited a bit because we’re built to sense space only in 3D and as humans we're only detect time as a process flowing in one direction with a constant speed (linear). At the mean time we know already things are a bit different. So it makes more difficult to comprehend what we call “Universe”. The problem is latest discoveries are showing there are multiple Universes “Multiverses”. There are other structures like ours. (the structure we know so far after “our Big Bang”) Bible, Koran, and Torahs talking about “Universe” and one creator “God” But now most likely we talking about uncountable amount of Universes, so that would mean uncountable amount of Gods too. …big challenge for most existing religions. The “proof-disproof” of God between Atheists and believers is a never ending debate. One thing is sure though; most religious texts (not only Judo-Christian) talk about creation by God. They also give a detailed description how the creation happened (I want to emphasize I'm not only talking about the Christian version). But science over and over and over again gave a totally different explanation about our existence. Therefore religion was proven wrong ALL the time. So logically science proved that all the time religious ideas (like God) to explain the mechanics of what we call Universe is incorrect. But no religion could ever disprove science. Did Jesus die for the sins of aliens too? Non human intelligent beings (maybe not even carbon based creatures) millions of light years away should consider one of our Earthly God or religion? If one day our technology will allow us to visit them should we go there with a cross or the Holy Koran?
  22. Atheism is anti-religion which of course includes Christianity as well. The real difference between Atheism and any other religion is not accepting things based on “BELIEF”. Atheists accept provable facts. They not against religion because they are evil or bad, but rather because they just don’t want to accept “beliefs” without any evidence. The problem with religion is (any religion) it accepts beliefs as solid fact. Just a few for example: -The inquisition used to prosecute and execute scientist (mostly burn them at the stake) because they came up with the evidence the Earth isn’t flat and it’s not even in the center of the Universe. The church was holding onto their BELIEF (which of course had no realistic base at all) so strongly they were killing anyone who tried to challenge it. -Protestant Christians (even today they all read the exact same King James Bible) believed in witches. So based on their beliefs they burned a bunch of innocent people in NH,MA, and more places. -911 hijackers had a nothing else but their faith (belief if you will) to make them carry out their terrible attack. They didn’t make their decision based on rational thinking or facts. They acted based on beliefs which was “implanted” into their head by their leader. -Japanese kamikaze pilots had their beliefs too…. -Charles Darwin was condemned when he came up with the idea humans and prime apes evolved from a common ancestor. The Bible (which is based on faith and not facts) was saying otherwise. Now we know Darwin was right (Chimps and humans share 98% same DNA) -If you ask a person on the street about skydiving they believe the odds tend towards to get killed rather than survive. They say it because of their belief based on bad information or lack of information. We both have to agree on that those “street people” (wuffos if you will ) belief is wrong. They just believe skydiving is way too crazy but they have no clue what so ever abut the sport. Try to get insurance for skydiving here in the US. The insurance agencies will deny writing up a decent policy based on belief not the true data about skydiving. And the list never ends how much humanity (the smaller group of them with the doubt in faith) had to fight against nonsense beliefs in order to have accepted. Unfortunately this problem hasn’t gone away until this day. People with common sense and real facts have to go against those who have nothing else but beliefs without ant solid evidence. Frankly, it really scares me when elected politicians try to legislating law based on beliefs and their personal religious views. Atheists don’t “believe” like members of any other religion. Atheist accept facts, they make conclusion after checking out a certain problem from all possible angles.
  23. "Just curious, what is it you are not allowed to do because of the "christian right wing"? " For example please look up the news archrivals relating to the 2008 presidential race. All candidates were questioned about their faith by religious leaders (Christians of course). Or another example; Rick Warren’s (CA mega church leader) Invocation at Obama’s inaugural ceremony. Why those things had to happen??? Politicians shouldn’t need to be endorsed by religious views by religious leaders!!!
  24. "It is unusual for females to be involved in child trafficking." Please don’t take this personally, but it was a very naive statement. Females can be just as bad as males. In this particular case (child trafficking) there’s lot of female involvement in Eastern Europe for sure.
  25. "It's that spending you so decry that's given our troops the weapons, comms and other gear that makes them so effective" ???? I don’t know about effectiveness… Osama still has not been captured; Al Qaeda and Taliban are still very strong. Who or what gives them the budget to stand against the US/NATO for more than 9 years effectively??? The US spent more money than never before in the last 9 years on 2 wars. On wars they really achieved nothing so far!!! Unfortunately these are facts. I never heard from history that any country through out the centuries went bankrupt because of their spending on “non-war related” projects. But many empires and countries went bankrupt or totally fell apart because of their military (defense if you will) spending. If all those spending were effective the wars should have ended a long time ago! …they shouldn’t have really started at the first place. Ultimately someone (more like some ones) collects all that money we spend on wars. So that means those who collected the military spending of the US ($3 Trillion in the last 9 yrs) got very rich. That is effectiveness for those few for sure!!!
