  1. Man, that second shot is awesome!
  2. I made the attached picture many years ago... Now we have newer models but the "10 pin" plug is still the same for the pro line Nikons. Ever since there's a 3rd kind of plug which first introduced with the D90. Nikon continued with those plugs on their "prosumer" cameras (like D7000 these days).
  3. Actually there's a "plug n' play" switch for Nikon. ...I make them Please send me a PM if anyone is interesred. I still recommend Canon though
  4. Thanks for the info Brian! I know about the FS700, it looks incredible. The FS100 is defenitely "jumpable" easily. The Sony PMW100 is very promising too. I haven't heard about the 4K Canon though... ...we might have to move this discussion the camera forum before the moderators kick our ass
  5. The stills are triggered by a switch. Hypeye supposed to have the remote capapbility (has the port anyway...) to take stills. Say it simple you can plug a 2.5mm switch (like Pro Mouth Switch) into a Hypeye and the camcorder should take a still when you press the switch.
  6. I just coming from B&H photo in NYC where I played with the new CX-190, CX-200, and CX-210. The cheapest is the CX-190 for $300. This model has no touch screen just a small joystick on the upper left of the screen to navigate the menu. No internal memory either. The CX-200 for additional $40 has the touch screen. The CX-210 for $380 has 8GB of internal memory as an addition. No thread for wide angle lens, but I guess a step up ring can be glued on (it's a crude solution, but would work...). No optical image stabilization which is important for us skydivers. Big advantage is the card slot is back on the side (the opposite side of the CX-100 though). They use SD cards instead of Sony memory stick (SD cards are cheaper and these cameras have no problems with the no brand cards either....). The other very cool thing is the CX-200 (I tested this only on this model, but basically all cameras are the same) was able to take 18 5mp still shots in a 50 second high quality HD recording time without interupting the video. This feature still needs to be tetsed in free fall... but I can see the potential to use it for both video and stills for tandems at the same time. I'll upload some stills to (I'm at a bar right now...
  7. " The CX series cameras can be controlled via the half-moon port with the Hypeyes (not the Cameye)" Actually you CAN control the CX camcorders with CamEye-IIs. All you need is an adapter. Many people are using those adpters for thousands and thousands of jumps
  8. Thank you Spot! It looks very promising for skydiving without a doubt. The 1080/60p would have made it even better though... This one here will exceed RED I guess: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/853273-REG/Sony_NEX_FS700_NEX_FS700U_Super_35_Camcorder.html
  9. You can use your CamEye-II with any of the CX camcorders. All you need is an adapter. Please PM to me if you're interested.
  10. At the mean time I had a conversation about high-end cameras with someone who owns a high-end production company in New York city. He sent me these links of a well budgeted project comparing cameras. Very valuable stuff to watch: http://www.zacuto.com/the-great-camera-shootout-2011/episode-one http://www.zacuto.com/the-great-camera-shootout-2011/episode-two
  11. ...I was wondering about that too. Crazy set up for sure. Don't try this at home! :):):)
  12. Very nice commercial! Would it be difficult to jump with the Red Epic? It's smaller and lighter than the Red One right?
  13. I wish if NAB was here in New York again... I don't think I gonna fly to Vegas in April
  14. In addition to "linestertch's" comment the JPEG files you uploaded are highly compressed. Are these the original files? Some seems to me cropped though... For example the DSC_7913 image has the resolution of 4928x3264pixels. At this resolution even if the image has mostly white clouds and blue skies the file size should be at least 1.5-2MB. The attached file is only 270KB... When you talked about noise you meant those lines and non-gradual change of the color tones in the image? For two of the images exif data says f16 and f18... If light has to go through a "such a small hole" of a not the highest quality of lens and projected to a 16MP sensor it definitely look bad. Basically at f16 or f18 (but even f13) a lens can't pass high enough resolution (sharp if you will) image, but exposes the sensor. The result is a 16MP file carrying maybe 4MP of information/detail On the sunny day using TV at 1/640s with AF I would use ISO100 or even ISO50 if that's available
  15. can you please attach one or two of those noisy pictures (a small 400x600)? and make sure the files contain the exif data as well
  16. Bryan, Thank you for all the valuable info from the production world again! I'm sure there will be a few more CReW camps to jump together... At the mean time here's a promising camera from JVC, I hope Sony will come out with something similar soon: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/839193-REG/JVC_GY_HMQ10U_GY_HMQ10_4K_Compact_Handheld.html
  17. Thank you for sharing the links Bryan! Great shots and stuff! It was great to meet you and talk to you. You definitely know what you're doing, and I much appreciate all the info you gave me about camera equipment and other knowledge of yours. Hopefully Parachutist/USPA will publish the image as you filming a large CReW formation. -Laszlo-
  18. "How do you (or others) mount cameras for CReW?" Most of the time I mount my camera vertically because that's is the orientation of CReW most likely. But this time I used horizontal, so I can have some landscape shots of CReW as well.
  19. Thank you! Canon 5D Mark-II Canon 50mm f1.2 L lens. I was playing with the Av setting. At f4 f5 worked everything fine. At f1.2 (I had use 3step ND filter for that...) I couldn't get sharp images, but that requires lot more practice... And of course RAW files
  20. Hi everyone, Despite the crappy weather we still had a chance to make a few jumps at Sebastian during the camp held by Clean Air. Here's the link to my photos: http://laszloimage.com/2012/March_2012/index.htm Bryan Scott also took a bunch of shots as well, hopefully he will post them soon too. -Laszlo-
  21. Here's a few shot from Sebastian, FL. The shot were taken during the CReW camp held by U.S champion team Clean Air. http://laszloimage.com/2012/March_2012/pages/March_09_12%20028.htm http://laszloimage.com/2012/March_2012/pages/March_10_12%20059.htm http://laszloimage.com/2012/March_2012/pages/March_10_12%20035.htm http://laszloimage.com/2012/March_2012/pages/March_10_12%20052.htm http://laszloimage.com/2012/March_2012/pages/March_10_12%20094.htm http://laszloimage.com/2012/March_2012/pages/March_10_12%20281.htm I wish if we had a better weather though...
  22. Thanks about the compliment! I'm in Sebastian, FL right now and hopefully the weather will allow to happen the big-way CReW camp I came to photograph. I will experiment to take shots at f1.2 with my new 50mm lens. Most skydiving/parachuting shots are wide angle with everything in focus. I hope the 50mm "human eye" view with the slightly blurred back ground will look good. (I've been shooting CReW at 50mm most of the time anyway but no f1.2...) I also hope the AF will be fast and accurate.
