  1. Have you ever been in a gunfight before? How the fuck do you know how many shots are necessary? If I'm a situation I deem life or death, you can bet I'll empty the magazine. Of course in CA, that means only 10. Odds are the cops had never been in one either. And most are inferior shots to a good number of the gun toters here on SC. Problem here is that the term "gunfight", usually denotes two or more people, shooting at each other. As I understand it, only the cops were armed so that isn't a gunfight....that's a turkey-shoot. Sorry....but if I couldn't hit the guy (in this case...a close, stationary target) in 10 shots, I'd walk up to 'im and beat 'im to death with the gun. "T'was ever thus."
  2. Unless there were 50 cops, there was no reason for there to be 50 shots fired...especially at close range and in an urban area. Clearly, none of those cops were competent. "T'was ever thus."
  3. It does seem to be a bit of a novelty, when I get to jump with the same load that I was originally manifested on. "T'was ever thus."
  4. For me, it'd have to be "Freebird". It's pretty much the anthem of my youth....lots of memories, associated with that one. The song isn't so sad...it just reminds me of better times, better music and a better country. "T'was ever thus."
  5. Even from a high-priced shop, you should be able to get an engine swap done for $500-$700 labor, tops. As for the engine, I urge caution....even something like a Jasper or Crate, can be crap. Myself, I won't get involved with junkyard parts 'coz usually...they are, what they are. Unless you know the engine's true history, you're taking an awful chance. It's often difficult to tell if an engine has been overheated, at any point during its lifetime and if it ever was, it isn't worth rebuilding. An overheated block can be weak and Jeep engines have a long history of cracked heads and blocks, anyway. I see a lot of problems with rebuilt engines. When you buy a re-man, you give them your old engine as a "core", that they rebuild and sell to someone else. The quality of the finished product, is only as good as the core. I've seen these things shatter, in a matter of hours because the core blocks were stressed. "T'was ever thus."
  6. Man, talk about timing! I was just marveling at a piece of 26 year-old technology, my pride & joy...my 1983 Honda CR480R.
  7. That's 'coz we're too busy being bitter....you know, clinging to our guns & religion. "T'was ever thus."
  8. There's some truth in the old saying, "absence makes the heart grow fonder". I've been where you are, for the last eight years. I've found that an occasional (or frequent

  19. I pretty much have to agree with that. I applaude his Habitat For Humanity work but honestly, he really never appeared to be firin' on all cylinders. All we need, is for him, Jackson, Gore or any one of the other "space cadets", to create some kinda' international incident. "T'was ever thus."
  20. I'm hangin' out with Fender, RIC, Dean, Les (Paul), & Marshall but later on, I'll probably be helpin' the neighbors move.
  21. Being used by law enforcement, you can bet they never even considered other airtraffic, as being a possibility....let alone, a potential issue. "T'was ever thus."
  22. I suppose #3 could be James Madison, which could mean these are all war-time Presidents...only connection I can come up with. Unfortunately, I can't find a good profile pic of Madison but the pronounced chin, looks a bit more like Madison, than Jefferson. "T'was ever thus."
  23. Lucky dog....now you can go for, like...2 weeks, without having to do a recurrency post! "T'was ever thus."
