It was a sad day as we lost friends, but the comment that not all of us were surprised by the crash is quite accurate. It was the first Caravan to be used solely for jumping, and jumpers as well as Cowboy were still trying to figure the plane out. It was at East Troy just a bit before the crash and we had and emergency shutdown when the windshield became covered with oil. The reason, the oil filler cap was not replaced and the aircraft suffered massive oil loss during takeoff and climb out, that was exciting. Still it was a sad day to lose our friends... I remember when Ron first started coming to the DZ in Sandwich. He learned to skydive with us and then threw his old life out the door. He became a "Bag" and never seemed to run out of energy. So much of that old crew is gone now so I know he'll have plenty friends to party with again... I've been meaning to fined the time to go visit him but as we all know life just seems to get inthe way sometimes I gotta quit letting that happen... Not a rant Jeanne, but true concern over real people with real jobs and real families, people that I know who are suffering now, and from my perspective more because of morons who think they know how to run a country but only manage to hurt the people that they are supposed to be serving... There are a lot of good CEO's out there that try hard to run good businesses, many more of them than the fools that are in the congress... Just so YOU understand, my company does way more teleconferencing than business travel, and not all business can be conducted by teleconference, but you would have no way of knowing or understanding that because it does not fit the small minded way that you want to look at things. Yes, THAT was a PA and I really don't care what the result is. And when enough of our employees are out of work see how easy it will be to keep your jump aircraft flying, maybe we should all start skydiving by teleconference then... I work for Textron and Cessna makes up a big part of our revenue stream. I'm glad as hell that their fighting back. And yes orders were pushed out "after" the congressional attack. One of the few industries that still is mostly "made in America" and for publicity the Dems trounced on "us" with their criticisms. Most corporate aircraft are not used for extravagant excess but for efficient conduct of business. Do you think the aircraft that we use are for extravagant excess? I'll bet more people would think so than not, anyway just check the news wires to see what the impact has been on Cessna, Beechcraft, and other aircraft manufactures lately. I love the way this thread has gone. If it were you or I who had not reported or paid then the IRS would be all over us , but not Congresspersons or Senators. And the fact that they "paid up" isn't the issue. The issue is that they would not have if it were not for the fact that they were being vetted for a cabinet position and the IRS would never have come after them. Hell, Guiethner (sp) was already past the statute of limitations on the IRS being able to go after him. Get a grip folks, THEY are different than you and I, but if you still want to support them that is your right, but I don't think it says a lot about some of you either. Masked packs of vigilantes will probably never give you a good outcome. Neighborhood watch and patrol programs exits in many towns and cities with the full support of local law enforcement, and they are not considered vigilantes. I can guaranty you however that if some pervert ever abused my daughter they had better hope the law finds them before I do, because I would definitely go vigilante... Illinois poliics is the worst in our nation. It does not matter if they are Dems or Repubs they all are corrupt here. This state is the poster child for the need for third party politics but I would not expect them to fair much better in the long run.
