  1. At that time there was a club in Rochester NH which jumped at a nearby airport in Sanford Maine. I jumped there with a bunch of guys whose names escape me now. The club president was a guy by the name of Charlie Dame. He was a cop in Rochester NH and at the time was probably in his mid 40's. He was also an Area Safety Officer for the PCA (Parachute Club of America).
  2. Marines always wait for a buddy. Thats just the way it is.
  3. Rush is an asshole. Too bad because he's really a smart guy. I don't need someone to tell me how to think.
  4. I have towed my 36' 5th wheel across country 5-6 times, once with the truck you have now except auto trans. Your truck should handle the load well. If you don't have 4 wheel drive get off the road when it is slippery. Make sure you know how to adjust the trailer brakes. If you don't know how, just stop at an RV store and they can show you. It doesn't take long but it's very important. A 5th wheel is the most stable way to haul a trailer, you don't get much sway or fishtailing, even when being passed by an 18 wheeler. Good luck and enjoy.
  5. Guess what? He doesn't deal drugs any more.
  6. Screw him, at least he won't be a recidivist sucking money out of society while he sits in prison.
  7. I recall a flyby done by an unmetntioned F-14 pilot many years ago. As he hit the spectator area he pulled back on the stick & hit afterburner. When the boom sounded and the flames spewed out there were spectators, trash cans and small dogs everywhere. He then did victory rolls until he was out of sight. The airport manager came out of his hut wondering what exploded. Now THATS A FLYBY.
  8. Hey know where Tim McGrath is now? I jumped with him the early 60's while in the USMC. Lost track of him when he got out and moved back to Narbeth. He is also known as "Henry Hawk".
  9. He's the guy thats always got gum on him.
  10. You can come & look at mine. It's sewn on my jumpsuit.

    Dingleberries

Weelnot = dingleberry that weel not come undone.
  12. Bill I don't know you but sure would have liked to in the old days. Your stories cracked me up and reminded me of many of my own. One of the favorite things we did back in the early 60's was hide in the bushes beside the dirt road leading from our drop zone and as a friend drove by we would lob a military smoke grenade in his open front window. It's amazing the odd things a guy will put his car through with a smoke bomb breathing fire and smoke on the front seat.
  13. I,ve got a complete system - harness, B-12 container, canopy (28'round hi po with a 7 T/U mod), and sleeve which I modified myself in the early 60,s It,s not for sale, but you could jump it if you can find a reserve.
  14. No sliders in those days, just sleeves, which was something like a long D bag pulled over the entire canopy. I know, I was there and I also watched Ripcord as and adult, if you can call a 19 year old Marine an adult. Met Bob Sinclair at Cooledge a couple of years ago. Found him to be an interesting guy worthy of spending a couple hours with, just talking. I was doing a two way and Bob asked if he could join to make it a three way. He had no jump suit and as we left MM's King Air I expected that was the last I would see of him, but he was there turning points with us. Anybody know Bob's exit count?
  15. Tent City is mostly there for economic reasons. Sheriff Joe Aprio who is a retired DEA Agent and a hard ass and is continually re-elected by the votors, can't get $ for a new jail, hence, the tents. To his critics he says that if our troops in Bush's recent war can live in them in extreme heat, it's ok for the scumbags and other criminals who populate his city. They do have tv but the channels are only Disney, cooking shows and the like. They also have job training, picking up trash on the highways around Phoenix and they volunteer for it. Gives them good background to apply for highway crew jobs when they get out. They also get two squares a day, one of which is out of date green balogna. Sounds like a plan to me.
  16. Quote Was the H34 that big chopper with an engine on each side? If so I made a bunch of jumps from it in the early 60's while in the Marines. If I remember correctly they held quite a few jumpers but couldn't go too high. We used to throw our extra rigs on it & gear up on the way to altitude.
  17. If you want it, go for it I made 297 jumps from 61 - 63 while in the USMC (all sport jumps), on 28' surplus military rounds that we modified ourselves. I got out of the sport for 26 years before coming back in 92. Now have 2700 and still going strong. I can tell you that the first few the second time around were scarier than when I was 19, as I now was smarter than the parachute, but I got over it. If you want to start again find a good DZ nearby, talk to the DZO or the S&TA, and explain your situation. If you call USPA you could get a recommendation and possibly a contact person at the DZ. You could do a tandem or an AFF, depending on how you feel. I opted for the AFF & didn't regret it. Many Long Leaps & Light Landings
