  1. A Z-P round canopy, similar to the MC-1 series of canopies.
  2. memories are one thing....we jumped that stuff cuz thats all there was round parachute= bad bad bad Not so - I disagree. I still jump rounds today. I have been injured worse under my square than I ever was under a round. Rounds are NOT bad bad bad - they just require paying more attention to landings, that's all. They are not the death rigs everyone makes them out to be. Real men jump rounds!
  3. Oh, man! What a blast of memories that stuff brings back...ahhhh...the good ol' days!
  4. Jumped with Bill Booth onto the North Pole in 1993.
  5. I believe the US Air Force developed the pull down vent line to decrease the opening time of its 28' diameter emergency chutes. The Army and Air Force also use pdvl's to allow for faster inflation of air drop cargo chutes to allow lower drop altitudes.
  6. Does anyone know for certain how many SET-10 "DELTA" canopies were made in a mottled green camouflage pattern? I have heard four and I have heard nine. I would appreciate hearing any input from someone that has definite data as to numbers.
  7. Unpack main and reserve, shake out loosely, daisy-chain the lines and store in a cloth kit bag. Remove batteries from the AAD and store them separately. Store everything in a dark, cool place, preferably with air-conditioning. Zero-P canopies will stick together into a brick if left packed for long periods of time.
  8. AMEN, John! I have several times landed 'waaay out chasing someone's sleeve ( I'm dating myself here), d-bag, canopy, etc. Now it's everyone for himself and the Devil take the hindmost, I guess.
  9. I'm not certain this is the correct Forum or not but here goes a question for our military jumpers: Is it possible to collide with the deployment bag of the previous jumper in your stick? The scenario is a C-119, starboard door, exit speed of 125 knots (at least it was briefed that way), 1,200 feet AGL. Exit was fast, "back-packing" for certain - less than 1 second separation. I am looking for opinions as to the possibility of striking the previous d-bag.
  10. My Altimaster II has been on several dozen commercial airline trips in both the cabin and the cargo hold with no ill-effects. The cargo holds are pressurized to the same altitude as the cabin - I have never had the alti read more than 7K pressure altitude in the cabin.
  11. Spectre 210...far and away the softest, most reliable on-heading openings. Good flare at the bottom.
  12. How can you say that? I have just sold everyone a new reserve canopy, freebag and pc and probably a main d-bag and pc. ROFLPIMP
  13. Exactly my point: we need a conspicuous, stand-alone color that would immediately be noticed by air/ground people as a reserve deployment. It would take a few years but by attrition, gradually all reserve canopies would be the same color. Free-bags and pc's also should be a vivid color to enable location after cutaways as discussed earlier in this forum.
  14. Has anyone ever considered having the manufacturers standardize the reserve canopy color so it would immediately be obvious that it was a reserve out? Or am I upsetting all the "Designer Skydivers" out there?
  15. His auto-opener clocked open at 17,000 feet. Super safe, hey?
  16. I purchased mine for $250, replaced one pilot chute and I was in the air. Personally, I think $1,000 is a bit much - MT-1XX's and MC-4's can be had for far less if you shop around.
  17. Actually, you never really needed to cutaway from a round canopy. Most of the malfunctions were quite stable and still provided a lot of lift. That's why most round reserves never had a pilot chute in them.
  18. Thanks, Neil, I appreciate it. Larry
  19. Fergs & Airtwardo, Do either of you have a problem with me using one of your Pap photos to post an ad for a French Pap on e-bay? Thanks, guys - great photos BTW! Larry
  20. John, Thank you! The photo is perfect - just what I need. Larry
  21. Does anyone out there have a good picture of the Papillon round canopy in flight? Thanks.....
