  1. Hey all....what would a fair price be for a deployment sleeve in really nice condition for a 28' Jumbo PC? Thanks in advance! Larry D2238
  2. I have a shorty sleeve for the Jumbo as designed for it. As far as a reserve, I have a strong 26' lopo in a SLCP MIRPS. I am all set except for a harness for the B12 container. Push come to shove, I will direct-bag it out of my MC-1 h & c, but I definitely want to free-fall it. We have a Skyvan coming to Dunnellon, FL in October and I would like to get it jump-ready by then.
  3. I am in need of a B4 / B12 harness in airworthy condition. I have a new-to-me Jumbo PC and I need a rig to jump it. I have extended a B12 container but I am in need of a harness for it. Unless someone can suggest an alternate harness/container system for the Jumbo? Thanks in advance! Larry D2238
  4. Bill....PM sent in reply.
  5. Poynter's manual covers this a little bit...part numbers, components and packing.
  6. Hi all, I am in need of a deployment sleeve for a 28' round canopy. Even a non-airworthy sleeve will suffice as I can use it for a pattern. (And please, let's not get into discussions of my sanity). If you have a sleeve, please let me know - airworthy, non-airworthy or a pattern. Thanks! Larry D2238
  7. Into my 6th decade here: 1960's through to the present. I will confess to slowing down a bit...with age comes wisdom, I guess! Almost forgot....that makes two different centuries, also. (Damn...I'm old)
  8. Mostly T10D Not so. We use all steerable mains: MC1-1C/D, SET-10's and SF-10A's exclusively. NO T10's. The FAA frowns on non-steerables jumping into crowded airshows. And, by the way, I have never seen a military chest reserve without a pilot chute of one type or another. As far as I know, they have always had them...right from the start back in the '40's.
  9. Not to hijack this thread but.....has anyone had any experience with a Singer 401A? Pros? Cons? Not looking to use as a harness machine, just the occasional heavier-than-normal material.
  10. E-mail sent with two mods for MC4 CYPRESS installation.
  11. I have two different mods for installing a CYPRES. Both require a bit of work on the container. Let me know if interested.
  12. Best safety device? It is that 6" gob of electro-chemical goo between your ears.
  13. Contact Bob Mathews directly at [email protected] and ask him.
  14. Wear a good pair of boots until you learn to properly flare and land your canopy.
  15. I have jumped PC's in a long sleeve, short sleeve and a bag. I'll take the short sleeve over the others...much better deployments. I'll take reliability and easy openings over a small reduction in bulk/weight.
  16. Lee, If you are going to make a PC - make a PC. If/when you start changing things, it's no longer a PC. And you will not know how it flies. I have a PC line length chart...both the original length and the recommended short-line length. If you still need the data, let me know.
  17. Why do people jump a reserve so much smaller than their main? What happens when you are unconscious under a heavily-loaded reserve? A correctly-sized reserve canopy will answer most of the questions in this thread. Anticipate the worst-case scenario - not the best!
  18. I propose that we realize skydiving has the same percentage of low-lives as in the general population and taking the appropriate steps to safeguard all of our gear...keep it locked up when you are not using it!
  19. I'm going back a while here: does anyone have or know where to find a training outline for student parachutists via the static line system? I need a lesson plan from back in the '60's for static lining round parachutes. Need it for round canopies, not todays squares. I need the whole plan, PLF's, mals, canopy control, etc. I'm hoping some of the old-timers here can point me in the right direction. With a very minimum of smart-ass remarks and questions, please. I'm in need of the plan(s) for a good reason. Thanks in advance!
  20. I'll jump there again for old times sake but it damn sure won't be a 28' cheapo! Keep me posted!
  21. Diesel, I was one of the original members of QSPC back in 1962. We used a DZ out towards Camp Barrett and jumped from UH-34D's from the Air Station. Made my first sport jump on a blank gore 28' cheapo.
  22. I'll second that: if Bob Mathews doesn't have it or can't get it, it's not to be had anywhere.
  23. We used to call that a mid-air collision!
  24. So I guess it is better to be "cool" and dead - than uncool with B-12's and alive? Ahh, all the designer skydivers must shudder at the thought of something "old school". Let's compare how many jumpers have died from mis-routed or not routed at all chest straps to failed B-12's. Anyone?
