Go to a DZ and track your ass off and find out what works for you. If you want to be scientific about it, you can buy a cheap GPS setup to calculate glide angle. Find a way to get over your issues with skydivers and maybe a freeflyer can help you out, maybe even get some in air footage of you for feedback on the ground. I guess I should have stated in bold letters that I HAVE spoken to a manufactuer. I try not to quote people on the net in relation to private conversations or private messages, lest I misquote them or somehow put their ass in a sling sometime down the road. They told me they like the larger slider for subterminal jumps, getting a more positive opening, and the smaller slider for terminal stuff, using the smaller size to constrict the lines, slowing the opening. They also said this is THEIR personal preference. They told me some people have made custom sliders in between the two, trying to find a middle ground. For people who have made signifigant slider up jumps on a Flik: I have noticed that the lrg hole mesh slider for my Flik 266 is signifigantly larger than the lrg hole mesh slider for my RockDragon 266. The Flik slider is probably 2-3"s longer and 3-4"'s wider. In regards to the Flik, have you stuck to the stock slider for terminal, or gone to a smaller one? I have a pair of Fox MX knee/shin guards. Once on, I pretty much forget they are there. They fit fine under my camo's, and I imagine they would fit fine under any regular jeans. The design does prohibit you from wearing them with shorts...but the only time I jump in shorts is intentional water landings sans knee pads, so that is a moot point for myself. I never said refuse rescue services or medical treatment to anyone...but in the end, you should have to pay for it. It is part of the responsibility we must all accept for our actions. And if you can't pay for it monetarily, then you should pay for it in civil service. Like the WPA or CCC. Hell, make the people work on rebuilding services in the aging National Parks... I'm going to strongly disagree. Society has no obligation to foot the bill when shit hits the fan for BASE, climbing, etc. BASE (and other extreme sports, even though I hate the term extreme)is/are all about personal responsibility and accountability, and to shirk away from expenses caused solely by our personal selfish endeavors is grossly irresponsible. That's exactly the info I am looking for...I have no problem buying an older tarp for saltwater landings and rinsing it out well between fliks...my main interests are if the canopy gets increased porosity, or if it substantially increases the chances of catastrophical failure. Did that SEAL tell you the rinsing procedure they used on a canopy after a salt water landing? Anything that the riggers paid closer attention to when inspecting the water canopies?
