  1. Wow. This thread is getting WAY off topic. Deadman Boogie Rocks! Big Ears and Uncles... Huh...? Hey Hungry, just copy and paste the links in your browser. I didn't feel like doing that whole 'clicky' thing... Ok. Commence to talking about whatever the hell this topic is going to...Or wherever it's coming from... Or just whatever the hell... DEADMAN BOOGIE ROCKS! ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  2. Awe, come on Bob. You know I was just kidding about the humming it low thing I just wanted to sound cool. It's not like I am eating peanuts out of shit or anything... This is all I have. I will save my 'low pulls' for another place Just sit back, relax, and have confidence that I would 'never' do such a thing... We did just have safety day, ... right? Love you Bob! ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  3. Oh Yeah, come on and fly into the darker side! Here is the video from last years Deadman Boogie. I recommend watching all three parts. part one: Jumps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4cL3s6w6rU part two: Jumps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pAF7xwIKIY part three: (party + the casket burning) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTyDvm4BDUY video editing by Chris Scaife (Great Job!) Good Times = Manditory!!! ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  4. I will be doing some freefly organizing for anyone that would like to do some vertical shit. I know freeflying and organization don't go together very well, but where there is a will, there IS a way. If I am not freeflying, I will be flying my V2. If I am not flying my V2, I will be smokin a downplane, If I am not smokin a downplane, I will be jumping the chopper, If I am not jumping the chopper, I will probably be really drunk and at the KICK ASS PARTY!!!!!!!! (If no one is looking, I will be humming it low...) oops. I didn't say that.... ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  5. We have the most fun at Skydive Houston. Good jumps, good people, a pool, cook outs and everything in between. We definately don't close the doors at sunset like our southern competitor. ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  6. Yeah, I am going to have to get in on some of those downplanes/ CRW at this years boogie. Go big or go home! ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  7. As the newest addition to the anvil brothers, I would like to thank all that are making this boogie an annual event. It is put together 'for the people, by the people'. The way it ought to be! This boogie is put together by fun jumpers (anvil brothers) and is non profit. It was a total success last year, and it should be an even bigger blast this year! If you are close to Houston, and you miss out on this boogie, I can guarantee you will regret it. We need everyones' support. It is put on to celebrate the lives of our fallen brothers and sisters of this great sport. Their lives will live on in our memories, and this great boogie. I can't wait to celebrate again this year at the 'Dead Man Boogie 2'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  8. Not to mention that I, the Houston/ Cali crew put Jackie off for her first PCA. She was very heads up, and did an outstanding job. Nice exit, body position, and landing! Great Job Jackie!!! She is low time, but knows what it will take to achieve her new goals. She will be BASE oriented for the next few hundred skydives until she gets to really experience BASE. 'I fed a wild dog steak'... You know wild dogs love a fresh juicy steak...: ) Welcome. I will be with you all the way! ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________

    Starting BASE

I am going to have to disagree that freeflying is not benifitial to BASE. Freeflying skills can really help understand your body orientation, and minipulating the air in no matter what body position you are in, to get yourself back to the position that is desired for a smooth on heading opening. If you have never been on your back, feet, or head, and you end up that way during a nice delay BASE, it sure is nice to know how to get out of it. Plus if you freefly, you tend to get invited on a lot more multi-way max track dives. It is all good skills to obtain, and you should never stop learning and think you know it all because you can fall flat and scary, track, and proficiantly fly your 7 cell. ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  10. You do know that most AM towers are transmitting through out the whole tower. And that it is a possibility to ground yourself and get a nice shock while getting on the ladder. Just an FYI. As for all of the negative comments on this thread; just sit back and laugh. We are not gods because we BASE. We are just people like anyone else, with the will to live in an extreme way. I do recommend to keep working on your canopy skills, practice exits, drills on 'what if' in your head over and over. Do your homework, examine each site on your own terms whether you are with someone that has jumped it or not. Jump for yourself and don't try to impress anyone with a camera on there head. Enjoy, welcome, and keep it real. ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________

  12. In my opinion, I think getting a semi-large spectre would be an ideal decision in a pre-emtive attempt at getting into BASE. They are a great all around performing skydiving canopy. They are much better for CRW than the lightning is. Line it with dacron, put red or black center lines on it with no cascades. Great for wingsuit openings, and I can dial the one I use in on a target in a similar fasion as I would in a BASE eviroment, only in DZ conditions. Go with it man, don't go too small, maybe load it @ .8 or so. ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________

  14. I got the same one. The exact same verbage aswell. I copied this thread and pasted it to an e-mail to him. Hopefully he will get the picture, that he is not dealing with a bunch of idiots. Happy selling.. dave ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  15. All this talk about past jumping is making me want to jump now. In the present. less bitching, more jumping. I would also like to thank everyone involved that has contributed to this sport and making it what it is today. In the present. ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  16. YEAH! I think this tool is a great asset to the progression of flight characteristics from different objects, conditions, altitudes, and equipment/ wingsuits/ track suits. To be able to correlate google earth and this little wrist mount GPS unit through software specifically created for this purpose is something that is not only a great learning tool, but very fun to play with as well. I am one of the jumpers on these pics. I used this little tool on only a couple of jumps, and learned that from a certain terminal altitude, under similar wind conditions that I can increase my distance of track by diving on my first four seconds of decent rather than going flat and stable into my track. The pull altitude was the same within a few feet, but my track distance increased by more than 100 feet. With this tool, it is only obvious that I can chart out my flight characteristics down to pin point accuracy and improve my performance drastically. Has anyone else experimented with this technique? If so, has it helped your performance? Any new ideas or input is greatly appreciated. dave ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________

    bird issue...

I see these birds on almost every day tower jump. They are very curious and as interested in you as you are in them. No, they do not propose any threat. I actually like them around. Especially when I am about 1200' or so and they just keep flying with, and around me. The higher I go, the higher they go, and they just keep following. I look at them as my liitle flying friends. Gives a really cool visual, and they mean no harm. They are just waiting for you to bounce, so they can eat you... Just jump it bro. ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  18. according to GPS data and google, I know that on a no wind day and with normal cloths i reached about 465' horizonal from a little higher than this. And I wouldn't consider myself to be the best of trackers, but defintely not the worst! I also pulled at around 300' or a little higher. Just pull before impact, and this might save you before the water. ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  19. Let him try to come to my home turf. I can assure you there WILL be some old school tar and feathering going on, and we will go extra thick on the suran wrap. Then we will box his ass up and ship him to Butt Fucking Egypt! ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  20. I support that anyone wanting to get involved in BASE should watch this video. It 'used' to be a prerequisite at my home turf. It was to be viewed before you go on your first mentored jump. Although, the only jumper that possesses it in my area doesn't really jump anymore.( that I know of...)....And our crew really only consist of 3 experienced jumpers. (Which is pretty cool, but kind of frustrating sometimes...) I watched it when I started doing GC, about a year before I actually took the leap. I really think I should have watched it an hour before my first jump. I think I lost some of the true impact, (no pun intended) and awareness that this video could have provided for me from the time I first did GC, to the time I did my first jumps. This may have prevented me from being as anxious, and doing some of the foolish things I did when I first started. The more I jump, the more I realize how serious this sport really is. If you are considering getting into BASE, do it with patients, as much knowledge as you can obtain, be current in skydiving,( including accuracy and drills with a big 7 cell), hard work, , determination, perseverance, and ONE mentor you know you can trust. All of this while accepting the true danger and ultimate addiction that lies before you. Anyway, no more preaching. Just do it wholeheartedly, and not because you think it's cool. It really isn't for everyone. ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  21. I think 420 is pretty damn cool. Who has that? ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  22. It is very surreal watching an antenna wiz by you after about 3 sec. That is, if you are comfortable enough looking between your legs during freefall. Ground rush is much more intense at high speeds/low pulls. As one of my good friends always says, "Having a big A and climbing up to 300 is like having a Porsh, and driving a Yugo..." Oh, and by the way, if you BASE, you are NOT a pussy. Maybe a dumbass, but not a PUSSY..;P ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  23. So did we plan the jump and jump the plan when that fog rolled in on our climb the other night? That was pretty intense, and pretty stupid none the less. "Man, that other antenna looks like Jack and the bean stalk.." "Shine the light!" "I can't see shit"... Just to clarify, we were just too damn lazy to climb down, and too much partying to do afterwards! BUT, this should not be the excuse for a bad limp, or death. Think I will opt not to be so lazy to climb down next time. Edit to add: I have also climbed down more than 10 times in the last 2 months. Seems like the more I jump, the more willing I am to just say to hell with it, it just doesn't feel right, and there is always next time. Kind of an ironic thread bro.. ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
  24. Why don't you just deliver it in person? Like when you and Sam got that road kill 'bugs bunny' off the side of the road, and I had the pleasure of throwing it off that cliff in Moab last year. That was funny as hell. Sick Video... "poa wittle wabbit," "he wost his wittle tail" Priceless ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________

    FRASCA II.3

Don't worry. I am sure that anyone lucky enough to participate in something that takes as much time, money, thought, and overall work, would not mind chipping in. Especially if they have ever experienced it before. Thanks again for all of your efforts! ________________________________________ "We make our own rules, We pave our own paths, We write our own destinies, We 'live' our own lives" ________________________________________
