  1. The fact that you say that sarcastically proves my point. Buy more guns and ammo. make sure everyone you love is carrying. You owe it to them to ensure their safety. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  2. Well then, you have spoken. Keep the blinders firmly on then while the world passes by you. And hope you die before you find out that you are wrong and the larger world was right. Only in America can you find large numbers of people who think like you. That's because in America you have a right wing media talk show industry to feed your fantasy and tell you what the team should believe. 3. I've come to the conclusion that Islam shares more in common with street gangs than with other Abrahamic religions. It's insistence on death for apostates sets it apart. Organizations that murder those who want to leave them are not normally tolerated in our society. Too bad such a large part of the world is stuck with such an evil ideology. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  4. Who does not want their Grandma to love them and give them cookies? Surely you are not yet so jaded that you don't! Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  5. Inefficient and overpriced, never a recipe for success. Sears, and similar organizations put thousands of smaller less efficient stores out of business when they were dominant. Now they have also failed to adapt and will go away the same as those they drove away. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  6. I'd call it a Candidate's Confrontation. Not a debate, but a drama. I'll be in America, driving south on US 61 in northern MO about that time. On my way to Guntown, MS. I guess I'll listen, at least for a while. Satellite radio is such a "gift". Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  7. I suppose you have never used the term "tea bagger" before have you? *** No, I have not. I had to Google it to find out what it might mean in context. It's vulgar, I tend to mostly avoid vulgarity. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  8. Two, same as you. Mine are grown. Two step daughters as well, they are a little younger, but also adults. We are empty nesters now. Do you really believe an atmosphere with a higher percentage CO2 will be what they need to help them thrive? That somehow this will be a good thing because plants will grow better? You asked what the bad effects might be, then you call those that disagree with you "bed wetters". You seem to think name calling is an effective way to make a point. You are wrong about that. And you are wrong about more carbon release being a good thing. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  9. My guess is sleeping. The truck is a day cab, meaning no sleeper. So he is a local driver. The hours of service laws cover how much time off you must have, but they have no way of making you sleep enough. He probably dozed off with the cruise control on. A new truck would have a sensor and applied brakes in that situation. At least enough brake to ease the crash, but not enough to completely prevent it. 13. The Singer lubricant reminds me of Vasoline. The machine collector people generally recommend "TriFlow Clear Synthetic Grease" on the bevel gears, but a small amount of any light grease will do. I think the manual says to just oil them regularly. The worm gear I'm afraid of. Not the worm gear itself, but the phoneletic gear on the hand wheel that it drives. It's a potential weak point as is the anti-backlash spring inside the handwheel assembly. If either of these break the only source is a donor machine. Just use a light amount of tri-flow. There is a sealed ball bearing at the top of the motor where the output shaft exits. These often go dry and sometimes need to be replaced. But usually you can drip a tiny amount of oil onto them from up top and that will renew the grease inside and save them. Sometimes the motors need new brushes. You can split the case and remove the armature to polish the commutator. I have the service manual with instructions somewhere, but no time to look right now. If the motor seems to operate and drive the machine, just oil that bearing, very lightly. The biggest mistake people make is trying to oil the motor itself. That always ends badly and the motor then needs to be overhauled. The motor does not want any oil or grease inside of it, and it is downhill from that worm gear. So don't overdo the lubricant there. 14. The machine in the picture is a Singer 66. Extremely common. That said, if you are going to start with an older domestic straight stitch Singer, get a 15-90 or a 15-91. The 15-91 has a gear drive motor a lot like the 401. The 15-90 has an external belt drive. Singer model 15s are the most copied sewing machine ever produced. You can still buy a brand new one made in India. But the quality is not nearly as good as an older one. They are just as cheap, and a little more suitable with the large class 15 bobbin to boot. It's easy to spot a model 15, or one of it's many copies. They are the machines with the tension dial on the left face plate instead of facing the operator. 15. But.... inner city youth are the ones who need weapons the most. The murder rate is higher there. So according to NRA logic they should ALL carry guns. For self protection. An armed society is a polite society, remember? Obtain a concealed carry permit. A lot of them live in states that are still trying to make it hard for them to vote, never mind get CC permits. Are these same states trying to make it harder for "THEM" to drive as well? Are they trying to make it harder to buy beer and alcohol? What about getting a library card? Insurance? Cashing a check? Opening a bank account? Visiting someone in jail? I'm curious - do you believe we should be making it easier to obtain a CC? Just making suggestions on how the NRA can get to it's goal of an armed, polite society. The Balance of Fear theory. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 17. Higher sea levels, floods, more, not fewer tornadoes due to more energy in the system, crop failure in the present arable areas, possibly offset by a shift to different productive areas. Mass migrations of desperate people driven off of low lying coastal areas, massive summertime deaths due to heat effects in areas of the world that can't afford air conditioning, higher and higher demand for electricity to run air conditioners, more tropical diseases as mosquitoes move into formerly temperate zones, ocean acidification causing a decrease in the photoplankton that is at the base of the food chain, general disruption of the food chain, lack of fresh water for cities due to loss of glaciers, large run away fires in woodland and grasslands, massive disruption of global economies due to shifting desperate populations no long being able to purchase anything, military conflict over the remaining arable land, all of these and more are possibilities as events unfold. This does not take into account the possibility, not proven, but not farfetched either, that the feared "tipping point" into a runaway greenhouse gas and heating situation could arise. The amount of carbon and methane that will be released from from arctic sea beds when the ice is gone and the cooling albedo effect on the surface is gone is unknown at this time. But don't worry, you will be dead or at least old before the worst of this occurs. When you are old and wetting your bed yourself there may or may not be someone around to change your sheets and clean you up. 19. You get what you pay for. Perhaps that's part of the problem. But we have had misbehaving cops, cops covering up misdeeds of their brothers, mistreatment of first nations people sometimes resulting in deaths, rogue police raiding the evidence locker for drugs, and powerful police unions who inappropriately support wrong doers at times. The police you have are a reflection of the society you have. They are not just bothers and sisters to each other. They are your brothers as well. Cops are people like any other. They make mistakes, and some have evil motivations. They just need to be held accountable like everyone else is. Except of course bank executives. It turns out they have no accountability at all! 21. I just Googled it. I've never heard of it, but it's likely a Spanish or Italian market and made version. It looks a lot like a 237, but it takes 66 class bobbins and uses 401 style cams for patterns. If it has metal gears driving the shafts it's likely a robust machine and good for what you are talking about. But if it has nylon gears, they will be old and hard by now and easily broken. 23. What do you mean by accessible? http://www.bpa.org.uk/assets/Miscellaneous-docs/What-does-BPA-do-for-me.pdf BPA thinks that if it wasn't for their overbearing hidebound organization the UK government would shut down skydiving in the nation. Why they think Britain would become the only place in the world to do so is beyond me. They are overcome with their sense of mission and importance, while a large portion of their membership simply leaves the country to get out from under their heels. In comparison USPA is a free wheeling club. The title of this thread should be "appreciate the USPA" rather than what it is. 24. Your Raven will probably stall and hurt you when you flare it for landing at that wing loading. The ZP topskin will make no difference. You may as well speed it up, just remember, it will stall about when your hands make the transition from pull to push if you don't. Many people have regretted being in this situation.
