  1. Anyone ever have surgery to treat this condition? I have it in my left wrist and have already tried steroid injections, immobilization etc to no avail. My Doctor was quite insistent on trying all the less invasive approaches first, but now he is recommending the surgery. The procedure involves opening the dorsal carpal ligament over the first dorsal compartment to release the tendons. I'm a guitar player (lead) and have some concerned re: possible nerve damage etc. Unfortunately the pain is significant enough that its completely preventing me from playing about the 12th fret, so I guess surgery is my only option. anyone here ever have this surgery? If so, what were your results? __ My mighty steed
  2. LOL Fear much? __ My mighty steed
  3. His passenger was killed. That doesnt count? __ My mighty steed
  4. Yeah! Anyone thats seen the "Highlander" movies and TV series knows that heads pop right off with a single, easy, one-handed sword stroke __ My mighty steed
  5. Thats better. Now you can have your cake and jump out of it too __ My mighty steed
  6. I didnt say thats what you should do. I said if skydiving is very important to you, thats what you should do. big difference. For myself, I would not take a job in a location that didnt have a dropzone nearby. For ME (and many here I assume) its that important. I dont presume to advise you on what your priorities should be. __ My mighty steed
  7. Do you think the editor was doing his job here? __ My mighty steed
  8. If skydiving is really important to you, then you should probably not take the job. there isnt shit for dropzones anywhere within a reasonable driving radius of there... __ My mighty steed
  9. That could be true. Of course now its 15 years later and my brain must still not be working right because I'm still sober and happy and I still dont credit God.
  10. Ah. I didn't see that part. This is a VERY long thread and I have not read the entire thing. I would point out though, that peoples brains are absolutely not functioning properly when they have been constantly bathed in drugs and/or alcohol for an extended period. Indeed, I didnt feel like my own was working even close to normally until I'd been drug free for a year or more. Are you not willing to consider the notion that the voice you heard might have been the result of your malfunctioning brain? I certainly have my own share of memories from that time in my life that were confused, and I have memories of events that absolutely never happened. (and no memories of events that did happen) __ My mighty steed
  11. Just as a point of information, I was hopelessly addicted to drugs and alcohol and was hospitalized involuntarily several times in both drug/alcohol rehabs and mental institutions. I hated myself, I hated my life, I'd lost my family and my job and had no hope for the future. This went on for years. Then, one day, I was delivered from my addiction. Just like that I just stopped and never looked back. I got up in the morning and knew that I was done with it. I havent had a drink or drug in 15 years and have not had a single craving since that time. Today I love my life and have healed the rifts with my children and have a good paying job in a lucrative field. (and I get to skydive too) I do not go to AA or any other 12 step program (although I have been to a few meetings) I have not gone since then. God didnt do this for me. I did this for myself. Your story is not unique, but your conclusions do a huge disservice to yourself. The fact that you have no rational explanation for your deliverance doesnt mean that it wasnt you that brought about the change. Deciding it had to be God is no different than ancients making up Thor because they had no rational explanation for the phenomenon of thunder. __ My mighty steed
  12. Modern sport rigs have the reserve handle (usually) on the left side main lift web. Dont know the difference with military gear. I cant imagine the reserve handle being on top of the reserve unless it was an older belly mounted reserve. __ My mighty steed
  13. If you delivered what he ordered then its a done deal. Any flexibility that he might have had coming to him has already been used up in spades when you were very flexible and understanding about his payment situation. You even offered to work with him on the canopy colors with the caveat that he must not jump the one he had. You did all you could and then some. You owe him nothing. Give him his gear and keep the money and dont do business with him any more. He sounds like a complete horses ass. __ My mighty steed
  14. Why not post this link in the French forum? Or maybe mention that its a french language website? __ My mighty steed
  15. Every item in the poll would ruin any pizza. I wouldnt eat any of them. Yuck Still, they are relatively normal pizza toppings except for that last one. Green Beans is just bizarre __ My mighty steed
  16. I'd love to support the Philadelphia Orchestra, but I cant. I went frequently when I was a kid and wish I could treat my family, but now its just too damned expensive. __ My mighty steed
  17. I would not agree that if you fly a Sabre2 of a given size, that you can safely substitute a Pilot one size smaller. I've owned a Sabre2 210 and a Pilot 210 and found them similar in flight characteristics. Sabre2 was a touch snappier. Likewise I owned a Sabre2 190 and a Pilot 188 and had a similar experience. I then demo'd a Sabre2 170 last fall, but I bought a Pilot 168 this spring and I'm very happy with my choice. The Pilot opens better and on heading far more often than the Sabre2 in my experience at all the sizes I've had, and lands just as softly once you are used to the differences in the flare. The Sabre2's I've owned opened off heading at least half the time and slammed the crap outta me on a couple occasions. I'm loading my Pilot at about 1.4 and I'm quite happy with the way it performs. __ My mighty steed
  18. Because I'm not willing to spend $75/jump for the next two years Did I mention said jump only goes to about 9000 ft? And that the only DZ around is open maybe twice a month? I'd replace where you live rather than replacing skydiving __ My mighty steed
  19. A 12 gauge is certainly a damn sight better than a shovel __ My mighty steed
  20. I think its entirely possible to be relaxed but in a hightened state of mental alertness at the same time. I'd say this fairly accurately describes my state of mind on most of my jumps now. Fear is not good, but a healthy respect and understanding of what this sport can do to you if you become complacent should always be present. __ My mighty steed
  21. I did my first tandems in 1989 with Don Kellner on my back when the dz was called Northeast PA Ripcords and Don still took students up regularly He does log each and every jump. If he says its 40,000 you can believe it. they have to be verified in order to qualify for the world record which has been firmly his for more than 20 years, and yes most of the jumps he does now are hop and pops. He gets on damn near every load and jumps out around 3k, although I dont see that that makes any difference. A skydive is a skydive. I dont jump there much anymore because Cross Keys is a lot closer and they have Otters, but I do get back every year or two and its always a good time __ My mighty steed
  22. Lots more people here too, but you are right. The problem here isnt that we need more laws or less guns, though. We dont enforce the laws we do have so they are useless. __ My mighty steed
  23. Sure, as long as you are using a Cricket bat or another item far less certain to save your butt from an attacker
