  1. Sure is ironic that Heroin use has increased every year since the US has invaded Afghanistan. I'm sure it's just a coincident, right?
  2. The power has come up a bit but, the big breakthrough has been in the driveline. Staged clutches and air shifters are what's makin this possible. John Force set the low ET at 3.966 in Pomona, then came back and knocked .001 off that. Oh and he won the opening race of the season. And lets not forget his 2 daughters that also race. On a sad note, RIP to Don Garlits Amazing wife Pat. The 1st Lady if drag racing for many years.
  3. Usual loop length between 4.25-4.5". Just had to settle for a 5.5" loop and it was TITE. My 1st pack was just a little bit on the loose side and my 2nd was text book flat fold, UPT picture near perfect. 1st was easier to close. Both required a Lot of massaging and going very slow. Got the PC down and let sit for a couple hrs. Broke the 4.5 and almost the 5. Looked great. Rig is headed to lower altitude and higher humidity. Expecting it to loosen up a bit, hoping the PC doesn't come up. Anyone else experience this?
  4. John Force at 64 yrs young, just set a new National speed record in BOTH low ET AND Top Speed for Funny Car. 3.965 ET and better than 324 MPH. Unreal! Huge Grats for a great job!
  5. I've done a few of these and the 4.25-4.5" range has always worked. Super neat folds and weighted to get all the air out. Works great. Till now. I'm at 3500' and after breaking 3 loops (yeah, knew the last 2 were gonna go. Just wanted to see how close I could get to finishing), I settled at 5.5" and it was still tight. Been told about this before, just figured I could do it better. I was wrong.
  6. Maybe. Whatcha up for? Shows, food, entertainment or a jump?
  7. Offer a free jump and it'll get filled with skydivers....z
  8. Man, what happened here? In the Ole days, the biggest bitch wuda been, "Dude, don't Bogart that Doobie!" Had this been an Air France flight, they would have cleaned out the stash. The reason they drug test is to get rid of the non partiers.
  9. Lift has got to be 50 a plane. Sounds like its time to plan a Boogie in the desert or the next World record
  10. Ben Bernanke ruled the Fed during an unprecedented time. Record debt, QE infinity and a stubborn economy held back by a restrictive political atmosphere. He retired with the shortest notice ever in the history of the Fed. IMO, he saw what is coming and made a hasty exit. Left a woman in charge to take the heat. Demographics and cycles are pointing to scary times ahead. Our current situation is unsustainable and the options are few. A major reset is needed and will happen within the next few months. This winter will make our last pullback look like a hiccup. Sectors still look strong but, mkt as a whole will be hit hard.
  11. I've bought and sold a few items here and have never had any real problems. Till recently. Got the items and they ended up being what was advertised but, the communication and delivery had a lot to be desired. We're a small community and somebody knows somebody who probably knows everybody. Having a good, bad or poor rating might get a few to reconsider how they treat others. No guarantee, just another arrow in the quiver to keep folks treating others as they would like to be handled. Whaddya think?
  12. I know if an instance where an observer used the ride to altitude to commit suicide. Signed a waiver but, that still didn't prevent the FAA from immediately yanking a very experienced pilots license and grounding the bird. Huge nightmare to get back in the air and legal issues from smashing into a house on the ground. Waaaaaaay too much risk for me and that won't EVER happen at my place. You either have a rig on and know how to use or sit on the ground.
  13. Easy to lump it together and dismiss. Radiation is invisible. Chemtrails are not. Just look into the sky. A contrail will dissipate, because it is frozen water vapor. A Chemtrail will not. You will see multiple trails across the sky and often cross each other. Please convince that is normal and the 2 are the same.
  14. Las Vegas Extreme is straight south on I-15 in Jean. Tandem factory but, we have lots of slots open. 240 Nzvigatirs for rent. Early morn best. C'mon out
  15. I have been transformed into Bizzarro world. "That Guy" didn;t get his way and walked out in the middle of a busy weekend day. Plane was running and just got his panties in a twist and left. Don't worry. Not to be outdone, we now have "That Guy" 1 and now 2. #1 hasn't got a clue how to spot, so he has the students hooked up at 4k, door open and standing there waiting for the light even before 10k (we're going to 12.5). No looking, just bail out in an uncontrolled tumble when the light goes on and always has the drogue within 15 secs. to get stable. #2 can't get on the plane without any other rig than his micro Sigmas which he very considerately had all of us waiting for the packer to put together while the plane sat on the ground running even though there were 2 other packed rigs he could have used. And the owner tells me this guy is in charge around here now. Give me the bullet now please.....
  16. Have been for a while now. Found the slink and risers are getting beat up from the slider. I covered them with a piece of plastic tubing I got from Home Depot. Seems to be working great. make it about 3' long to be sure and keep the slider away from everything.
  17. This is the thing that just gets me more than anything in this Sport/Business. 1st thing when I post these is I get questioned on the validity of the post. Or I get schooled in what is obvious. I don't do this for that reason. It's to show what I am finding and hopefully avoid anyone else from causing the same mistakes I have found. The link that is bent was on a rig I was jumping at this place. Thank God I didn't have a reserve ride on it. Scared me but good. If my post can help avoid this, that's what it's about. Save yer lessons for someone else and take the info for what it's worth. And by the way, 1 of the riggers that missed this was a DPRE.
  18. Finger nail loose. I opened a rig up and in just stretching the lines out, discovered the left rear link was bent. How did that happen? Upon urtherinspection, it had a ride on it from 7 yrs before. No data cards on the rig (yeah, what was with that) however, I knew most of the riggers that had touched this. At least 2 repacks per year. It had less than 1 mm of the barrel in the whole. Extremely unlikely to have survived even a non terminal opening IMO. Finger tight screws. It scared me. The risk/reward here seems obvious. Why take a chance? Lock it down.
  19. On the last 4 Sigmas I opened, all had loose screws on the reserve L bars. It was a 182 operation. I think locktite can solve this issue. UPT is telling me no, they don't endorse it. They tell me because they can't open them up if needed. 1st, the blue locktite comes undone. 2nd, even if it didn't, isn't that a good thing? Even if I had to take bolt cutters to them, I don't care. I would rather do that than risk having it come undone when I needed it. Can't think of a much scarier situation having 1 or more risers release on a reserve especially on a Tandem. Thoughts?
  20. Is Production assistant in that? Nice to be able to setup a leader clip and then just have the clips and transitions all laid out instead of having to do each and every one every time. Not too much of a hassle but seems avoidable.
  21. Which Vegas? There are about 8 different ones with al kinds of prices. How do ya make a decision? best Buy isn't much help.
  22. Thanks foir the input everyone. Not sure if this clears it up. I have a PC with a decent graphics card and a quad core processor. I can easily add additional storage if needed, I am looking for the most simple to use, fastest method that gets the job done, Not gonna do anything fancy, just simple leader, interview, walk to the plane, takeoff, interview, freefall and canopy ride and follow up. Ending leader and then get it on a disc to hand over. Any clear choice stand out here?
  23. Finding myself in a position where I need to edit my own videos. I have never done this before and haven't got a clue which direction to go. Being told the Macs are the easiest way and leaning towards that. Any and all help will be appreciated but, please be specific and give a reason for the advice. Thanks in advance
