  2. Well me and my teammate are putting together dive pools for training this year. I went to the USPA competition manual and checked it out, and found that I knew there were things missing that say went on at the money meet... does anyone have a decent dive pool list laying around they would be willing to post? Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  3. you know I just got my first merlin this summer slimmer fit, double layer fabrics, and it flies about 150 on my head with some work...but the transitions are great and I am not a small fry, I weight over 200 out the door... base price I think is 225. I liked mine so much that I ordered a second suit, added all sorts of crazy colors and designs and they only added an extra 80 bucks which blew sonic from the pro shops head... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  4. I loved my merlin suit so much that I just ordered a second one...got a little whacky with the design and they only upped the price 80 bux! love this company Thanks to Leland sticking in his order at the same time, I got my Merlin in 4 weeks! I love the quality but I felt it was tight in my bum...I asked for the slimmer cut and got it and was like woah...thats slim cut...so as a result I have to work for my slower speeds, but at the same time the transitions get zero float :) Cheers Merlin
  5. yeah, I did a jump with someone the other day that was so un- agressive with his legs that his knees were way up and making him unstable, I kept giving him the hand signals to push down on his feet, but he ignored them...it was definately work to stay with him as he was all over the place with his speed and back sliding ;) as far as the head down cartwheel...start by doing this...(it worked for me recently.... start doing full cartwheels and full front and back loops... do it solo, do it with others (just be safe) get really good at those, and being really relative to others...and docking and whatnot...then the head down cartwheels just takes doing a large block of jumps in a short amount of time to get good at... (no weekend warrioring, just knock out a whole bunch take a vacation or something ;) ) good luck man Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  6. You're truly a horrible person to suggest they do that to poor Tom! They should give him the wrong count and let him go out early and alone...that would be funnier. we accidentally did that to this guy mike guy slipped in the door and recovered and then started the count... oh well the jump was shit anyway... have fun record people...we want video! 7. yeah mine is slimer cut right now, and I really have to work at it or fly daffy to stay with groups...so I designed a new jumpsuit, and asked merlin for a tiny bit extra from the last one to see the difference... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  8. I'm a politician from the media who doesn't know what he's talking about. Oh, and a WHUFFO. Actually I think you are a non participant with no agenda other than to meddle in the sport of people who actually do know what they are doing and realize the risk, assume it and realize that if they mess up, it is no ones fault but their own... as I said in my other post that got deleted... the only way to avoid this is to avoid the take off and landing paths...and keep your head on a swivel, and even then, some day something bad might happen for no reason...its life, accept it... this aint a card game...and I like it that way.... 9. AMEN! http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  10. dont jump, see I got lucky, my New Bionic barometer in me leg tells me when not to jump... And if you keep jumping in turbulant wind, you too will have a titanium barometer in your leg or somewhere else that will tell you when not to jump ;) Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  11. plus its a vision in addition to what the others said ;) When was the last time I saw one flown...oh yeah it was at the christmas boogie two christmases ago and it was a demo ;) Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  12. it took me about 30 something to get so I was flying down the tube, then it took me about another hundred to break my bad habits thanks to john skinner pounding the arms forward lounge chair ideal into my head over and over and over.... I say it is better to start with coaching so we get the ideas right instead of making our bodies fly in awkward positions to compensate for poor position ;) (it will save you money in the end to do it first) Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  13. with a sit, most people start by pushing their arms way back and leanign forward, avoid this if you can... what you would like to feel like is sitting in an arm chair with your upper arms straight out to your sides and your forearms slightly forward so you can see your thumbs in your periphery.... this will give you much more mobility in the end and will as well make it easier to take forward docks... when you feel you have gotten to a point with it get some coach jumps...if you can find someone to do free pickup coaching (which you will find sometimes on loads when you are doing solos...) cheers and good luck... Pilot

I originally bought this canopy and liked it at first the openings were good and on heading... then I started playing with the front risers...what I found I did not neccesairily like...the front risers are not predictable... so my final review is that this is a great canopy for conservative canopy pilots...if you like a standard pattern and want to use this canopy to get to the ground ... buy it, it will server you well... if you want something that will be predictable with front risers, buy a sabre2
  15. nice viddie man...really enjoyed that one, I might have to come play ;) Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  16. I like the ones where I coach people and they learn to fly better and there faces just light up...but other than that I love two and three ways... as far as exits go...I like getting silly with it, like flipping over a sit fliers head and grabbing their container and flying the head down as the slide down the hill... so just think of silly things to do on the hill and have fun and be safe... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  17. Freeflying is total body flight, it is flying on your belly, flying on your back, flying head down, flying head up, flying on angles (autmonauti) and tracking...so to answer your question, it is everything :) Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  18. I love my sabre 2 170...I recently upsized due to me being a stupid git and having the aforementioned but Ill be really safe syndrome... and to be honest loading my sabre2 at 1.35 or so....I get nice (for me) swoops...I can steer around others nicely with my front risers should some silly brit cut me off by going diagonally across the landing area in eloy... and yet it flies dociley enough when I need it to so I can land in a small field between two sets of power lines like I had to today cuz I got lost looking for the ranch :) awesome canopy love it love it love it... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  19. I just started flying on my head and am glad it took me until now to do it...see you can hold a stable sit...but can you dock on people, are your arms forward flying in a true neutral position? I found that once I got to a point where I could fly a solid base arms forward recliner style I could move better do turns cartwheels and front and back loops better take forward docks etc etc... then I went to arizona and knocked out 70 training jumps in two weeks and got on my head... plus there is that whole high speed awarness thing that comes witha few more sit jumps ;) I am not knocking what you are doing, I just know what worked for me and those around me... cheers and good fun... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  20. get as good headdown as I am on my head up and work on autmonauti we did a quick bit of it the other day on a track dive it was fun... in addition I want to work a lot on two way jumping and organizing 2 way jumps with mates... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  21. I fly an jav oddy and I found that the trick is to stick the closing flap between two of the flaps and definately check your closing loop size, other than that no riser covers come out and it is super comfy in freefly which is more than I can say for the Talon FS i flew in eloy...riser covers flapping like a mofo and super uncomfy...but hey what works for me works for me and what works for you works for you...its all about what you are comfy with... Cheers and blues Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  22. yeah jerm...you know hwat makes the ranch for me is the people that I have met and had great times with...the ones I have travelled to see like you and hiedi and all the great people who helped me along, and I count drew and theresa and kim and jon and eric and emma and LT and many others that I cant think of right now because I am a little trashed... but seriously guys its about the good people and the jumping... thank you all at the ranch for being there at the ranch and out and about... I will always hold it in a special place in my heart... Cheers and see ya this week to those of you around ;) Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  23. well its cool cuz today I got whacked by a dust devil after a greatr jump with a guy learning to sit... imaging a 90 degree carving turn planed out go to flare and whack your canopy colapses... oh well at least the jump was sick... http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  24. why oh why do I have to go back to snowy new york instead of hanging out and jumping all weekend while this is going on.... grrrr stupid money Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  25. heh well I am in arizona did 70 jumps in the last week and a half ;) and all I have to say is the reason we are not sitting around talking about this on the internet is because we are out doing it ;) Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
