  1. yeah I remember when I started loading a sabre 150 at what you are loading the 120. I was like wow this is awesome I can really take this canopy a lot farther than my 170... great canopy, awesome to learn to swoop on, and not so bad when it comes to landing out either... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  2. all I have to say to that is that obviously Icarus didnt know you had less than 500 jumps since that is their reccomended jump numbers for that canopy. this cnaopy is no joke... any little motion you make under canopy will be translated into movement in some way in the canopy... if your one leg strap is shorter than the other after you adjust it, that will adjust your landing. I reccomend that you take a lot of time learnign to fly slowly, btw I have notice you can get a much longer swoop by carving a nice slow turn. I currently load a crossfire2 129 at around 1.6 Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  3. how much do you weight senor brick? can you come visit sussex, we have a guy we want to pair you up with for hybrids... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  4. YEs but I was specifically responding to someone who was saying that 1.2 wasnt so bad. But yes I agree with you whole heartedly and titaniumly. Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  5. I think that beats brian germains explaination of it. Thanks Dave Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  6. be carefull. Ok Marks...i will not abuse. I'm respecting the necessary time for my development. Just think about this... An acquaintance with about 275 -300 jumps loaded at 1:1 hooked himself into the ground and wound up with a doubly broken pelvis and broken femur... be careful bro and maintain altitude awareness would ya dont forget that an swoop abortion does save lives... http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  7. find a canopy coach....ask him what he thinks of your plots, and in the end, listen only to those who say what you want to hear. But if you want to stay in one piece, check your ego in the parking lot. Find someone who will give you canopy coaching and do it, but when I was in your shoes, I only listened to what I wanted to hear, and then sat for 4 months telling myself I was an idiot while I healed. yes you might be the next jeffro, but remember you only have a hundred and somethign skydives...you just dont have the experience. recently my friend with a wingloading of what you are aiming towards on a stilletto pounded into the ground loaded at"ONLY" 1.2 1.2 can still bite you in the ass hard and spit you out. 1.2 can still give you double pelvis femus and a lot of titanium 1.2 can still break your back ribs and burst your gallbladder. so dont look at 1,2 as a simple oh I can do it. respect it. get coaching keep your insides inside your body please Dave Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  8. cy-what? oh taht thing with the red light that I dont have ;) Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  9. I would be interested if I lived in florida, but I guess I will jsut have to try to get something kicking up here in NY instead ;) Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  10. I have had no issues with my javelins over the 3 that I have had, I liek the odysseys a little more on the FF side, but mostly for comfort Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  11. scorpios==Yummy :-P http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  12. Not in my view. It is withdrawing belief. you cannot suspend belief in all aspects...only some, you believe that your reserve wil work dont you, however unfounded that may be sometimes... you believe that the sun is orange which has been foisted upon you since childhood you believe in money which we are starting to find out is not really worth the paper it is printed on etc etc etc so aetheism is more a belief that there is no god. (that being said I am a siddarthic traveler of some sort and am just being a pain in your arse.) 13. I would say we always fight for what is good for american corporations ;) just look at guatemala and the United Fruit Compnay (now absorbed by DOle Fruit) and how many assasinations we had a hand in...oh wait we paid those guys in cash ;) ( I met a few of them when in Guatemala, some scary dudes) Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  14. just to be a jerk...I will help you with all the small girls you want help with just send em my way.... ;) katana = fast as hell turns from what I have seen form doing some light contact crew with one. (end cell to end cell 129 xfire vs 120 katana) having flown crossfire2s at 1.4 and now 1.6 I notice they are very resposive and could definately still be twitchy, remember to tell her that she will also have to at least open her chest strap wide once she opened on either of these canopies to make it less twitchy to harness input (i have noticed this more heavily on my current one as the wingloading is more extreme, but it works on both) Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  15. would love ot come play, but current financial burdens say otherwise Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  16. well it depends on who you would mesh with... I know some of the guys at Arizona personally...they are all very qualified and pretty damn chill.... I also hear good things about perris. if you want to come out east there are some great coaches at Crosskeys, Sussex and the Ranch as well. and then there is florida, but they have hurricanes right now. Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  17. I think Howard's coming. If he doesn't, I'm going to draft up another incident report for him. So, nobody's coming to watch me blow Jay's record out of the water with my PS143? Hey, I'll even stand it up on the other side of the pond Stay safe and get wet, Mike What no more lighting pond swooping or is that what a PS is ;) seriously one of the most impressive things I have seen outside of watch two students land in the pond two days in a row :-P Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  18. of course you do you mr lighting swooper... see if you can get the elusive howie to show up too and it will be a party ;) Dave :-P http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  19. I got a few different demos on stilettos, a 150 and a 170...and the 170 beat the shit out of me so hard that I had to send it back after 5 jumps a concussion and a compressed disc. on the lighter side when I could see straight on it, it seemed to have light toggle pressure, but harsh riser pressure. overall, try a crossfire or a vengance before this canopy
  20. I have had people take a day to critique and review my swoops, I also had the great fotune to have lots of time last winter laying in bed with a broken leg to email back and forth with Brian Germain. (I also read his book 6 times, maybe not so much to reread it but because the vicodin was clouding my memory of it) take your time, get input and remember often times the experienced guys made a lot of the mistakes for us while inventing this side of out sport. A wise person would learn form their mistakes and not have to remake them;) Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  21. Yay Jurgen, that was an awesome thing to add (I am being totally serious) also knwo that a pattern even in swooping and being predictable is also a good thing. then I will add to the go through canopy coaching if you can, moving fast and taking the chance is a fast way to a zipper. Cheers Skyjunky Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  22. yeah spend some time with a coach working on head up flying or you will not have a nice place to go when you cork your head down.... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  23. I definately use my hips and legs to steer and fly, in order to gain maximum forward moevemet, I almost look as if I am in the halfway point between upright and reclined in an easy chair... although if I need to get somewhere quickly I would much rather be on my head ;) my arms can be anywhere when I am sitflying at this point, I can fly them up down on my hips giving people the double bird (my hand signal for slow the f down) waving hello, you name it, if you want you should try sit flying with your hands crossed in front of you to get the position so that you dont rely on your arms for stability. Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  24. yeah I get a little fidgety and a lot of ADD in a big way...which usually causes me not to be able to deal with not having enough to do at work wh9ich wil require me to leave early and go to the dropzone, or cut work tomorrow... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  25. and that usually requires a bunch of tracking dives as well as it gets you used to the concept... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
