  1. hmmm I noticed a huge difference between the 170 and the 150...but I am also in the 210 range out the door... see when I started I think people said that canopies got twitchy at the 150 line :-P and that was only 2 years ago or so.... fly safe brother remember it is better to steer with your front risers than to pull and pray....and if you dont know what that means go find scott miller or brian germain...or some other canopy coash that I dont know... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  2. I do it by handin out "got titanium?" shirts to all the badass swoopers that have some, then when the younguns ask them what that means they can show off there zippers... hey man I learned to swoop on a bad ass canopya sabre2 170...it can go fast trust me.... cheers dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  3. well they changed for 2005 it started with start to fly head down so I went to eloy did 70 jumps in 2 weeks and then spent the rest of the year gettign comfortable on my head :-P while getting comfortable my new goal became work on swooping even though I had been in bed for 3 months due to a I am stupid and am not listening to anyone breaking my ankle incident... so I worked on slow 90 carving turns... then I downsized again to a 150 did a shitload of altitude clear and pulls with my buddy and wound up on a crossfire2 129 so the rest of the year turned into me working on swooping and freeflying a wee bit less... Ithink next year it will be a combo...of the two again adding do 500 jumps or so and maybe do CPC! Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  4. Zoo!!!!! for my 100th I did a 4 way through icing rain that was supposed to be a 5 way but the guy giving the count slipped on the door and the guy on the step thought that was the start of the count for my 200th it was like a plane load at the ranch and boy was that memorable as it was the biggest clusterfuck I have ever seen 300 I learned my lesson and jumped with 3 other people...thank you punisher sven and redhead cutie whos name I always forget...oh well at least she knows I am not trying to hit on her then... 400 I jumped with 4 other people and had a nice chill time building little bits and I think there was a tube if I recall 500 hop and pop :-P I couldnt resist the $10 hop and pops all day on a low cloud day so I did ten which put me through and over 500 6oo is coming up rapidly and I think I will be in Z hills for it with a bunch of friends... maybe a three way jump with two buds that I can thing of... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

I would say if you are willing to drive lets say 8-10 hours...you could go to Skydive Orange or something in VA or maybe even Carolina SkySports Hows life btw... it was a pleasure to finally meet you in person at Sussex.. Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  9. go to local dept store when they are having a luggage sale buy a suitcase...depending on size of rig...I can fit all my stuff into a smaller suitcase but I jump a MOS Mirage G4 but even my odyssey J3K fit in the smaller size... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  10. my mom stil hates it.... my dad loves it... my honorary jewish grandmother hates it and has a hard time whenever wh knows I am at the DZ... but most importantly I love it and accept the risks myself Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  11. and remember that the corporate world takes some balls to succede so they like wild people to some degree :-P I work for the NBA and I think they were impressed by that myself ;) Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  12. it woudl be an upsize but I think my next canopy is goingt o be a VX 134.5 :-P actually I will be happy with my canopy for at least another 500 or so jumps for sure (really really dont want to be a stat) Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  13. I have told all of my employers taht I am a skydiver while being interviewed....think abotu this skydiving is expensive therefore you need money so logically you will be a good worker when not tryign to play hookey at 3:00 during the summer to go skydiving...which I actually have a job that will allow me every friday off during the summer :-P so cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  14. Read AggieDave's whole post, and check his profile. He jumps a Crossfire2 149 already, and found that the Crossfire2 139 didn't handle the loading well (he's an ape), so he can't really go any smaller in a Crossfire, but doesn't want to make a 30 sq. ft. downsize to a Velo 120. Canuck oops .... I stand corrected... does icarus make larger VX's? or do they stop at 119? Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  15. and hey what about the crossfire2...its a great canopy for the transition...thats why I went to it instead of the stilletto :-P Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  16. I wouldnt say that a Crossfire sacrifices the ability to get back from a long spot, quite the contrary... as far as stability goes, great canopy, it can get a little touchy on openings, but I would say that 99% of mine have been stable and on heading (yes that one was quite a adreno-rush) now the Katana I will agree does come out of the sky very quickly...perhaps the original poster woudl consider demoing a Crossfire2 from icarus...I have had nothign but joy in my life since I got mine by accident... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  17. I did that?? uhm... ok, no problem i guess BTW why are you calling me "Miska"? yeah you did when I first got the Crossfire you pulled me aside and gave me some pointers on clear airspace and pattern awareness with it. Thanks Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  18. btw mike thanks for giving me the heads up on flying my new smaller canopy and dealing with traffic :) Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
