  1. If you learn how to fly your body you don't need to crash onto the net. There's some really good stuff on the IBA youtube channel How to videos Belly to back backflip Barrel rolls Try a layout... which involves you pivoting around your head. They're pretty cool but it is was a backflip type one you'd have to do a back layout (i.e. start back flying). A front layout you'd be starting on your belly. Have fun!!!!

  3. I think they should sew in a few gopro mountings too.
  4. I'm British. My taste buds have died from all the terrible food we have here. I wouldn't notice the difference
  5. I loved Russia but getting a visa was a real chew on . That's one of the things that stopped me going back.
  6. In all seriousness that many brits go to Florida just for a vacation you can pick flights up for US$500 or so. If you did 50-60 jumps then it covers the cost of the flight compared to the UK. You'd only need to do about 40 or so to make it cheaper to jump in Z-hills than Empuria. It's just crazy.
  7. It's such a bummer they increased the jump ticket prices so much. It's $40 now
  8. I have flown at Manchester. It's a 14ft tunnel skyventure tunnel. There are quite a few tunnel rats there. Super-solid regular flyers are Mark (Tron), Simon, Luca and Frazer. They're good for coaching if that's what you want. If you're awesome and want to do some dynamic stuff then they'll be up for that too. It's right next to the Trafford Centre which has a bunch of stuff - it's a shopping centre and there's also an artificial ski/snowboarding slope there. There's a DZ about an hour away (BKPC) too. It's also really close to the airport (15 min drive). If you want any more info just pm me.
  9. Ignore the nonsense above. Cordura adds drag, if you're a big guy it can slow you down. Nylon makes your suit slipperier. Increases your fall rate but harder to control in the tunnel. Polycotton's kind of the middle ground. It's also a bit more comfy than the others. Cordura's definitely a bit on the warm side. You can use a FF suit in the tunnel or a tunnel suit in the sky. Tunnel suits are often a bit more basic to reduce the number of seams that can rip and sometimes made a bit more robust. Sonic also add a windproof zip to their tunnel suit. Baggy, regular and tight fit often only relate to the arms and legs. The body is made to measure. The tighter the fit the more accurate control you're meant to have but harder to fly, supposedly. Most suits get used in the tunnel and most are robust enough to cope so I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. If you were a regular guy with regular build then I'd get a polycotton suit, regular fit. As with all freeflyers though.. the most important thing is to look great and match your suit to your rig. Being seen in an uncool suit... well that's almost worthy of an entry in the 'incidents' thread on dz.com. Hope this helps.
  10. I missed the 4 year ond only got charged the 8 year service.
  11. Get an infinity with black hardware with all the liquid sky pimp extras. It'll cost a billion dollars but you'll get to hang out with all the cool kids. Especially if you get the matching freefly suit
  12. Mmm. I remember them being a bit difficult to rig with an RSL but that was a long time ago. Glad it's sorted.
  13. Empuria or skydive Spain in Seville. They will be better value and a shorter plane ride than Dubai. Bit more relaxed too. Empuria is Europe's largest DZ and the vibe is great but maybe not so great for AFF due to it often being windy and near a built up area. Seville has big outs, very relaxed, great for AFF but a bit further away from civilisation Have fun!
  14. Hahaa. Brilliant. No one does attitude like a pissed off frenchman. Are you getting some tunnel time too?
  15. I like this. A lot. Have a great vacation. Where are you jumping? Edited to add: Ah... Empuria. Got it. From your other post.
  16. You back in the sky Nat? That's awesome ! Could you just have given him the gallic shrug and the disinterested stare??
  17. This is the best thing I've read or heard all day. I'm wiping the tears from my eyes.
  18. I've tried both in my wings. In the container flap it is tough to get in and really hard to deploy, so much so one jump I pulled unstably and ended up in twists. I tuck it in the boc pouch now.
  19. The 'real' news and satirical sites like the onion are becoming nearly indisguishable from each other

    Motivation...

Good luck with that. Anyone who gets round an iron man deserves a medal the size of a frying pan. Got my first tri in 2 weeks and a busted MCL. I am hoping it will heal up in time.
  21. Well I hope you'll be pleased to hear that Oli has used this work to obtain funding for her PhD so give it a few years and we'll have a bigger, more thorough, study.
  22. You're welcome. There's people of all ages here too
