  1. Did Rap get a bad rat? BRBD - Black rat: Black Death. [inline bewareoftherat.JPG]
  2. I think pcchapman has absolutely hit the nail right on the head here. Interesting article.
  3. It's funny, I asked *exactly* the same questions . The articulated freefly wings (model SRI 106) was made for a European dealer who wanted a tighter fitting rig than the articulated wings (SRI 101). You can freefly in both. I ended up getting the articulated wings. Stainless standard is just the 3 rings are stainless (I think...). Stainless deluxe means all metal hardware is stainless (e.g. leg buckles, etc) As for the sizing, if you're ordering new, as sundevil says, let them know what you're putting in it and they'll size to suit. Other things to consider: Wings do a main-activated reserve deployment system (MARD) which is intended to work in a similar fashion to UPT's skyhook. This can be retrofitted and there's a whole section on whether or not you should have one.. I got one. They do a semi-stowless bag. This is okay but not worth the extra $100 having used both IMHO. I also got the spacer foam backpad on my new container. This is much comfier than my old one and worth parting with the extra cash for. They do both swoop risers and normal ones. I think both have dive loops but with the swoop ones the brakes are stowed differently. Enjoy!
  4. I had a W14 and a pilot 188 in there. I enquired about putting a pulse 170 in it but was told it was too small and may give unpredictable openings. Hth Adam
  5. Dunno. It was an extraordinarily busy week being half term. A couple of instructors have left and some new ones getting trained up (which occurs after hours). I'll ask some of the lads. See what they say. Aaron did 260 hours last month. Edited to add: which tunnel do you fly at mostly?
  6. It might be different from tunnel to tunnel but some of the lads where I fly worked from opening at 8 am to just after midnight last Sunday.
  7. Just to add.. if you get a job at a skyventure tunnel the training is the same and allows you to work at other skyventure tunnels. I know two guys who started out in the UK and now work in Sydney, Australia. If you get a job at a non-skyventure tunnel that might restrict where you can subsequently work as a skyventure tunnel might not recognise your skills. Either way the hours are long and it's not all flying as ianyapxw stated.
  8. Sorry.. I meant to say $12-$14.. i.e. dollars not pounds. Ugh.
  9. The UK is about £12-14/hr but you get training. You can also pay for the training yourself but this is about $12,000.
  10. Genting's not a very powerful tunnel. I'd doubt if you could do freeflying in in
  11. You have a greater range of speeds freeflying than you do on your belly.
  12. It works the same way at Airkix in the UK in that the spotters are quite often great flyers and do coaching on their days off but are more than happy to go through a few things whilst they're there. The downside of this is that they're always busy either instructing, driving the tunnel, on reception or briefing the next class so the chance for a proper brief/debrief is low. I started paying for coaching for head down and now do a mix of coached sessions, just having fun or practicing what my coach and I went through the last session. Needless to say a steady stream of donuts and other goodies finds its way to the staff room. When I got onto head down I bought the staff 2 cases of beer.
  13. My wife and I got married on the Snaefellsnes peninsula and we loved the place. Looks like I need to bring my rig for our anniversary
  14. I've got a sonic tunnel suit and have flown 25 hours on it. It's getting a bit rough at the elastic on the wrists but otherwise no problems with it at all. I think they're well made. The other thing is that they are based at Empuriabrava so get yourself a long weekend out there, get measured up then get some jumps/tunnel in
  15. 4 way vfs topped out at Manchester can be feel quite slow on a hot day. I guess I should stop my pie-eating and get some talent
  16. Same as the uk Super user account for 10 hours and that includes 20% VAT (out equivalent to GST) ). What are the regular rates?
  17. It might not necessarily be a strength/fitness thing, both Liz and Martin are very fit people. It might be a case of overstretching. Are you particularly flexible or hypermobile? Heal fast
  18. G3 all the way - it's so much less noisy using it than a pro tec. If you're new to tunnel progression then have a look at these handy playlist from IBA. Each video is one step on the tunnel progression. Welcome to the crackhouse!!!
  19. Two friends of mine have suffered minor nerve damage which has limited their mobility for perhaps 4 weeks or so due to overarching during tunnel flight. It might be that too. Particularly if you're feeling numbness. It heals up in time though. Ad.
  20. I was always tempted by the RVF400. A bit rare these days but I remember trying to follow one and the cornering was superb. I didn't keep up. Very small and light and the single-sided swinging arm.. Yum.
  21. Dann. It wasn't like that yesterday. I shoukd have downloaded it.

  23. I thought you'd posted it. I've yet to see it but the 2012 and 2011 versions are great.
  24. I've got a L Rawa vision and an XL G3. I couldn't even get the size L G3 on in the shop. I think the sizes are a little on the small size for the G3. I'd go the bigger size.
